Such a nice experience while visiting Montezuma. Nidia showed us how to make vegetarian cheviche with plátano and it was interesting to hear her story about the house and how Montezuma has developed the last 30 years. Andy is a super guide, always positive and wants everyone to have a good time. I did the local cuisine combined with Spanish classes with him for a week, which was really good. His English is fluent and he is a good teacher!😊

Great idea, well implemented. Its a perfect way of practicing spanish and get to know the local culture. The combination of theory and themed activities (feria = local market, how to make Ceviche with Nidia,...) are an unique experience. It is an great alternative to the touristy activities and gives an impression of life in Costa Rica. Andy is an uncomplicated and helpful guy with good english skills. We recommend!

This was a Great experience! Nidia is a great cook and made a delicious vegan ceviche. And it was very nice talking to her. Andy is a great teacher and we really like his concept!

Where to begin?! For starters, Andy was fantastic in every way - he was responsive in helping set this up and get us there from Santa Teresa. He also provided great suggestions for future travels in the region and even helped coordinate another excursion. We’re grateful for his excellent English to coordinate as well as translate throughout the experience. He met us while we had a drink in Montezuma and then walked us to the local beach home of Nidia, our culinary host. The setting for her home was fantastic and it felt like a privilege to join her in it. With Nidia’s guidance we made a vegetarian cerviche and mashed plantains (which we’ve now made on our own). My partner was served a beer and I had a homemade tamarind juice. Then we enjoyed the delicious fruits of our labour! If you’re looking for an authentic Costa Rican cultural experience then this is the tour for you - let Andy be your guide and Nidia be your culinary host. Highly recommended!!

A very individual tour to the Montezuma waterfall. A nice hike along the jungle path. Andy always provides a lot of interesting details and context about nature and local culture, he gave us one of the best days of our holidays! Highly recommended!

This was the highlight of you trip. We were able to communicate with the locals, order food, shop in the local stores and all in Spanish. We had 90 minutes of Spanish lessons for 5 days with Andy. His teaching style is easy to grasp and effective. We will be his students for life.

Andy the owner is a great teacher. I have taken language classes at a university and Spanish lessons from other teachers. By far Andy is the best instructor I have ever had. He is patient with me, he is very encouraging, he is well organized, and he has a wonderful way of explaining the structure of the Spanish language. I took 3 weeks of intensive classes and my ability to communicate in Spanish improved greatly in that short a time. On a recent trip to Mexico City I was able to communicate surprisingly well with the locals. I am looking forward to continuing my Spanish lessons this coming winter when I visit Montezuma again.

I had a marvelous time studying with Andy, who runs Tico Spanish. He's a perceptive, patient teacher who makes learning fun, non-intimidating, and efficient. And he's perceptive about the cultural aspects of language. I really recommend studying with him!

I had a month of classes with Andy and it was probably the best month of my entire life. I improved sooo much in Spanish during that time, while having the time of my life in a little paradise village named Montezuma. Andy is a really good teacher and he's really there for his students. He has a different vision about education and he thinks that learning a langage comes with learning a culture. We talked about big subjects like climate change, immigration, etc. I really evolved on many ways, not just in Spanish. Muchas gracias Andy!!!
