Mulguri Waterfall Adventure
This was a great day trip from Manuel Antonio! We loved every minute of it and our guide Cristian was the best!! He is from Manuel Antonio and very knowledgeable about the history of the area.
It started out by arriving on secluded private land and having a nice cup of coffee. Then we hiked to an amazing suspension bridge and waterfall where you can swim if you like. We took our time and enjoyed the water and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Then, after we hiked and swam in the beautiful water we went to a local private home for the best homemade authentic Costa Rican meal. Cristian took lots of photos and sent them to us at the end of the day. It was a beautiful day and well worth your time!! It is truly an amazing experience like no other! Highly recommend this Mulguri Waterfall Adventure!!

A must do!
Out of all the excursions we did this one was our favorite, A priceless experience. We loved all of it; the ride with Shaggy, the horses, suspension bridge and waterfall but our favorite part was lunch with the family. Grandma made an excellent meal and said if we didn’t have 3 servings we would have to do the dishes...haha. They also served fresh lemonade and excellent coffee. I would recommend this trip to all and would do it again.

Shaggy was a great guide for this grand day of activities. The horse ride, waterfall swim, and authentic lunch was a perfect combo. Don’t miss out on this tour!

Toddler had a blast!
Nov 2019 • Family
We were a little worried that our two year old was too young for this tour but let me put your mind at ease, He LOVED it! We did the horseback riding plus the waterfall and it was great! Shaggy was always showing us plants, animals and local points of interest on our way there and back. The lunch at the family farm was all you would expect from a grandma’s cooking. It was delicious! If you are traveling with your young kids don't hesitate to book this tour. AMAZING!!

Great trip for kids and adults
Nov 2019
We had Christian take us from the hotel to the nature reserve - which is in the mountains. He was the sweetest. It's a 45-55 minute drive through the city and up a mountain that was very curvy and rocky. If you get carsick take pills! When we arrived, we had fresh watermelon and pineapples near a papaya grove. Very beautiful. Then you go on a 60 minute easy horseback trail. I never ride horses and my 9 & 11 year old had little experience but it was very easy. You ride 30 minutes to a river and suspension bridge to take photos and ride 30 minutes back. This ride was 85% in shade. Then you get into the car and drive to the waterfalls. It was a small waterfall but very pretty and refreshing. Very rocky though. Actually not too cold at all once you get in. We got to jump from the landing down to the water! Afterwards, it was a short 3 minute drive to a local home owned by Miguel and his family. They made a traditional Costa Rican lunch with fresh juice, rice, home made tortilla, chicken and salad. EXCELLENT! They are the sweetest people. BEST PART: there is only 1 tour a day from Hotel San Bada to this reserve which they own. No other tourists will be there while you are on this tour so it's completely private. It's a true nature trip.

Please bring:
Long pants so you don't get eaten by ants
Light long sleeve shirt so you don't get sunburned. The ride is in shade but it does get hot when you're in the son
Tevas or water shoes because the waterfall ground is rocky and it hurts your feet.
Wear bug spray & sunscreen

The guides bring:
Water
Fruit
Towels

Best part -- Christian takes photos and air drops them to you at the end. There's no price gouging on photos!!

The Costa Ricans seem to never ask for tips (unlike in Mexico or even Hawaii) so please don't forget to tip!! Also, my son had a fever and on the way to the reserve he stopped at a pharmacy but it was closed so he stopped at another one on the way back to the hotel so we could by Tylenol. I mean -- how great is that?? Highly recommend!!

The Honeymooners Dream Come True
Oct 2019 • Couples
Where do we even begin?! Don't waste anymore time and book this tour! My husband and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. It was all a dream come true, but this tour was EVERYTHING!! We had to keep rescheduling due to weather, however the tour guide showed up one morning and asked if we wanted to go still and took us on a private tour!
I first have to pay our respects to Shaggy. He was beyond amazing! He is a native to this beautiful country and the wealth of knowledge he shares about the culture, the community, nature and the agriculture was UNBELIEVABLE! He cut bark for us (cinnamon), showed us special plants used for medicine, pointed out tons of nature and taught us SO MUCH! Most tourist would never know a majority of this beautiful info either.... It made me fall in love with CR even more. Shaggy was totally in his element and it was a dream to be blessed with all his knowledge. We Love You Shaggy!
The tour itself was totally Epic.
There was about an hour ride through the beautiful mountains of untouched CR. There was some bumpy roads (CR Massage) but it was all just part of the journey! Shaggy will show you a ton on the way too! SO AWESOME! We made it to the beautiful farm and the view was absolutely breathtaking! We then got on the horses. We rode up and down the mountain and went to a cool river and took pics in the bridge. We then dropped off the horses and took a short ride and hike to two amazing spring fed waterfalls. We crossed a very high free swinging bridge, and again the view....WOW! We then went swimming and it felt so good!! Swimming in waterfalls?! How dreamy! After all of that fun we were then blessed to go to a true Tico families house on the farm and have an authentic CR Meal. O M G! The food was so delicious and all from their farm! This was the icing on the cake for us. We truly felt like we got to know the REAL COSTA RICA! SO BEAUTIFUL!
I cannot put into words how awesome this experience truly was for us. It was so humbling and beautiful. We will NEVER forget it! A piece of my heart will forever be there. Thank You Shaggy! Pura Vida ❤

** We then got a room at Hotel Sanbada and it was beautiful!
** The service you get from all the staff here was 5 Stars.
** My pics won't upload for some reason, so you will just have to take my word.

Blessings from Saint Petersburg, FL
We'll Be Back ❤

Saw Real Costa Rica
Shaggy took our family on a fantastic adventure! We spent the day picking us up at our hotel, driving us through the rainforest to horseback riding, swimming in waterfalls, and a personally prepared lunch from a family. The scenery was incredible, and Shaggy enlightened us with so much knowledge of agriculture and animals in Costa Rica. You won't believe how much of your food and flavorings comes from this country.

Best experience we had in Costa Rica
Jun 2019 • Family
This afternoon was one of the best we had in Costa Rica. The horseback ride was easy- we had a few in our group with no experience on a horse and they did well. The ride was beautiful through the jungle to a hanging bridge where the local high school kids walk to get to school. The swimming hole was a blast and refreshing ; the walk there was an easy trail, though it did involve stairs and slopes if that is a problem. The lunch afterward was great; tasty, and felt very authenticate. Everyone was so nice, and Shaggy was the best guide ever. I cannot recommend this experience enough.

Authentic local experience
Jul 2019 • Family
I'm writing from CR right now, had the tour this morning. It's the "rainy" season which I also highly recommend since it only rains at night, temperatures are comfortable and there are no crowds and hardly any bugs which I can't explain (I've come armed with lots of repellents). We were the only ones with Mauricio (Shaggy) today. It's kind of hard to believe because the whole place is amazing. I'd like to second everything other reviewers wrote and add that I freaked out on the hanging bridge until Mauricio explained how safe it was with the many steel cables and quarterly technical inspection. The home-made meal was an amazing experience if you enjoy real food and real people. The views are hard to describe, the waterfalls... OMG... The car ride was bumpy and hard on my back, but I believe it was a 100% worth it. Don't forget to bring water shoes or open sandals, rocks in the waterfall are hard on your feet.
