About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- N4190RNcatherinep0 contributionsLoved it! Raul rocks! So much fun! Raul was fantastic- a great guide and an overall cool guy. Quite an adventure! The water wasn’t clear enough that day to allow for total visibility while snorkeling, but kayaking offered probably the best views of my entire trip.Written August 20, 2024
- Changling2350 contributionsBucket List ExperienceLoved every second. I've always wanted to try this and it did not disappoint. The water was warm, the guides were extremely friendly. The scenery was beautiful and the rapids were perfect intensity. They also provided pickup and drop-off with food included. It was a great day and I'd happily do it again.Written July 23, 2024

- Jb43750 contributionsEngrossing and fascinating dayThis was well-organized and interesting. Well worth the price. Grebin was a thoughtful, respectful, intelligent guide who also was our driver. We booked the day before and the email reservation response was quick. I sent an inquiry about hotel pickup, as ours wasn’t listed since it was in Alajuela. I received a response and also a follow up asking me to confirm. A link for the pickup location was sent. This was speedy. My husband and I took a taxi the 8 minutes to the pickup location and the guide was waiting. We drove to pick up The only other person on our tour. *Expect to make several pick up stops though and anticipate traffic. Patience is crucial. San Jose metropolitan area is so huge. Grebin told us many interesting historical facts and some anecdotes on the way to the volcano, answering all our questions. He moved between English and Spanish seamless, as our other passenger was from Mexico. We stopped at the main crater and at the lower viewing area and got 30 minutes to walk around. Perfect. Stopped at the basilica and he guided us, then allowed 10 minutes on our own. Met back at souvenir shop to browse and use toilet. We could not walk around inside the nave or up to the altar due to Mass but we did walk in and look around. We had another stop at the Orosi viewpoint and drove down to the ruins. Again we had 10-15 minutes to wander on our own. Grebin asked if we wanted lunch before or after the gardens. We all agreed on lunch and the Casona de Cafetal was peaceful, as we ate on the outdoor patio on the edge of the lake. About an hour. The local Meal was much better than average ! Not fast food. Our final stop at the gardens was amazing as Grebin gave us facts and led us around, also leaving some time for us to wander the orchids and Japanese garden ourselves. Drop off was good. Due to heavy traffic, Grebin called another driver to meet us up drive the other passenger back. Definitely recommend and we hope you get Grebin (Chewbacca)Written April 27, 2024
- Realistic_travellers0 contributionsGentle rafting trip for 2hrs seeing various birds & animals...We booked this trip on our tour companies recommendation (half day trip). There were 6 adults plus a guide in each of the boats (about 6 boats in our group but spaced out well). It was a relaxing 2 hour float with the guide pointing out numerous animals and birds. Sloth, monkeys, Brazilian long-nosed bats etc in the trees. Finished off with a chocolate presentation and a drink / late breakfast at the end. Orlando and Joseph our guides were great.Written April 9, 2024
- D2694NZalexo0 contributionsA must do in Playa Flamingo! One of the highlights of our Costa Rica trip! The crew was friendly, professional and made sure everyone was having a great time. The open bar was amazing bc they could make you anything including Coco Loco, a traditional coconut Cocktail from Costa Rica, with either alcohol or without (very accommodating for teens and those not drinking). The snorkling was so much fun as well, and Oscar was a great guide. We spent a little over an hour looking at all types of fish. The food was also delicious and the sunset was beyond gorgeous. I think the tour lasted about 4 hours which was well worth the price. Would highly recommend. Thank you to the crew: Jessica, Roy, Oscar and the other few whose name i cant remember 😅 but were amazing as well!Written March 25, 2024
- 943dougs0 contributionsCanceled confirmed tripTour operator canceled confirmed trip the day before with no explanation or alternative dates . I would never recommend this trip run by Panache in Playa Flamingo….Written March 19, 2024
- PMDMA0 contributionsAwesome dayWe booked this online and then drove there is a car we rented for a few days. Easy commute from Occidental Papagayo on fairly easy roads to navigate. The guides were fun, knowledgeable and ensured we were safe. Everyone on the river looked out for each other, from this company and the other company sharing the space. Paying cash was a real perk. The experience was great, lunch was very satisfying and the facilities were completely adequate. I would do the Terminator better next time :) 2 words….do thisWritten March 2, 2024
- Felipe P0 contributionsTrip to the Volcano!Nice trip, with a very knowledgable guide. Our tour departured at 6:30, going straight to the volcano. Then we've been to the other places, including the Basilica, which was not on the list, but was a nice inclusion.Written February 26, 2024
- AliObz0 contributionsThis tour is jam-packedTOUR GUIDE Our guide was Gravin / Chu cho (I’m not sure if I spelt his name/nickname correctly). Some tours have a guide and a separate driver. Gravin was both and did such an amazing job. He was full of great knowledge and answered all questions. It was also really nice of him to introduce everyone on the bus and where we were from. It’s the little things! IRAZU VOLCANO We drove to the top of the active volcano where we spent about 20/30 minutes taking in the view and taking pictures. Even though it was 10 degrees Celsius, I wasn't really cold (and I was wearing shorts). It was very windy, so bear that in mind if you’re wearing a hat! Note that you won’t see a lake as the water dried up back in 2019 I think. LANKESTER GARDENS This tour around the botanic garden was nice. Again, our guide was so full of knowledge and was telling us about the life cycle of the plants. There was some free time to walk around the Japanese garden at the end. LUNCH This was the last thing on the tour – it was tasty. You get a starter, main and dessert with coffee. The lunch was by a VERY beautiful lake. I definitely recommend walking down and just taking in the serene view and silence. N.B. there were other stops along the way, e.g., a Roman Catholic basilica, the Ujarras lookout site, the ruins of the oldest church in the city. This tour is jam-packed.Written February 11, 2024
- E9818TIrobh0 contributionsLoved it!Really wonderful experience. We’ve done several sunset boat tours in different countries and this was by far the best. Terrific crew, well organized, great service, a clean and well kept boat, lots of options for the swimming/snorkeling part, super convenient hotel pickup, a really fun atmosphere, and such gorgeous scenery. Pick this one.Written January 16, 2024
- helenaa5010 contributionsGreat ExperienceAllen was great and was very attentive to all guests needs. He emphasized safety which was very important. He and his crew served a delicious meal (late afternoon), we took the sunset cruise and saw dolphins and snorkeled and used all the boats amenities. the boat was not overcrowded and was well maintained. The music was fun and created a party atmosphere. Most of the people were families and we all enjoyed it very much. We docked for a while and snorkeled and swam, etc... i highly recommend.Written January 9, 2024
- TheTourist3210 contributionsGood tourVery much worth visiting. We had a very knowledgable tour guide, and the lunch was fantastic. Irazu volcano part is quite flat, and we had nearly 1 hour there, do consider visiting! The blue lake as shown in the picture is there after it rains, so don't expect to see it in the dry season.Written December 31, 2023
- V9930GDdianag0 contributionsPrivate mega combo Buena Vista excursionOur family had the best time! Our driver, Livingston, & tour guide,Jimmy, were amazing on our private excursion! They met our requests and exceeded our expectations with ziplining, horseback riding, lunch and mud bath and pool! Everyone had Buena Vista was very kind and hospitable. All were very enjoyable and we just had a wonderful time!! Highly recommend!Written December 13, 2023
- jamiehR6292SP0 contributionsThe Lankester Gardens were beautifulFor first part of trip, the Irazu Volcano was nice view of the crater. The lady of the angels church was very beautiful and appreciated that when asked questions the guide was very informative. The Lankester gardens were really pretty and the place was really well taken care of. The gardens made the trip well worth it. My favorite part was La Ceiba restaurant which was amazing. The food was tasty and presentation was delightful. I would recommend the tour and asking questions if want to get more from tour.Written October 14, 2023

It was a nice trip. Kind of a long drive in the shuttle van, but the area was nice. It was fun to ride horses along a river and up a bit of a climb to the waterfall area. Be warned the water and mud will splash up onto your legs and shoes, so don’t wear your nicest shoes. The guide was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in sharing his knowledge of the area and of the horses. There were several small waterfalls, but nothing spectacular. You can take pictures at one and then hike up a few minutes to two others to hop in for a quick dip in the water. The pools are small so you can’t really swim. It’s more of just standing in the water to cool off and take pictures. After you return they’ll serve a basic lunch. All in all, it was a good trip and worth the price.

The people were pleasant and the horses well cared for, but the ride was boring. We just plodded along a dirt road. It was very hot so the dip in the waterfall was nice but it is a very little waterfall and not a deep pool.
