Edgar was an amazing guide, he was very accommodating and made us feel like we were a part of the family. He pointed out animals to us along the river and educated us on the wildlife. Juan Carlos was our boat driver and they were an amazing duo, they worked to find birds, lizards, and monkeys that we wouldn’t have seen on our own. Highly recommend with these two amazing people!

This was one of the best tours we had and what a beautiful weather that day. It was a very relaxing ride. We did see lot of wild-life and our tour guide and kids had fun with clapping orchestra we invented with the Dancing insects . Overall Jade tours is very run by Mario and his team. They are very pro wild-life and do not do things like what other tours do such as feeding animals etc. Binoculars are helpful.

We were a group of around 10 people and since the very beginning of the tour Edgar was very nice and making jokes whilst explaining in details EVERYTHING about what we were seeing. Also, he made the tour entertaining and dynamic, asking questions about our knowledge over some topics related to the tour.
He is very professional and I highly recommend him for your tours!

We had a wonderful time on this tour. The 3 of us were the only ones on the tour, we had the boat to ourselves. They picked us up at our hotel in a comfortable van and took us to the boat. Guide and boat driver were both very good at spotting birds. We saw a large variety, including a spoonbill. After the tour they took us to a restaurant for a 'typical' lunch, included in the price of the tour.

We spent two hours touring through the mangrove with Royvin Arce who was our guide, and Jan, who was our boat driver. Roy was very Knowledgeable about many of the spices and vegetation in the mangrove and we spotted several iguanas lizards monkeys reptiles and cool birds. The boat tour itself was relaxing and felt safe and Jan navigated our 3 hour tour through the swamp high tide like a captain at sea. My wife and 2 children (22 and 15) had a great time because it’s not something we get to do or we get to see every day, My son even got to play with a snake courtesy of Roy! The complementary lunch afterwards was actually tasty and filling.

Our guide Jose Vallejos was fantastic at spotting the wide variety of wildlife along the river. It was extra special that Jose would take photos so we could experience the wildlife encounter directly, rather than be stuck behnd the lens ourselves. This way we have the memories of the encouter and the photos. Jose was very kind to one of our group who enjoyed the realtime closeups on his camera.

We will definetely seek out Jose again when we return.

Took this tour today with Edgar. Very nice guy and a good spotter. Saw lots of wildlife, including lots of species of birds, Jesus Christ Lizards and even got to see a Boa curled up in a tree. Spent well over 2 hours on the water at a relaxed pace and the captain ensured all 6 of us aboard were given the opportunity to take photos before moving on. Start times depends on high tide and even at 6am the water was shallow. Drinking water was provided and we were given a simple meal at a local restaurant following the tour.

So we were lucky enough to have Francisco as our boat guide which has some major pluses over the kayaks. 1) it's covered 2) it goes farther and 3) you can spend your time looking for creatures. The only downside is the motor makes a noise. On the other hand the boat driver is a native who knows where everything is and will back up so you don't miss anything. Francisco was excellent at spotting and pointing out all sorts of cool varieties of herons and sandpipers and monkeys and lizards etc. Dinner is included and very good. Francisco knew the history of the mangroves and ecology which is so interesting and how the forest's spread and regenerate and their importance. Already looking for organic pineapple after the trip. Minor point: odd to see someone wearing black in the heat of the day since nothing could be hotter and bugs are attracted to it and the color recedes so it is easy to overlook the guides if they are in a group.

My wife, 3 kids (8, 4 and 4 year olds) and I thoroughly enjoyed the Mangrove Boat tour. Edgar was our guide and he was absolutely terrific! We initially met him on the Manuel Antonio park tour - he was our guide - and we loved him so much that we explicitly requested him for the Mangrove tour.

The Mangrove tour really added to the wildlife experience as we were able to see some animals that aren’t found in the national park (eg boa constrictors and crocodiles/caimans). The boat was very comfortable with a canopy top that kept us cool and away from extensive sun exposure.

Edgar is extremely knowledgeable - our kids tend to ask the most inquisitive questions and there wasn’t one that stumped him. Highly recommend the tour itself as well as Edgar being your guide!

Excellent and informative tour with our guide Royvin Arce. We traveled quietly through the extensive network of mangroves during the transition from low to high tide. Saw numerous shorebirds, kingfishers, herons, ibis, as well as capuchin monkeys, lizards, iguanas, sloths. Royvin provided interesting facts about the local history and its biodiversity. After the tour, we were taken to a very pleasant restaurant in Quepos where a hot traditional meal awaited us. Two thumbs up! Muchas gracias amigos!
