Abner was 100% reliable..excellent communication with him throughout our entire trip to Costa Rica March 2020. We visited quite a few places and he was there to pick us up everytime. I searched around for drivers and Abner had the fairest price. His van is clean, comfortable and Abner is a safe driver that does not take unnecessary risks ! His English is very good and he is a great conversationalist. We will not hesitate to have Abner as our driver the next time we visit beautiful Costa Rica. Thank you Abner !

I just came back from Costa Rica, where I was visiting for 5 days with my son. Abner was our driver. He was supposed to stay with us every day from early morning until about 5:00 pm, after which I treated him for 5 days to nice dinners, which were not in my agreement with the tour company who booked him. During that time, he was supposed to drive us everywhere we wanted to go, which were birding places. Since my son and I were on different flights, I asked Abner to take me to the airport first (less then an hour drive), so my son could enjoy a few more hours birding. At first, Abner agreed. Then, at the last moment, when it was too late to get a taxi (the hotel tried, but none was available), Abner demanded a lot of money to take me to the airport. I tried to explain to him that we were still within our agreed upon time, and that if we were going to an hour away birding place, he would have had to take us, which he concedes. However, he knew that I was in a bind, having to choose between cutting my son’s trip short or being late to my flight (I can’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew the taxi situation). The money he demanded was way above a taxi ride, as the hotel informed me. I had no choice, but to pay him the money. I see that most of Abner’s reviews are from past years. Perhaps he used to be different. In the end, he even hinted about a tip....imagine that! This is how he treated me after all the nice dinners were over. With many drivers available, there is really no reason to hire him. If you do, get all the details, even the small ones in writing, as I seriously doubt his integrity.

My husband and I just returned from 8 weeks in Costa Rica, during which we had 4 sets of visitors, all of whom were anxious to see the sites. We had the great good fortune to find Abner during our first week, and we hired him to drive us to attractions all over the country. He was friendly, knowledgable, had a comfortable well-stocked van, and was on time or early every time we traveled with him. His efficient door-to-door service allowed us to spend significantly more time on the sites we were seeing, without ever needing to worry about the logistics of getting there. His English was excellent and his insights on Costa Rica and the attractions were highly appreciated. If I could rate him higher than 5 stars I surely would! Abner, you are the best!!

We booked Abner through Two Weeks in Costa Rica and he gave us great service in his comfortable, well appointed van. He picked us up at the San Jose airport and, at the end of our week in Manuel Antonio, he transported us back. In both cases he was exactly on time. We stopped in Atenas after we arrived to have lunch at a soda and then for a great tour of the El Toledo Coffee Farm. On the rest of the drive he was full of knowledge about Costa Rica and eager to show us interesting sights. (That bridge with the crocodiles!) On the way back, he surprised us with a sloth that he had spotted the day before sleeping low in a tree . This is a great service. I unconditionally recommend Abner as a driver and a guide!

Abner helped us tremendously during our week long honeymoon in Costa Rica. He picked us up timely in San Jose with a stocked cooler and very clean van. He drove us to Arenal pointing out wildlife, stopping when we needed, connecting our music and sharing the culture and history of CR. After a few days, he picked us up again and took us to the playa conchal area. He is competitively priced, dependable and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He also has a very cute dog you should request to come on short rides. We absolutely can't wait to return to some of the other spots Abner recommended to us. Abner is your guy for everything!

Abner & his staff are truly exceptional. Adolfo was primarily our driver during most of the trip, and he definitely made our experience that much more memorable! Many of the locations we visited were further out, and he made it a point to stop by a few sight-seeing destinations that we had no idea about! He was very timely, friendly and accommodating. We had a great experience with Abner and his brother. We traveled to San Jose to La Fortuna, then to Jaco and finally back to San Jose. We enjoyed their company and we felt safe. He took no money until the end of his services. Hope Abner keeps his 5 stars raiting for many years.

Abner’s service was amazing! Everyone in our group loves him and our other driver, Aldolfo (Lulu). Abner was always on time to pick us up and transported our group quickly and safely. Most importantly, both drivers were always friendly and personable with us, making us feel at home in Costa Rica. This was especially important since we had a group of young teens. On one of our days, my dance students and I spent 12 hours teaching at a local dance studio. Abner and Lulu took all of my dancers’ moms around town to tour the city, to a local artisan market, and other fun places. They stayed with the ladies to ensure their safety & they had a wonderful time. On the group’s “fun day”, the last day of our trip, they made several fun stops on our way to a catamaran tour (which they were instrumental in helping us find and make reservations), making the trip even more special. These two guys became “family” to our group & we will never forget their kindness and helpfulness. We will definitely use Abner’s Custom Costa Rica Tours on our next trip!!

Abner communicated with us prior to the trip and the day of the trip to keep us informed. He took no money upfront. His vehicle was clean and comfortable. When he arrived he met us at the airport with a big smile. On the hour and a half trip to Los Suenos he filled us in on Costa Rican culture, industry, tourism and ecology. Prior to our 4 days in Costa Rica we had contacted Abner to consult his services. He provided us with a prompt response as well as suggestions and recommendations for sightseeing on our trip -- all of turned which out to be amazing. We had a couple different drivers for the four days we were there, all of which spoke decent English and were able to functionally communicate (or better) with us, given our limited ability to speak Spanish. The drivers were all promptly on time to meet us as requested, and made an extra effort to ensure comfort in the van. They also showed us and talked about interesting things along the drive. I was very pleased with their services and definitely recommend them to anyone else needing a driver on their Costa Rica trip!

I have visited Costa Rica Three times in the last year and a half. Abner was referred by a friend with high regards. Now I truly know know. This guy is amazing! Pick up at the airport with a custom sign to we could easily recognize him, cold beer in the cooler, cost effective and early. Abner was booked for pickup, 4 excursions ( La Fortuna waterfall, Baldi hot springs, ATV Tour in Jaco and White water rafting) and drop off at the airport.
