- Valerie B00Way too expensiveWe booked this tour in April 2023 and were not satisfied. The guide was ok and as always with animal sightings there is a lot of luck involved, we knew this in advance so it’s ok that we didn’t see a leatherback turtle. However, what I cannot wrap my head around is the price of 120 USD for two people for this tour. We drove with our own car to Gandoca beach (so no shuttle involved), met the guide there and then “waited” for the turtles to appear for three hours. There is a night patrol monitoring the beach and they flash their red lights if a turtle comes out of the water. So basically, after walking a few minutes up and down the beach, we sat on a fallen tree, the guide played games on his cellphone (which I also do not understand since we were asked to not use white lights on the beach) and waited for the signs of the patrol. We didn’t have a shuttle or snacks (which we didn’t need but were also not included in the price) and there was no entrance fee to the national park, so I really don’t understand why on earth this tour is so expensive. Wouldn’t recommend.
- sakre12900Turtle night tourWe did a night turtle watching tour. It was well organized , very knowledgeable guide and we actually saw a leatherback turtle nest. It was so special. Also we booked the tour the night before through what’s app , paid with PayPal and everything worked out fine.
- V7691OUsimonm00Chocolate, Waterfall and Shaman TourThis tour did not quite live up to what was sold, and was a little unstructured. Our guide Anthony was fantastic though, and did a great job of bringing it to life. He really wanted us to have a good time and went out of his way to do so. Five stars for the guide, it just wasn’t what was expected.
- paulinaaU8955NX00Chocolate and Waterfalls, oh my!We are so glad we went on the chocolate and waterfall tour! After days of beaches and jungles it was very special to learn about local BriBri culture, uses of native flora, and participate in traditional ways of making chocolate. Our guide Kendall clearly had a deep respect for the indigenous world view and was a friendly and knowledgeable interpreter for us. The waterfall was the perfect end to our day, and he patiently gave us all the time we needed to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Would definitely recommend!
- E4452HFkr00Excellent service and great experience overallOur guide was very friendly and helpful, especially given our lack of Spanish language abilities. We toured the lagoon and saw a number of animals and birds. The guide saw things we would have never noticed. Gandoca was a nice change of pace after San José and Puerto Viejo. We were the only ones at the beach!
- rebeccagZ4619WP00Unforgettable and wholesome experienceOn our last evening in Costa Rica we decided to squeeze in a nighttime sea turtle watching. Guide was very knowledgable and passionate about the area and turtles, especially behind that he was local. We learned a lot about turtles that evening. We did end up waiting for quite awhile in fear that no turtles would appear but we had the change to witness a leatherback turtle arrive on the beach and lay her eggs. The animal was absolutely incredible and impressive to see - so big and prehistoric looking. Absolutely amazing and wholesome experience - one that we will never forget. Sadly no photos are allowed but they make our memories even more special.
- stanm60600Gorgeous scenery and wildlife with a great guideThe best part, besides of course the amazing scenery, was our guide Jaunito. He has a great sense of humor and eye for wildlife. Totally knowledgeable. Saw lots of various animals and tasted various fruit found along the way.
- 934shamir00Great Costa Rican tourVery beautiful scenery, saw lots of herron, a few monkeys. Not a lot of animals but that’s not the tours fault. Finished the tour with fresh pipa freia from the owners home. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
- Yourtripisshort41200Great kayak tourGreat kayak tour. The guide was knowledgeable & pointed out animals along the way. He also took us hiking after the kayaking.
- Departure75175300Transit from Puerto Viejo to Bocas del ToroSuper service on both sides of the border and with the boat transfert to Bocas del Toro. Fast and easy at the Panama border. Very satisfied !
- GregR1123500Great travel agency, and Neftali is awesome! We used the services of very friendly operator, and he arranged a great walk thru Cahuita Nature Reserve Park, and he also took us for the whole day trip to Panama, to beautiful Boca islands beach! Well-organized, good prices, and he's a delight to work with!
- AcbMei00Great Price for transfer to Bocas and good serviceWe booked a very good priced return transfer to Bocas. The price was very good, we saved 14$ each. We were picked up on time from our hotel in PV. Driver was excellent, very safe and helped us with our luggage and passports/exit visa 9$ to pay at the border. Then took us across the bridge to meet our Panama shuttle which was waiting for us and other passengers. We were then helped with passport entry before waiting for other passengers and then drove to Ferry 40 mins followed by quick transfer to Bocas.
- GregoryStwear00Great tour in the Gandoca-Manzanillo refuge. We booked an activity with this company recommended by friends. The area was amazing, a lot of nature just what we wanted, our guide named Giberto was very attentive to show us the many species that inhabit the area. After almost 2.5hr walking we arrived at the small community of Gandoca where we had a delicious typical lunch. We recommend good footwear and hydration. We loved the service punctuality and knowledge of the guide.
- jodygodfrey00Serene Peaceful and highly informativeThe drive was close to 40 min. and was scenic and pleasant. It's very close to the border. We had a short walk through absolutely beautiful gardens to the boat. The only sounds you hear are birds it's so very peaceful. Floating along and through the mangroves, pointing out things we might have missed. Better than a spa day. I did use bug spray, and didn't get any bites at all. Learned about some of the things growing there, got to taste some tasty fruits and enjoyed the drive back to my hotel. I highly recommend this outing.
- SarahS762300Amazing worthwhile experience!I had the pleasure of going on a full day and night tour with Gandoca Tours and had an amazing time! We took a boat from Manzanillo, a small coastal town south of Puerto Viejo, to Punta Mona (Monkey Point). The boat trip was fantastic, it was a beautiful day and we saw a sea of dolphins! We then walked from Monkey Point to Gandoca where we hung out until it was time for the night turtle watching tour. Experiencing Leather Back sea turtles come on shore and lay eggs was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Neftaly is honest, knowledgable, professional and provides an excellent service to his clients. Whether it is the tour to the indigenous reservation and water falls or the sea turtle tour you are sure to have an excellent experience. Gandoca Tours takes care of their clients ensuring that they are comfortable and getting the most from the experience. I would recommend Gandoca Tours in a heart beat and look forward to returning in 2019.

This tour was one of the highlights of my time in Costa Rica! The family that teaches you about the culture, history and their present way of life was so interesting. I was part of a group with four other people. The family made all of us so comfortable that we were able to relax and joke with the group and the guide. We were shown how to survive in the jungle, how to make chocolate and we participated in a sweat lodge ceremony. We had a delicious lunch. Then we went and took a swim in a beautiful waterfall. The whole time was surreal. I plan to go again. This is an activity that should not be missed!
