Fun way to end our Costa Rica trip
We were hesitant about the tour because of some of the negative reviews, but we ended up having a fantastic time! It was a highlight of our trip and a perfect end to six days of vacation. The crew were friendly, we got to meet lots of other people on the boat, we went snorkeling, jumped off the boat, saw dolphins, and enjoyed the sunset. Drinks and food weren’t amazing but they were pretty good, which is what I’d expect from a boat tour like this. The snorkeling wasn’t all that far away like we expected from some of the reviews—maybe a five minute swim from the boat. It’s not for everyone, so don’t go in expecting a peaceful, quiet sunset cruise where you’re guaranteed to see whales and dolphins and have the best snorkeling of your life. If you want more of a party atmosphere where snorkeling, swimming, and possibly seeing dolphins are a bonus, then this is a great way to spend the afternoon.

        So much fun!
We had a great time snorkeling, cruising, watching dolphins, eating and drinking with great hosts. Highly recommend!

        Never more
Very disappointing experience. Not even a slightest intention to show us dolphins or anything from the wildlife. Extremely loud music, rude staff, cheap drinks and some poor crackers, dirty whirlpool, not enough seats for everybody. The water slide is dangerous (there was an accident). No snorkeling. All children on board very disappointed and bored. We waisted not even a lot of money, but the precious time we had for the beaufitul beach of Manuel Antonio. If you want to enjoy the day with your family, don't go there.

        Terrible experience!
We did this tour in early April 2023. Very disappointing experience. Not at all what is described on the tour details. The staff are rude. The drinks are all bland and watered-down. The snacks consisted of watermelon and pineapple that was enough for about half the people on board, and cheap prepackaged cookies and club crackers. Lunch was equally bland and unimpressive. Almost the entire time was spent driving around in a circle next to the coast with no "whale or dolphin-watching" and no "touring of the coastline" as stated in the company's tour description. They stop the boat for 1 hour to allow snorkeling but you have to swim 10-15 minutes each way to even get to the snorkeling spot. And once you get there, you see a handful of fish. But when you're done snorkeling and you get back to the boat, that's when the real rip-off happens. They allow you some time to use the water slides at the back and jump off the side of the boat (about 15-20 feet). But they never tell you to remove your watches or any jewelry. Instead, some of the staff are scuba diving directly under the boat (we saw them), and I assume they are collecting up any valuables that have fallen to the bottom. And then they try to sell your valuables back to you. They wait till you realize you lost something, then they offer to "try to find them", but they charge $50-100 for the service. When I told them I knew what they were doing, they told me sorry they did not find my watch and just ran away. We did some other waterfall and cliff jumping tours after this one, and every single one of those companies warned us ahead of time to remove our watches and jewelry because they always come off at impact. So be careful if you book with this company. They are dishonest and our experience was very disappointing.

Enjoyable catamaran trip off Manuel Antonio
Excellent three hour trip. Crew were awesome and super relaxed and friendly. Boat was very clean and a good size to spread out on. Lunch was great. One of the things I really liked was the honesty about the snorkeling. We’ve had a lot of regular rain and the water is not super clear so he said that up front so you knew what to expect. Our kids are 12 and 9 and they had a blast jumping off the top deck and using the water slide. We saw some whales also and overall just a great trip. The crew made the difference for me.

        FUN TIME!
It was great to get out on the ocean. The staff is extremely professional and very safety conscious. Also, you get four cocktails and lunch with your trip. It is a four hour excursion and very well done with plently of time to play in the water, snorkel and come down the on board water slide. A great advernture for ALL ages.

        A nice day sailing.
The catamaran was very nice. We received free drinks, and a nice lunch. We stopped for swimming and snorkeling. My only problem was that the music was so loud, my ears were ringing. Despite several requests to turn the music down just a little, they would always crank it back up, two songs later. For me, it spoiled the outing. My recommendation is to avoid this cruise if you have sensitive hearing.

        The party of your life!
We had an amazing time on the Ocean King! The staff was friendly and attentive, the drinks were great, and the music was fun! Emma the photographer got amazing photos (well worth the purchase). Jumping from the boat and the slides were a highlight! The food was basic but not bad. Overall a great experience for all ages and I highly recommend!

        FUN FUN FUN!
This tour was a blast from start to finish! Everyone was very Covid aware, and they took our temps and sanitized us several times before we boarded the catamaran. Once aboard you set sail into the gorgeous waters of Manuel Antonio. A welcome snack and delicious cocktails are included, as well as a full dinner after the stop for swimming and snorkeling. The crew is charming and the music is so fun we all were dancing! Take the sunset cruise for a spectacular ending to a delightful day

        So much fun!
This was such a great way to spend the afternoon, on a boat, cruising the gorgeous coastline of Manuel Antonio. The guides were great, very attentive and funny. Jumping off the boat and dancing all afternoon were the highlights of the trip. I would definitely go again!

        Super Fun Experience!
Super fun experience in the Manuel Antonio area! We saw a couple of whales at the beginning of our tour and it kept getting better from there. The crew was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. After cruising for a while, we stopped to snorkel and were provided with adequate gear. We didn't have great weather, but the snorkeling was still fun and we saw a couple of fish! The slides at the back of the catamaran are also super fun and you can even jump into the ocean from the top deck! The meal served is delicious and plenty of food! I highly recommend booking this if you're in the area! *the drinks are not spectacular

        Best tour around
If you are looking for a great experience with true locals of the area and want to have a good time doing it.. you have to take the ocean king, no doubt one of my favorite experiences on my trip. Alan and emilio were the most accommodating hosts on the tour. Laughing and having a great time with them made the experience so much better for me and the group. Thank you for the memories and we hope to see you soon!

        Wonderful experience
My mother and I attended the morning cruise and it was a wonderful warm, breezy day! Great music on board with Alan being incredibly attentive, bringing us drinks and snacks. Lunch was delicious and we had a great time snorkelling around while the boat was stopped in a gorgeous cove and also sunning ourselves before and after on the various decks of the boat. Roberto, back in the office, was very kind and helpful when our transport was late picking us up. All in all, wonderful service and we'd really recommend them to anyone considering a boat trip in beautiful Manuel Antonio!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience on our last day in Costa Rica. From taking our temps at the beginning before entering the boat, keeping the capacity way down from what the boat can normally hold, providing hand sanitizer, and enforcing masks to be worn at the beginning and while in line for lunch, we were so impressed by these measures and felt very safe. On top of that, the music was so fun you couldn't help but dance, a drink or two was always in hand, the people on the boat were so nice and friendly, and the staff was even more so, the food for lunch was delicious, and we had the perfect amount of time to stop and swim in the ocean! We could slide down the slides, jump off the top of the boat, and float in the most beautiful part of the Pacific. Even as people who might normally get sea sick, the boat ride was so smooth we didn't feel a thing the entire time! Nothing but pure bliss and relaxation. The best part of all? We saw dolphins! A special thanks to Emilio who took the time to get to know us, come grab us when the dolphins came around, and teach us how to salsa dance! He was the best! And plenty handsome. :)

What a GREAT experience!! 4 of us took this cruise on Tuesday Jan 25, 2022. Very well organized, picked up people from Manuel Antonio Beach area and all along the way to Quepos. The driver even backed the bus down a very steep road to pick up a large group. Once at the Marina it was organized and quick signing in and getting wristbands, which for boarding and 4 drinks on board🙂 The vessel itself was clean and we were required to remove our shoes upon boarding. Every one of the staff were super friendly, helpful, and fun! They make a point of not guaranteeing dolphin or whale sightings because that's nature🤷🏼‍♀️We did have luck with spotting a pod of dolphins playing out in the ocean😍🤗The drinks were yummy and the food, our group agreed, was delish.
Thank you crew, we ALL agreed, you are the best!! And friendliest! If anyone is looking, you need not look any further, this group is the whole package!

I give this a 4 instead of a 5 because the tone was a little more party-boat than I expected. The crew was great and encouraged a party vibe. The scenes of Manuel Antonio and the sunset were spectacular. The food and drinks were mediocre. Overall, I'd say you get your money's worth on this cruise, just don't expect fine cuisine or a peaceful sunset.

I generally don't like to post reviews that are super critical but for $80 a person I wanted to give other's a head's up. Someone recently posted a similar review but since it was just one I thought she had to be kidding ~ she wasn't. This was the most we paid for any tour on our trip and it wasn't worth it. The shuttle from our hotel was fine ~ loaded to the max but that was expected. Once we were dropped off at the marina we had to wait for over 40 minutes while other shuttles arrived, brining our total number of passengers to 107.

Here's my best description ~ think of going to a relative's wedding where you know not a soul and the music is painfully loud. Oh yeah, and nearly everyone is pretty tipsy.

Yes, my mother and I were those 2 "old ladies" who sat there, trying to will the time to pass. The music blared. The other passengers got pretty toasty. There was a sense that it was all about parading around in one's bathing suit and being slightly intoxicated.

But the final straw came when dinner was served and we were told that since we didn't have a special marking on our wrist band we couldn't have chicken with our dinner, it had to be fish. This wasn't OK with us and made that pretty clear. Mind you, we were never told there was an option. To add insult to the situation we had to really push the point and were finally told to, "just sit down and we'll see if we can't work something out..." by a very condescending crew member who was the only one dishing out dinner. When we pointed out that we had literally hadn't had a drink, alcoholic or not, he only said, "that's not my problem. I don't have you down for chicken so you can't have it." After making us sit in what felt like a 'time out', he finally decided to serve us dinner with chicken. "You see, there's always a solution...you just had to give it time for a solution to appear..." was what were told when we were finally served.

The scenery was lovely, the breeze delightful.

If you're looking for a booze cruise this is it. If you're looking for something more nature and grown up don't do this one.

We paid 75 USD per person for a very lame experience.

We saw whales they will say (well the tail, 100 meters away, nothing exciting)
The rest, just very loud music, with absolutely no respect of mask wearing by anyone (including staff) or social distancing. See the pictures for yourselves.

You can snorkel, but we will tell you the area is not really great for it and you won't see much.

      So for whale watching? No
      For nature watching? No
      For snorkeling? No
      For relaxing? No

      For party? Yes
      For Covid? Yes

I would have enjoyed this but for the fact that they blare unmercifully loud pop music the whole time. If I had been hit in the stomach with a baseball bat it could hardly have been worse. When I asked them to turn it off or at least down, they replied "You are only one person; we have 75 aboard." The constant noise made the trip an ordeal rather than a pleasure.

That issue aside, the sights on the trip were somewhat interesting but not very remarkable: volcanic bluffs rising from the sea, views of the Manuel Antonio National Park from about a half-mile offshore, a few dolphins, shore birds swooping around, etc. Supposedly a humpback whale was in the vicinity, but it did not surface where we could see it.

The snorkeling portion was disappointing: we had about 15 minutes to swim around an inlet with rather drab underwater scenery and maybe ten-foot visibility. Saw some pretty fish but little else of interest. Many people did enjoy going down the slides into the water at the stern of the boat.

A nice dinner was provided: mahi-mahi kebabs with pesto pasta salad and a few other sides. Ample free water and tropical juices were provided at all times, and beer at a very reasonable price.

So, I might have enjoyed this were I deaf, or had I brought ear plugs, but there was no advance warning of the brutal aural beating we had to take. Keep this in mind before you book.

This was sold to us as a “whale watching” trip but is basically a party boat that hugs the coastline. We saw nothing except nice scenery. There’s a lot of booze (4 drinks included) and some passable food, you can snorkel if you wish (kiddie level) but won’t see much, and can jump off the boat to swim or go down a slide. The kids and teenagers on board loved it but the adults looked less impressed probably because they were paying the $86 a head bill and we’re expecting to actually go out to sea to find something interesting to look at. The staff were very nice and it runs like a well oiled machine in getting you on and off and well oiled with various rum punches. But there are far cheaper party boats around.

The boat was new, well equipped & extremely spacious. We spent time in the jacuzzi, on the net & generally chilling out. Drinks were tasty & included in the price.

The best part of the whole experience, though, was the staff. Flawless service, enthusiastic & friendly, the entire crew provided a great experience to all of the guests.

The snorkeling gear was top notch & the water slides were great fun.

The food was delicious & plentiful & the sunset was absolutely gorgeous.

Absolutely great value for money! We had a great time & truly enjoyed the entire experience. And to repeat...fantastic service & staff!!!

I was hoping for a bit more of a "party cruise" as so many reviews mentioned the party atmosphere. However, there were less than 20 people on board, about 5 kids, and some elderly people. Very far from the party environment I was hoping for. However, the boat was still really nice! We snorkeled. We fished (my boyfriend and I each caught our first fish!) and we had a delicious meal. The crew was great. Special shout outs to Dilan who was our photographer!

I would recommend the sunset cruise if you're looking for more of a party atmosphere as there were way more people when we did it the second time around.

We originally booked with Planet Dolphin Catamaran because we thought their boat would have a few less people. However, they cancelled on us last-minute. So I reached out to Ocean King via WhatsApp, and they responded immediately confirming our spot for the very next day. Price was great, and they picked us up from our hotel. We got on the boat, which probably holds around 175+, but it wasn't crowded at all. Possibly due to this being the lower season, but there were probably 75-100 people on board. This was perfect. There were plenty of people to mix with and make friends, but never some many that it felt crowded at all. Plenty of seating in the shade or the sun. They played music, but not so loud that it felt like a party boat. All the staff were very friendly, and they kept out drinks filled all day. Good chicken and fish for lunch. We saw several humpback whales and dolphins. My only wish was that we stayed at the swimming/sliding/jumping/snorkeling/lunch spot a little longer. 1 hour was not quite long enough. Overall, a great day on the water with the family, and we will book it first if we're every in Costa Rica again.
