We will meet in the center of downtown Montezuma where the bohemian vibe, surfers and artistic community come together. After introducing you to the town, we will head to the beach for a scenic hike along the trail leading us to Playa Grande, part of the Romelia Biological Reserve. Along the way we will see many plants, birds and animals native to the Costa Rican jungle. We will stop in a small waterfall and see the neatly piled rock sculptures at Piedra Colorada. We will enter Romelia Reserve and I will explain how it was founded alongside my grandparents to be protected land. The surf lesson will begin on the sand from our special chill spot on the beach. We will practice positioning on the board, safety tips and how to handle ourselves in the water. We will move to the ocean to practice the initial stages of surfing with your coach helping every step of the way. After the first hour, we will take a short break to enjoy fresh fruit and a coconut picked just for you from the surrounding palm trees. We will go back to the ocean for the second hour, practicing standing up on the board and riding the waves at your personal level of surfing. We return to Montezuma together.
