Larry was fun and the tour enjoyable
Larry was loads of fun and very knowleadgeable. The tour felt rushed and the restaurant at the end was very slow, which was surprising. The tour followed the path that many of the ships tours followed as there is not that much to see/do in Puerto Limon. Larry gave us lots of history about the area and the economics of that part of Costa Rica

    STEPHEN ROCKS!
I can’t see enough great things about Stephen as a tour guide- he was one of the highlights of our time in Costa Rica! We saw all kinds of animals like sloths and moneys and he went out of his way to take us to his favourite local resteraunt to have the best meal I have had the whole trip! He goes above and beyond!

    Nice tour for german-speaking
In general, it was a good tour and a nice guide. But even though it was mentioned that it will be in English/German, in reality, it was provided 95% in German, and only 5% was translated for the 3 of us to English. So, if you speak only English, consider other tours.

    Great Excursion
Booked as an excursion whilst on our cruise. Very well organised. Met outside the cruise terminal and our mini bus was waiting for us. Our guide, Christina was very friendly and spoke excellent English. She gave us lots of interesting information about all the places we visited and was happy to answer any questions. We went to a fruit stall, banana plantation, had a boat trip on the Tortuguero canal and finally a stop at a beach. The time spent at each place was just about right. Would definitely recommend as an alternative to the ship’s excursions.

    Larry is the Man!
You won't find a better tour of Limon! Larry was the absolute best tour guide and Eric can spot a sloth from a mile away! I would give this tour and Larry more stars if possible.

An amazing experience in Costa Rica
This was definitely the best excursion of our cruise. Larry, our guide, was funny, informative & very passionate about his job & Costa Rica as a whole. Our driver Eric(?) was incredible when it came to spotting sloths up in the trees etc which was one of our highlights. We then enjoyed our boat trip & the relaxing time at Playa Bonita. Thank you to all the team at "Relax Day Tours" for a wonderful tour which worked so efficiently from the moment we booked online to being dropped off back at the cruise terminal.

Not alot of beach time but plenty to see and learn about the area.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide, Larry, was very informative and accommodating as he attempted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to experience the activities to the fullest. He also made sure that we had the best drivers (on land and water), Jamani and Fredrico, as they were extremely knowledgeable and attentive making sure we saw the different animals that live in the areas that we visited.

Fabulous guides! A perfect little taste of Costa Rica!
We had a amazing time on our tour! Larry was a fantastic guide. He was funny, kind and incredibly knowledgeable about his homeland. We were also impressed with our driver Giovanni and our boat “captain” Fredericko! They were both able to spot so many wonderful points of nature and wildlife along the way! The tour itself was great. Pick up was easy. We found Larry right away and were escorted over to the nearby awaiting transportation. We were able to get a good little taste of the area and were back to our cruise ship with plenty of time to shop a little bit in the souvenir area at the port. Bravo to this company for hiring these terrific people who took such great care of us and made our day in Costa Rica a memorable one.

    Great shore excursion.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with our guide Larry and our driver Franklin. They made our time in Costa Rica extra special. We loved the Canal Boat Tour, Banana Plantation Tour, Farmer’s Market Tastings, Playa Bonita and a really cool Cathedral visit. I can’t say enough nice things about both Larry and Franklin. We had a blast and highly recommend this tour.

Greatest bang for your buck hands down! A very new comfortable van‼️‼️👍‼️👍‼️👍
The tour was readily available, the gentleman was helpful and holding a sign with my name on it ‼️👍‼️ His name was Juan he was fabulous! His driver was a great spotter of many creatures 😊 The driver would safely pull over so we all could see and take pictures On to the canal’s, the boat operator was so very friendly and a wonderful captain, being safe and also pulling in to tight spaces 👌 Frequent stops for bathroom breaks and the tour guides provided water and delicious mango juice a wonderful treat 😀 The rain forest was amazing and it actually rained when we were there 🌧️ amazing He also recommended his favorite coffee and on the way back stopped at a supermarket ‼️ I bought some coffee and some vanilla extract!!!

    Amazing time, would highly recommend
We did the Zip Line and Tortuguero Canals Excursion and had Esteban as our guide. It was amazing. Zip lining was super fun and in the canals, we saw sloths and monkeys. Esteban was very knowledgeable and friendly, he really made the trip unforgettable.

You meet your driver once you exit the port and find him in the crowd of folks waiting. That went quite well. The van was pretty good with AC. The drive to the rain forest was about an hour and mostly on good roads. Nice local scenery and villages along the way. The rainforest itself was disappointing. You only walk about a 1/2 mile. The cage ride down the mountain at the top of the forest was good. They take you to some building which I did not care for (snakes, lizards, frogs, etc...). After the rainforest we were driven to the canal. (we did receive water and juice once we asked for it.). At the canal, it was very disorganized. We ended up on a boat with a full group of German tourists (no English explanations). The canal is just ok. Saw a couple of animals and birds.

We are sorry to hear that our services were not to your liking. We cannot respond for Veragua Rainforest, as it is a private ecological reserve, and the exhibits are only a part of the attractions they offer. Many guests are very satisfied, a very small minority like yourselves apparently do not find it interesting. But we do take responsibility for the boat tour, it was a mistake to put you with a group of Germans, we told the German speaking guide to speak English as well, which apparently she did not. That is why we offer you a 100% refund per our satisfaction guarantee, as the tour was not satisfactory for you. Please contact us as soon as possible. Our sincere apologies.

We had such a great time and ended up with a private tour with Esteban. We watched the people from the ship experience the same things, only in a large group with lines and a crowded bus. We also paid less! We saw sloths and toucans. Highly recommended! Ask for Esteban. He told us so much about the local area and had a great sense of humor.

We booked via Princess so I hope this review is about the right company. This the tour we took and we enjoyed it immensely. The guide, Edrei, was informative and engaged. He moved to tour at a decent, but not rushed pace, provide good narratives and was very good. The Rainforest portion of the tor took the majority of the time and included two long bus rides over some bumpy, narrow, winding roads. Our driver was (thankfully) very skilled and Edrei helped pass the time well with stories and demos. A spoiler, if you have him, you may never view chocolate quite the same again. The time at the rainforest included a couple of brief lectures by staff / scholar / naturalists with real insight into the ecosystem and the University Foundations efforts at preservation and conservation. We toured a large number of exhibits, had a nice tram ride down and back up,(thank goodness!) about 3300 feet to a small creek and trail leading to a waterfall. My wife took the hike to the falls and reported they were quite pretty, but assured me I made the right choice to rest and watch a toucan in a tree near the tram station. Tour included a decent lunch. From the Rainforest we made to the journey to the Canals for a pleasant ride on a boat - spotted several interesting birds, a couple of sloths (one a mother with a baby) and a few monkeys - no caiman or crocs. The ride was pleasant and a good ending to a long day. We returned to a welcomed, refreshing array of fresh fruit prior to the short drive back to the ship. If you are on a cruise ship that offers this excursion, it is strongly recommended,

Booked this trip through a cruise line. Picked up up at the dock and had a comfortable bus trip to the rainforest through local villages. Part of the trip was a gravel road, but seeing the local homes and flora/fauna on the way added to the feel of the trip. My wife was having problems with a recent hip replacement surgery and the staff at the beginning of the walk offered a free wheelchair for her. There seemed to be only one wheelchair there, so don't assume it will be available. The rainforest walk has two versions. A fairly flat boardwalk trip through the rainforest was guided by a informative guide who pointed out local things of interest. The other (which we did not take) had a trip to a waterfall with 175 steps to get to the waterfall. The butterfly house was amazing. After a hot lunch, we were bussed to theTortuguero Canals where we boarded a small river boat and in the short, smooth ride on the boat, we saw several sloths, howler and white faced monkeys who followed the boat, crocodile, and lizards. It was the highlight of the trip. Tony was our tour guide throughout the entire trip and was excellent.

We booked with Relax Day Tours based on some other reviews. We were in port for the entire day and the price was very reasonable for the day. Frederico and Florian was waiting for us as we walked off the ship and showed us everything possible in Limon. They were flexible with what we felt like doing and went out of their way to make sure we were able to see everything that was possible. Incredible day and we highly recommend them. Such a fun day and wonderful memories!!!

The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish.
We were picked up outside of the port and driven to Veragua. We stopped on the way because the driver found a sloth that we were able to get out and see. we also so a snake in the road on the way up to the nature preserve. Our guide there was fantastic and we learned so much. The aerial tram was beautiful.
After wards we were driven to the Tortuguero canals where we saw a Boa, sloths, iguanas, monkeys. During the drive time Maria was giving us great conservation information and about Costa Rica in general. She provided bananas, bottled water, and mango juice. But please bring snacks and food with you! There is no break or stops that have food so from 9am -5pm you will be without a meal.
This excursion is worth doing and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Limon.

It would be better if the tour guides can all speak English well. It was hard to understand one of the tour guides.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your experience was not excellent, we at Relax Day Tours do our best to have talented guides with very good English language skills. However, it's much harder for us to control the quality of the guides employed at Veragua Rainforest (they are an external company to Relax Day Tours). We are in discussion with the management of Veragua as it's very important to us that they address the issues raised by our mutual guests. Thank you for your valuable feedback. Kind regards.

Our experience was so so. We didn’t see much wildlife - no monkeys or sloths in the Rainforest and it is insanely expensive to enter. Our tour guide also did not speak English very well so it was very difficult to understand. On the tortugero canal there were some sloths and birds but way up in the trees so difficult to view. The boat ride was somewhat pleasant but there were houses knocked down recently that were inhabited by “narcos.” I overhead the guides speaking in Spanish. I’m not sure if the area is very safe. Also, there was a person in a boat intentionally creating a wake and zooming up and down the canal. I probably wouldn’t go ever again and really don’t recommend the tour. Spend your time in Manuel Antonio and you can hike on your own and see tons of wildlife and amazing beaches up close!

We are sorry to read that your experience was "so so". Veragua Rainforest is a private reserve, and as you experienced yourself, you pay the entrance fee, not us, and you really can't expect much wildlife in a reserve with concrete trails, an aerial tram and exhibits. In Veragua, you can also request a better guide than the one they give you. Juan Carlos was your guide for the rest of the tour (except Veragua), and he does speak very good English. We also assigned you our star driver Erick, who was able to find some animals on the side of the road, but he told me that you didn't want to see them, he found two 2-toed sloths close enough to take a selfie, but you didn't want to get out of the vehicle. You could also find monkeys. So when you have the chance, in nature you have to take the chance, this is not a zoo where the animals are locked up. And you are right, in Manuel Antonio National Park there are many animals, what you forgot to mention is that this park is on the other side of Costa Rica, on the Pacific coast, it is not in the Caribbean of the country where you were at this moment, your cruise ship arrived in Puerto Limon, Caribbean of Costa Rica. Best regards.

Booked this through Norwegian Cruise. If your lucky enough to get Michael as your bus tour guide, then good for you. The road there is a bit rough, but the bus smooths out the ride. Torguguero canals was good as we saw about 5 sloths within 100 yards. The reason for 3 stars is because Veragua Rainforest was overbooked their park on the day we visited. What should have taken 2-3 hours, took 5 and made us cut our Tortuguero canals excursion short, which was great even for the shorter time. We arrived back to our ship about 90 minutes late, but since it was booked through the ship, they really had to wait for us. So late arriving back at our ship that they had the bus pull all the way up on the dock, right next to the gangway. People on our cruise looking down from the ship actually cheered as we exited the bus because they knew the ship could finally leave for the next port.

Sorry gentleman, you have posted your review on the wrong company, you did not travel with us. We are Relax Day Tours, a small local tour company based in Puerto Limon, and we do not sell our tours through any cruise line nor do we have contracts with any cruise lines, which includes Norwegian Cruise. We only sell through TripAdvisor, Viator or our own site by our own means. Also, no cruise ship is going to wait for us if we make the big mistake of arriving late, which we are extremely careful not to do. We do not enter right next to the gangway from the cruise ship, our guests meet us outside the port near the public street, and we say goodbye to them there too (on time). We are sorry for your bad experience, but in this case please complain to Norwegian Cruise. If you want a much better tour experience, we recommend that you book with us next time instead of taking the cruise line's big bus. Best regards from Puerto Limon.
