BEST tour ever! Perfect combo of activities and amazing tour guides
We had the absolute BEST day with Risheylin and Uber! We did the chocolate tour/waterfalls/Cahuita National Park and it was the perfect combination of activities. The tour with the Bri Bri indigenous people was informative and the perfect length for our 6 year old to enjoy. Making hot chocolate from raw cacao beans at the end was so cool. The short hike to the waterfalls to cool off was perfect timing and Rish took so many great photos and videos for us. They took us to the most gorgeous beach front spot for lunch after and then we got the national park and saw sloths, monkeys, butterflies, and more! Rish was so accommodating, sweet with our daughter, and incredible knowledgeable about all of the plants and animals we saw her. Her expertise and love of her home country Costa Rica was so evident and made the experience so meaningful. 10/10 would recommend, we will be back!! Thank you Rish!

        Best Tour Ever!
Nicole was knowledgeable about the flora and fauna while Yiyi was very entertaining. They took care of our every need and made the adventure fun and relaxing! We snorkeled, saw monkeys and other unique animals, and took in breathtaking views of the coastline! They were excellent guides!

        Great Tour Experience
Risheylin and GiGi were fantastic on our tour! They were willing to take all of our pictures and help us understand everything! We needed recommendations for further activities and they were even willing to talk to the companies themselves to help us. One of my top best tours in Costa rica, especially thanks to them!

        Great and fun adventure!
Katherin and Edward was amazing! The van picked up and dropped us off close to the ship's entrance. Great for people who are having trouble walking the distance. Katherin is informative, funny, and friendly. I highly recommend this tour!

        5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This was a great tour! My husband and I were picked up from our hotel in Cahuita and rode 45 min or so to the location. We met with Luis, the shaman, who talked to us about the cacao plant and led us in some of the ceremonial aspects of harvesting it. We participated in the process, tasting the 4 phases of chocolate along the way, as well as some of the other plants. We also had a chocolate tasting at the end to experience some of the differently- flavored chocolates. Finally, we hiked down to a stunning waterfall once our chocolate tour ended. We didn’t stay long because my husband was a little under the weather. But in all, it was a fun time. Each person was amazing. The driver, Yiyi, went out of his way to pick us up, actually, since I think most hotel stops were in Limón proper. Nicole, our tour guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and getting what we wanted out of the experience. Luis, the shaman, was charming and wise. I really appreciated hearing the spiritual traditions that accompanied the chocolate-making process and would have loved to hear more.

A Day of Contracts in Costa Rica
🚤 **Canal Ride: A Mixed Bag:** Our canal ride was a blend of anticipation and disappointment. The vast waterway promised glimpses of wildlife, but reality fell short. The creatures—**elusive howler monkeys, sloths, caimans, and crocodiles**—remained hidden in the dense foliage. Our guide, armed with a laser pointer, strained to point out distant shapes perched high in the trees or lurking beneath the water's surface. It felt like a game of "spot the invisible." 🍍 **Fruit Stand Delight:** The second stop—a vibrant fruit stand— Here, we tasted tropical delights, including the **juiciest pineapple in Costa Rica**. Our guide, introduced us to the **Liberica Coffee bush, sugar cane, mango trees, and the enigmatic Cacao tree**. I 🌿Cahuita National Park: A Humid Odyssey:** Next up was the **Cahuita National Park**. The jungle trail included—a 2-kilometer trek through a secondary forest. The landscape was lush and mysterious. But the heat and humidity clung to us like a second skin. Wildlife sightings remained elusive, despite our best efforts. The hike felt endless, yet the promise of discovery kept us going. 🍌🍫 **Banana and Chocolate Plantation: A Fascinating Tale:** . We learned how they nurtured bananas—their history intertwined with Costa Rica's. The cacao trees whispered tales of ancient rituals and indulgent chocolate. It was a journey through time. ☀️ **Overall Verdict: A Hot and Humid Adventure:** Despite the weather's relentless embrace, this tour was a mosaic of experiences. The wildlife remained elusive, but the moments of discovery—the pineapple's sweetness, the jungle's secrets, and the banana's legacy—made it worthwhile. The heat wasn't the tour's fault; it was nature's fiery reminder that adventure comes with its challenges.

        Fish, monkeys sloths and fun!
We had an amazing time snorkeling and hiking in Cahuita National Park. Our tour guide Risheylin and driver Sirias picked us up on time from our hotel in a nice air-conditioned van. We stopped for Costa Rican coffee, souvenirs and a small tour to see banana plants, cocoa plants, coffee plants and many other native plants. We were very lucky and got an up close experience with a sloth our driver saw on the side of the road!! We spent over an hour snorkeling seeing the coral reefs, plenty of tropical fish, nurse sharks and sting rays and then our guide took us through the hiking trail and spotted lots of sloths, monkeys and a lizard for us. It is definitely worth the money to have a tour guide show you the animals because even when she was pointing right at the sloths it took us a while to finally see them. Overall it was an amazing day trip from Limon and we highly recommend :)

My parents and I did something pretty similar to this tour..but it was not the exact tour that is, as described on the website. Our family did experience being out on the narrow canal in Costa Rica. The same gentleman that did the tour guide on the tour bus, he continued his commentary in the passenger boat. The part of this tour that I admired and enjoyed the most was seeing the animals in their own habitat. What I didn’t like the most about the type of tour I experienced was spending a bit too much wasted time finding the animals. Now it’s one thing to see the animals and admire them, it’s another to stay in 1 spot for a good 20 minutes!! That bothered me/ got to me the most. Like what’s the point in being out on the canal if your just gonna float and allowing everyone on the boat to see the animals from a distance?! In the US, we have zoo’s…but obviously not in a country like CR. We spent a bit too much time really enjoying the animals that the captain of the boat zoomed the passengers back to the loading and unloading area. Like he went full throttle!! That I liked but didn’t like that our time was wasted…all due to seeing the animals and allowing everyone to see them. That bothered the most. I personally would not consider this tour in the near future to others. Doesn’t matter if someone is a first timer, a repeat customer or not. Would rather experienced tree top zip lines, a waterfall tour etc.

Were a few drawbacks as the van's air-conditioning was not up to the job and some stops not that interesting. But Risheylin our young guide did a great job and made up for any deficiencies (thus the 5 stars). She was very knowledgeable and did her best to accommodated everyone.

Arrived by ship. Met this company upon debarkation and agreed to join a shared tour touring Limon and then canals Tortuguera. US$40/per person for approx. 3hrs. Great value and quality compared to ship excursion for similar and $95/per person!

Evelyn was our guide. Bus was very clean and comfortable. Only 8 others with us. It was raining. Evelyn did a wonderful job sharing her knowledge and passion for her country. We stopped at a banana plantation and then a fruit shop to sample items and use bathrooms. It was a Sunday so shops were shuttered in town. Then off to the canal cruise which was very well done despite the heavy rain. The boat was clean, but everyone ended up getting wet due to open sides. We were all fine with it. The boat driver had an eagle eye and gave us a great tour despite.

This was a fantastic cruise excursion with our tour guide Enrique. He was very knowledgeable and wise beyond his years! The canal ride was incredible: cayman, sloths, howler monkeys, and numerous birds. Both Enrique and our driver went above and beyond to help with the wheelchair. The fruit stop was delicious - the best pineapple I have ever eaten.

We booked the excursion online and as promised, a SYL representative was waiting for us at the exit of the ship with a sign indicating our name. We were immediately taken care of by the representative and a guide was assigned to us, no waiting. We took a tour of the city and then an excursion on the canal, unfortunately we did not see much but the ride was pleasant. Our guide Kandry was very pleasant and very knowledgeable, his English was very understandable and he showed us more than expected. We recommend SYL for all excursions to Costa Rica, very professional and reliable tour operator.

We stopped in Limon for a stop on our cruise. After reading all the reviews I decided I had to book with Syltravel for our tour. We had Enrique and he was wonderful. We saw Limon, did the canal tour, (though it said 1hour we only got 30 mins), visited Playa Bonita, saw the banana farm and tried some amazing treats! I would recommend Syltravel to anyone who is looking for a day tour of Limon. Thank you to Enrique, you were a fabulous guide and we really enjoyed our day with you. The only disappointment would be that we didn't get the whole 1hr boat tour on the canal, though the couple doing the canal tour were super funny, kept us laughing!

When we arrived in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, aboard the Celebrity Reflection, it was raining heavily. Even though it was a cloudy, blustery and rainy day we still wanted to take an excursion to Tortuguero Canal and maybe Playa Bonita. We got off the ship and saw the SYL Travel tent with a Tripadvisor banner right on the waterfront. We inquired about a trip to Tortuguero Canal and Playa Bonita and the staff was very friendly , courteous and obliging to our group of nine Canadians. They told us about their excursions offered and the attractions of them. The SYL Travel consultants offered us a group tour to Tortuguero Canal, Playa Bonita and some Limon highlights for $35 per person. It sounded very reasonable to us so we were introduced to Manuel our guide who showed us to his van for this excursion. Manuel was very accomodating, courteous, professional and friendly. On the journey to the canal he explained a lot about the culture, geography, beauty, flora and fauna of his beautiful country of Costa Rica. He was very enthusiastic and committed to showing us his country as a guide who took his job seriously and spoke several languages. Manuel's avid love and knowledge of his country and enthusiasm with energy was contagious as he was humorous and fun-loving, He had Canadian friends and they called him on our trip and we toasted them and also his wife called so we welcomed her. Our guide was such a genuine, down to earth type of guy who we could relate to as he was very fluent in English. The trip to the Tortuguero Canal was awesome with the one hour and more boat ride where we saw Howler monkeys, Green Iguanas, Sloths, Basalisk lizards, and several exotic birds. The flora and vegetation along the rainforest was tropical, lush and green. The artwork stand had nice souvenirs to buy at reasonable prices. Our stop at Playa Bonita was very enjoyable where we watched the heavy surf thundering onto the hard packed sandy beach with palms and lush vegetation on the right. The beer was cold at Reina's beach bar and the food looked inviting. The rustic, tropical beach is not too commercialized and mainly caters to locals as it wasn't busy at all on this Sunday. Thanks SYL Travel and we highly recommend you and your guides for an excursion from the docks of Costa Rica in Puerto Limon.
