About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ruben G0 contributionsSell you a Tour and Wash Their HandsThey sold me a tour to Pacuare water rafting, which I paid $111 per person. Next day shuttle picked us up and one we were already seated and driving the tour person tells us we are not doing Pacuare, so we ended up at another river that had nothing to do with what I paid for. I asked the tour person how long they haven’t done the other tour and was told 3 days. One mentioned this through WhatsApp to Caribe Fun Tour, they washed their hands by saying they didn’t know, which tells me there’s no communication. This is the same company suggested by Banana Azul that waited one night before my arrival to let me know the pool has and will be closed. Seems they wait to notify the tourist because now you’re stuckWritten November 10, 2024
- joshuarM1149ZU0 contributionsThieves!I booked a shuttle to Panama with this company and I had to cancel due to a death. I contacted them immediately to request a refund on the 25th May to which they eventually responded with the fact I will receive a full refund in 1-2 months but it’s been over 2 months and I haven’t heard back from them ever again despite chasing via WhatsApp and email every week since June! It’s now 28th July. I Do not recommend this as they have stolen $180. On our travels over 50 people have said they had the same thing happen using this company.Written July 28, 2024

How they spotted some well camouflaged animals in the rain forest felt like magic. The chocolate making experience with the Bribri was incredible!Written July 14, 2024

- lindasR1757PM0 contributionsCaribe Fun Tours not there when I needed themWe had Caribe Fun Tours organize some of our accommodations and transport from place to place around Costa Rica. (I definitely recommend using a transport service, rather than driving yourself on the roads of northern, rural Costa Rica) We started in Liberia and finished 17 days later in San Jose. We asked for more up-scale accommodations, but several were not that nice including Oceans Two/Blue Mirador in Manuel Antonio. We expected to be picked up from a San Jose hotel at 4 AM to go to the airport for an early return flight. This private transfer, that was arranged by Caribe Fun Tours, did not show up. We waited and waited, called the office (they are closed overnight) and emailed. No response. We hastily arranged a trip to the airport and paid $50 USD cash (this transport was supposed to be included in the paid itinerary from Caribe Fun Tours). When I contacted Caribe Fun Tours, using all the email addresses I had, to find out what happened to this absent transport, and asked for reimbursement for the $50 USD, I have had NO response. Not even an acknowledgment of my emails or an apology. Nothing. Not impressed with that level of service. Up until this last morning (other than the disappointing hotel stay in Manuel Antonio), I would have given 4 stars. Because of the poor customer service when I needed help for something that Caribe Fun Tours had arranged, I dropped my rating to 2 stars.Written April 14, 2024
- brjcooper0 contributionsA perfect day of enjoying the natural wonders of the Costa Rican Caribbean coastThis was an awesome day. We took the Cahuita National Park, BriBri chocolate and waterfall tour. Our guide, Shiloh, was amazing. Without hesitating, he’d stop and ask us what we saw, then tell us where to look. How he knew a sloth would be in that exact location is still a mystery but that’s what we get with best guide. We saw a dozen sloths at least, cappuccino monkeys, and too many birds, reptiles and insects to mention. In the van, he and Fernand told us stories of growing up in the area and a history of the land. Making chocolate with the BriBri nation was a lot of fun and eye opening. We got to taste the cocoa beans from immature beans, right through to roasting, grinding and making hot chocolate. The waterfall was a great cap off to the day. I only wish we had had the energy to enjoy the company of hosts more at this stop. A perfect day of enjoying the natural wonders of the Costa Rican Caribbean coast.Written March 24, 2024
- 29charlied0 contributionsExcellent Wildlife Photography Location! This is one of the best wildlife refuges in the country and everytime I go, Isee something new! And I usually go once a year! Just like the national parks, you see more wildlife in a wildlife refuge with a guide, so be sure to ask for one at your hotel or at the park entrance! I two hours or so I photographe 9 species of birds, 12 species of butterflies and 8 species of other wildlife! I'm just sharing 3 photos, one in each of those three categories.Written March 13, 2024
- Mvaker0 contributionsBest experience we could have had in Costa Rica Adrian nailed it!One of the best nature hikes and guides we have ever experienced Our guide Adrian was extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of tour and gave us an incredible experience This cost of this tour was way under valued Personal fun and very accommodating Hard to express the overall experience Best part of our trip to Costa RicaWritten March 8, 2024
- Stephanie D0 contributionsFun and professional experience!Friendly and professional service! My husband and I were lucky to meet this group and service. We travelled from San Jose to this beautiful beach town, and was referred to this company for our transportation needs, and we were very happy! We enjoyed the taxi services of the owner of this company and for other rides, we enjoyed the equally professional and fun service of the ‘Tuk Tuks’ which the same company provided. And was equally efficient, and very creative for this environment! We were very pleased by the friendly, efficient and professional service during these days spent on the Caribbean side. It’s our 2nd trip to Costa Rica, 1st trip to the Caribbean side, and I hope to return again! Very cool beach vibe, while at same time- felt safe and appreciated as a guest. - DomCanada0 contributionsThe Great Green Macaw project is amazing! This tour was our favourite out of the 4 that we took with Caribe Fun Tours - mainly because how much we loved the Great Green Macaw Ara Project reserve. It's such a special place and it's a must do while in the Puerto Viejo area - especially if you love animals/birds. Would definitely recommend using Caribe Fun Tours while in Puerto Viejo area.Written February 25, 2024
- DomCanada0 contributionsGreat company and a great tour!We ended up booking 4 different tours with Caribe Fun Tours while staying in Punta Cocles and loved all of them. The guides - especially Shiloh - were great. This specific tour had a nice combo of the Cahuita national park and its wildlife and then a really cool waterfall (and a very quick but full of wildlife hike to the waterfall). Would definitely recommend using Caribe Fun Tours while in Puerto Viejo area.Written February 25, 2024
- mbreaux50 contributionsBest Massage in Costa Rica, Hands DownNot enough kudos to express the magic of Michelle’s hands for the numerous massages she has given me at Banana Azul in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. I’ve been coming to PV several times a year for a number of years and I’ve gotten massages everywhere from Cahuita to Manzanillo. I’ve paid triple the price at other places and none come close to her skill. Not even in the ballpark. She’s got a physical intuitiveness that guides her hands so that the pressure is exactly what your body requires. I always do 90 minute sessions and with her, I’m “in the zone “ almost immediately. She doesn’t run her mouth, doesn’t ask a bunch of inane questions- she just works. It’s a beautiful thing. I had to ASK the tour company for a means to leave her a review. That’s a crime because she’s so good her face should be on the marquee. It’s a part of the hotel, literally on the beach in a cool, well equipped, comfortable hut with the waves crashing a few feet away. Seriously, it’s just absolutely perfect. Ask for Michelle and make sure you get her. Two thumbs up, extremely high recommendation.Written January 18, 2024
- BackPacker6967310 contributionsThree Times The Fun!Our tour guide, Adrian, provided the best day! We so many animals that we would never have found without his expertise. He shared interesting insights and information and answered our many questions. The walk through Cahuita park was amazing. Our next stop was the Bri Bri chocolate (cacao) tour. So interesting and fun! It was so much more than a tour - cooking lesson and tasting of the indigenous method of making cacao along with a delicious lunch. Our last stop was the Bri Bri waterfall, which was a short hike down to a lovely swimming hole and waterfall. We watched local kids on holiday diving from the rocks while we enjoyed cooling off in the water and eating a delicious pineapple that Adrian brought along. Great guide, great day, great country. - emilymT5852ES0 contributionsFantastic Rafting Tour and shuttle service - great customer service tooWent with Caribe twice. Once for a simple transfer (PV to SJO) and once for a transfer with Rafting on Pacuere River (La Fortuna to PV). Both were excellent. We were picked up on time in comfortable mini vans, I was able to change my shuttle date last minute without any issues and the rafting experience itself was AMAZING (beautiful 3 hour rafting experience with guide).Written December 16, 2023
- E7210DMcynthias0 contributionsJungle night tour in ManzanilloMy adult family of 5 booked a jungle night tour. Our licensed guide Adrian shared so much knowledge about Costa Rica, history, culture, food, animals, plant life…he was so great! And then to get nighttime access to Manzanillo was very special. The walk was super interesting to go from the beach with caymans to deep jungle with towering tree canopies. We saw a lot of wildlife including some unusual things like a mouse opossum. Our tour was rained out the first night (total downpour as we arrived at Manzanillo) but Caribe made it no problem to reschedule to the following evening. A benefit for us really as we had another car ride to talk about Costa Rica with Adrian. A tip for the night tour: wear boots or shoes and pants that can fit tightly around your ankles to keep the leaf cutter soldier ants out. They like to use the human paths for their highways.Written October 21, 2023

This turned out to be one of our favorite experiences in Costa Rica. This Center rescues all types of animals with the hopes of eventual re-release back into nature. We learned a great deal from a very knowledgeable volunteer and guide, Amelia. Just being here and learning about the various animals (mammals, birds, reptiles) made us want to volunteer for a spell. What a wonderful organization. See it!

The two experiences were very different but both amazing. The work that is done by the Rescue Center was so interesting and heartwarming. Johnny was our guide. He has volunteered there for years and a perfect combination of humorous, informative and passionate. We were changed. Our Punta Uva hike was guided by Fernan. He was supposed to just be our driver but was great as a guide. Bit of a challenging hike for us old folks but so fun and again, informative

Such a great morning! Our volunteer guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and we got to learn a lot about the all of the animals that they rescue and work hard to return back to their natural habitat. It's nice to see such great effort being put into taking care of this earth. It was a great experience for my family.

Alan was THE BEST! He was our guide and you could tell he was passionate about the work they do there. He kept the tour informative and entertaining. It was nice to see all they do for wildlife and how mindful they are of every animal's needs. I will definitely be back next time I am in Puerto!

Of course I went there to see Jaguar. And I am disappointed because I don’t see Jaguar just the name of that center. I have been to two weeks in Costa Rica and I will see a lot of animals. My expectation was be close to the emails but what I se it was not enough. Of course I like people go well for animals to help and I appreciate

What an awesome tour. The visit through the Jaguar Rescue center wasn’t just a quick look around a local zoo. Instead, the guide described the rescue & release efforts of local animals back into the wild. After the educational tour through the Jaguar Center our guide, Adrian, led us along the coast on an easy to moderate hike. The hike lasted over an hour. Adrian pointed out a sloth, educated us on local tree formations, taught us about coral reef formations in Costa Rica, & so much more. The experience was very interactive & I would easily give it 5/5 stars!

An amazing day and amazing guide! We have a group of 3 generations (65-12) and everyone loved it! Adrian was an amazing tour guide, full of knowledge and so personable! First stop was the jaguar rescue center, which is such a cool place with a great mission. The hike was next at Punta Uva. Adrian told us about the fauna and flora, took us to the look out point that felt like the end of the world, and we enjoyed some pineapple on the beach. Adrian helped us spot a sloth and a family of howler monkeys during our hike!
The 12 year old rated the day an 11/10!
Highly recommend!

Highly recommend a visit. They do incredible work rescuing animals throughout the region. There is an animal hospital onsite. Those that are not able to go back in the wild are on display. We saw baby sloths, beautiful birds, spider monkeys, etc. Our English speaking guide was personable, passionate about his work, & full of fun stories & facts. Entrance fee contributes to operation of facility. I recommend bug spray before going in.
