What to expect
Situated along the Costa Rican Bird Route, Cinco Ceibas Rainforest Reserve and Adventure Park is a private eco-tourism park that aims to protect native wildlife habitats and support sustainable farming in Costa Rica. Your full-day adventure begins with early morning pickup at your San Jose hotel and a roughly 2.5-hour drive north in a minivan. When you arrive at the reserve, follow a naturalist guide along a nearly 1-mile (1.2-km) elevated boardwalk made of reforested Honduran pine and carefully constructed so as not to disturb the pristine habitat. Gain a unique perspective on the magnificent ecosystem and admire giant ceiba trees, many of which are hundreds of years old. Keep an eye out for red-eyed tree frogs, bats, toucans, green macaws and parades of leaf-cutter ants. Howler monkeys may provide a wild soundtrack for your stroll! Rejuvenate with a lunch of typical Costa Rican cuisine at the Cinco Ceibas open-air café, where all meals are prepared on site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy views of the lush jungle greenery and the Rio Cuarto while you dine. After lunch, choose from three different on-site adventures: kayaking on the Rio Cuarto, horseback riding or touring the reserve in an oxen-pulled wagon. (See Itinerary below for detailed activity descriptions.) Make use of lockers and changing rooms to stay comfortable throughout the day, and enjoy an energizing snack of a sandwich and beverage later on. At the end of your day at Cinco Ceibas, relax on the return drive to San Jose, where your tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

Wasted our last day in Costa Rica
May 2018 • Friends
We were very excited to visit this property. However, they were not ready for us. When the van came to pick us up and the driver informed us it was only us taking the tour we were actually excited, but as the day progressed we realized how bad it was. They were not organized or ready for us. The most exciting part about this day was the drive there (3 hrs from our location) and their amazing driver Wilson who pointed out amazing locations and even stopped for us to buy Strawberries. Everything else was just a disappointment. We got to the location and don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful property, but we literally paid $125.00/each for a 10 mins horse ride, booze, and food. It took them over 2 hours to "fetch" the horses and get them ready. The man who rode along with us wouldn't talk and couldn't even give us directions or explain how to get the horses moving and I speak Spanish so there was no excuse. The worse part was that The horses looked like they were suffering the entire ride and they couldn't move very fast. When the 10 min horse ride was over we were shocked to find out that the oxen wagon tour (our 2nd activity) was also NOT READY. This is when we had enough and just wanted to go home. It was our last day in Costa Rica and it was completely wasted because they were disorganized. Whatever problems they are having with miscommunication is really affecting their ability to satisfy the guest. This place has great potential if they organize and communicate better. Also, not sure how Kayak will be possible on the river if the water doesn't even go knees high... will not recommend. at least not for the price.

with a choice of 2 activites out of 4 , we did the boardwalk and the horse riding.the boardwalk is over a mile long but a great way to see a host of wildlife in its natural state ranging from poison dart frogs to a host of beetles and ants, vast amount of birds and the chance to see tapirs and monkeys . our guide was a font of information and what he did not know about trees ect was not worth knowing.after this we chose the horses and it was so good to ride through the rainforest and see things from a different view.after 1 and a half hours riding we had a great meal. fantastic day out

Beautiful!!!
Travelled here with G Adventures. We had the whole lodge to ourselves. Yoga studio space, boardwalks & beautiful float/kayak down Rio Cuanto. Lodging is for many people but lots of smaller rooms that give privacy. Meals were delicious, staff were lovely. Highly recommended
