- Odyssey6186940 contributionsLa Paz Waterfall Gardens and Wildlife Refuge is a Top Notch Trip! Worth Every Penny!Arturo was an amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Costa Rica’s history and regaled us with interesting stories as we traveled to La Paz waterfalls. We loved the whole trip! Thank you so much!Written September 27, 2024
- Departure379428662310 contributionsGreat experience. Seen everything you see on the web site. All the pictures you see on the site you will see. The buffet lunch was very good. Plus side after lunch you get to see the waterfalls. Warning though lunch is great don't over do it going to the waterfalls involves many steps. Wear tennis shoes for better traction on the steps.Written September 5, 2024

- amandapL1867BJ0 contributionsGreat dayWe had a bit of a soggy day, but it was fabulous. The boat ride was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and excited to do whatever we wanted to do during the day. Well worth the time and money.Written August 31, 2024
- JenniferS1300 contributionsWaterfalls and animalsThe waterfalls were beautiful. The lunch was a buffet with lots of options, even my picky children were happy. The animals are in more of a zoo like atmosphere which was disappointing. The frog exhibit was the best with frogs out on the vegetation. Plan on the tour running over. We were originally to be back at the hotel at 4:00 and did not return until after 5:00.Written August 22, 2024
- MayaritoDc0 contributionsAbsolutely Worth Every penny! What a great way to spend a day watching nature in action! Got picked up from my hotel and headed out to a restaurant about a hour outside of the city to grab breakfast, after that we headed straight to the national park and got to witness several species of animals in their natural habitat! Also got to see the Caribbean Sea which was breathtaking! Many special thanks to my tour guide Ricardo and boat operator Ronnie!Written August 19, 2024
- robgimza0 contributionsManuel Antonio - fantastic day tripOur guide, Jary, and driver picked us up early at our hotel for the 3 hour drive. We passed many small towns and finally stopped at a roadside soda for a breakfast buffet. After breakfast, Jary had us walk across a bridge. Below was a river containing many crocs, who were basking in the river shallows. Then we drove thru Jaco, an up and coming surfing town with luxury condos planned. We stopped at an ocean lookout and observed several wild red macaws hanging out in a tree. The park is located in Quepos, a small but bustling town with many restaurants, bars and hotels. Our bags were searched at the park entrance (no plastic water bottles or food). Jary led us thru the park looking for wildlife. We saw a snake, lizards, monkeys, ants iguana and a sloth. It was very humid day and Jary led a climb up a steep staircase to a lookout point. It took alot of energy and we were all sweating heavily. After the stairs, we stopped at beach for about an hour. Be careful...the monkeys will steal your belongings if you leave them unattended. So the company Jary works for owns a wonderful hotel / restaurant at the park entrance, This is where we have a filling lunch, where I consumed a HUGE burger (about the size of my hand). A very long day, but fulfilling in so many ways.Written August 18, 2024
- chigham0 contributionsGreat DayThanks to our tour guide, Jerry from Destiny Travel, our trip to Tortuguero National Park was amazing. Jerry was very engaging with our group; very knowledgeable about the park, animals and foliage. We hiked through the park to the top of a volcano.....it didn't rain in the rain forest, IT POURED! Jerry was very positive and encouraging the entire day. Definitely worth the full day we spent on this trip.Written August 18, 2024

- Rob F0 contributionsCruise the canals of Tortuguero National Park. What an awesome tour!! Our tour guide Ricardo was awesome, knowledgeable and interesting. As we took a boat down the canals, we saw all kinds of wildlife. Howler monkeys, spider monkeys, lizards, iguanas, crocodiles, black vultures, kingfishers and herons to name a few. The tour also included a walk through the forest along a very nice trail. Breakfast and lunch included and was delicious!!Written August 14, 2024
- RobynWisler0 contributionsTortuguero day tourWe saw many animals on this day trip to Tortuguero. Arturo did a great job finding animals and explaining species. We would definitely recommend it. We will probably come back for a night tour of the turtles nesting on the beach.Written August 12, 2024
- 942jimmyg0 contributionsThe best way to experience Tortuguero from San José without an overnight stay!Great one-day tour of Tortuguero from anywhere in San José. I had visited Tortuguero over 25 years ago, and it was not an enjoyable experience to say the least. When my son wanted to go, I decided to book with Trip Advisor this time! Everything met or exceeded expectations. Our guide, Arturo, was kind, patient, and funny. Our boat guide, Ronny, knew the canals like the back or his hand and spoke English, Spanish, and Spider Monkey! We saw Spider monkeys, green macaws, a Kingfisfer bird, around 10 toucans of two different species, a huge crocodile basking on a log, as well as iguanas, other lizards, and birds. And, we saw a coati/pizote on the way back to San José, passing through Braulio Carrillo National Park. My only complaint is this- the breakfast could have been better and bigger for the price, but the lunch was quite good.Written July 28, 2024

- alexwQ6744TS0 contributionsGreat experience that is overpriced if you have your own transportation. The La paz Waterfall Gardens is a must-visit. You will see plenty of animals (Getting up-close with toucans, other birds, butterflys, and frogs). The waterfalls themselves are very scenic. This experience can be done on its own for ~$55. The Doka Coffee Plantation tour was also nice, informative, and interactive. This on its own is $42 with lunch (Through their website). If you have your own transportation I'd recommend booking these two activities separately. If you don't then it is a fair deal (+$70 for transportation for the day compared to just booking each activity separately).Written June 30, 2024
