- Virginia M00Fun!Jimmy, our guide, made it so fun! Amazing views, highly recommend. Got amazing views of the beach and got to do some snorkeling too
- Virginia M00Fun!The staff was so friendly! It was so much fun, you definitely get your money's worth. Miguel G. And Douglas were awesome guides and very knowledgeable about the land and culture. Very fun and safe ! The meal provided tasted like it was from a 5 star restaurant. GREAT experience!
- arlenek74500Great Adventure! Very communicative and formalIf you want to do something fun in Tamarindo go ahead and contact Xplore!! Since the beginning Oliver provided us great recommendations about what to do in Tamarindo area. We were not looking for something crazy as we are seniors so he recommend us the ATV tour in Conchal and Brasilita. The guide was great and very pacient with us. If you are looking for a reliable and serious company... just Xplore
- steveh73100Fun excursion with plenty to seeEugene (I believe that was his name) was a fantastic guide. Very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. We saw plenty of Crocs, birds, and monkeys. The lunch stop was great too!
- Karen D00Fun and exciting trip into the wild !This was a trip into the wild in beautiful Costa Rica where we did see the monkeys and crocodiles but also birds! The trip was made so much more enjoyable because of our host and tour guide Eugene. Eugene took such good care of us and went above and beyond to keep us comfortable and happy . The highlight was the wonderful authentic Costa Rican lunch served to us at a very special restaurant with very kind and special people. I would recommend this trip if you are in Costa Rica !!
- S6531OMkellyh00Good tourexcellent tour. Had a lot of fun with other guests (6) and driver and guide. SUV was kinda tight with 8 people. All guides spoke good English plus they gave us a snack half way thru.
- U2271AGlaurieb00Great tour, Incredible service!I can't say enough good things about Denise and Eugene. They went above and beyond to customize a trip to accommodate my husband's recent illness and our schedule. Excellent communication. Waterfall tour was amazing. Eugene was so kind and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended Xplore Costa Rica! Thank you Denise and Eugene!
- KKB2300Private Boat SnorkelingWe did a private snorkeling trip for our family of 4. The fish we saw in the 2 different snorkeling sites were amazing! Down sides - guides were average. Could have been more engaged. And getting to the snorkeling sites took much longer than we had hoped. Overall spent 2 hours getting to the 2 sites with 30 minutes each of snorkeling time.
- Melissa J00Great excursion! What a fun trip! We got to see lots of crocodiles, birds and iguanas and even a few monkeys. This company was great to work with us when we had a little hiccup in our plans. So glad we had this experience
- loganhickmanva00Experience of a lifetime! This was an experience of a lifetime. A thrill-seeking, edge of your seat adventure - one we will talk about for years to come. We had 12 people total, 3 boats of 3 with a guide for each of us. The guides did a great job of keeping us safe while also make it so fun and entertaining. Luis, the leader, was incredible! They allowed us to pause along the rafting to jump in a waterfall. In addition to the adventure, they provided great transportation to and from the activity as well as a homemade lunch served by our rafting guides. It was an experience we will never forget. Could not recommend this more!
- 98grahamr00OutstandingDenise and her team, especially Ernesto make our travels seamless and most enjoyable. Very nice vehicles and extra services are easily arranged. A pleasure to work with.
- Dennis C00Villa Morabeza stayall of the trips were great. could have used a bigger van for the trip with 9 people airport driver was excellent very helpful
- johnsO902PM00Best Trip, Jayson is the best guide!Awesome trip super fun and safe, if you go you need Jayson as a guide, he was awesome and showed us the best time you could ask for!
- Iainb415100Fishing charterBooked fishing charter through this company. Everything was seedless and easy including shuttle pick up and boat. Great day of fishing and really easy
- charlesmA9864MT00Shuttles from here to ThereWe booked a shared shuttle to San Jose with Xplore and everything was smooth and very confortable. We were looking for options and they had good prices and you can pay online which makes everything easier when its raining in the town. 100% recomended

After we spent nearly 40 minutes on the wrong catamaran due to direction of travel agency contact we finally got on the right boat and underway. It was a windy day but we having a nice time with the friendly crew and other guests.
We anchored in the bay and a bunch of us headed into the water. I was out a few yards from the boat and my wife was close to the hull when unexpectedly a wind came up and the sail unraveled which resulted in the boat starting to move
fast....my wife fell off her float trying to desperately get to ladder and was almost hit by the fast moving hull. We finally did get into the boat with my wife receiving some scratches on both legs. I wondered if I could of reached her in time had she been hit
by the hull.
What bothered me more than the near accident was the crew’s reaction or lack of reaction to what nearly happened to my wife. You would think someone would what have asked a nearly 70 year old woman how she doing? The captain was more interested in teaching his little girl friend how to dive off the boat.
I had to ask if there was a first aid kit so we could tend to my wife’s scratches.
I wonder if they would of been capable of handling a serious injury?
I don’t know enough about sailing to comment about what happened with
the sail but some overall safety training is definitely needed.
After we got underway heading back did the Captain finally came over
and apologize to my wife which at least he acknowledged his responsibility.
Too little too late.
I hate to ask for my money back during a pandemic as I know how
Costa Rica tourist industry has suffered.....but something needs to
reassessed in the operation and safety of the Catamaran SEA SHELL

Jan, Thank you for taking the time to express your concern. I'm sorry your wife sustained some scratches.
During the 'play time' in the water the boat is anchored and the sail is not raised. The hull is stationery and does not move. I'm sure the boat had some movement as a result of the wind yesterday. Everyone (crew and guests) need to be extra wary of water and wind conditions, especially on windy days. I do hope you and your wife enjoy the rest of your vacation in Costa Rica.

This was such a fun thing to do for our family. On the way out to Pirate's Cove, we saw 2 humpback whales. We were able to swim and snorkel safely in Pirate's Cove. The food was delicious and we all really enjoyed the music and dancing on the boat. The crew was really great. We ended with a spectacular sunset and even saw the green flash.

I booked a surprise private sunset catamaran cruise for my friend's birthday during our time in Tamarindo. Denise was wonderful to work with as we were booking the tour and answered all questions I had. The instructions were very easy to follow and we were able to meet up with our guides easily at the meeting location we were sent. Our two guides, Jon Luca and Maui were incredible. They were personable, attentive, funny, and knowledgeable. They really made our experience great. The boat was clean and beautiful and all of the snacks and drinks provided were perfect. We had the most amazing day on the water and my friend told me it was the best birthday she could have asked for. I would highly recommend Xplore Costa Rica for the sunset catamaran tour and would book again in a heartbeat.

Crew was very friendly and helpful. Problem was that the Trip Advisor reservation didn’t not give a boat name. When you get to the meeting point, no one knew our tour operator and all said you need to know the boat name as thee about 6 boats going at once. After 10 minutes we finally got to our boat, but this hassle is totally avoidable if someone would just list the boat name. The dinghy motor broke down on the way home, but the crew got us on another dinghy. Food and drink were good, but the music was a little too loud and mostly rap which gets old.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY. THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED. We booked a Catamaran tour that included Snorkeling, Kayaking and Paddle boarding. They took us to a spot where the water was almost black so couldn't snorkel, there was 1 paddleboard and 2 kayaks for 40 ppl. It was a huge party boat with 35 of the 40 people in their late teems or early 20s, and 6 people in their 40s/50s...including us. At one point there were sexual acts making it uncomfortable for many, poll dancing as well.
When I requested a partial refund, I was told by the owner, Debbie, that "if this was Judge Judy....I ate the steak"...meaning I went to the restaurant, had a bad experience, but still ate the main course. Well, after reflecting on what could have been the worse example I've heard ever, I rebelled back to say we were locked on the boat for 6 hours, had no other recourse, and 3 of the 4 things offered weren't possible. While a partial refund of $10 per person to use on another excursion was offered, we declined. We were very descriptive what we wanted when we booked the excursion, they knew our demographic (just by looking at us) yet proceeded to put us on an excursion that didn't meet our needs in any way. The brochure + promise clearly advertises paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling - how can 40 ppl do the 1st 2 with only 1 or 2, and they take us to an area for snorkeling where you can't see 6 inches in front of you.
Buyer beware I guess!

We booked our cruise over the internet from the US months prior to our vacation. It was a smooth process. Our guide met us on the beach exactly where the directions specified. The service on board was fantastic and friendly. We never went without a drink. The catamaran was really nice and well maintained. We had plenty of time to enjoy sailing, snorkeling, the beach and the sunset. I’d highly recommend this sunset cruise!

The crew was really awesome, this review is for the booking agents. They sold easily twice as many tickets as they should have. You couldn't get up and walk around the boat at all, we were crammed in shoulder-to-shoulder like sardines- at least 75 guests aside from the crew. I would gladly pay twice as much per ticket for half as crowded a boat. The bathrooms were overflowing with urine in the unflushed toilets. We had fun swimming but there definitely wasn't snorkeling equipment for everyone and there were maybe 2 paddle boards and canoes, a ton of floaty noodles and that was about it. I wanted more of a party boat for the 20-somethings in our group but they were just as grossed out by the overcrowding as we were. It was fun toward the end when people were drunk and dancing but it took a lot of vodka to soldier through this. One woman asked us why on earth there weren't more bad reviews, I said probably because the crew was so sweet. If you get sucked into this, tip your crew, and pick a different company next time.

Audrey, If the number of guests you say is true then yes, that is way too many for that boat. Xplore sells this boat as well as all of the others in Tamarindo. We are also not the only booking agent. There are travel agencies and tour operators etc. that are also booking the boat. When we inquire if they have space we expect them to adhere to their legal space limit. It's impossible for us to know how many more they are allowing after we have booked. So in short, your complaint is not with the booking agents but the greedy boat owner who allows the over-booking.

Despite the very windy day, most guests had great time dancing and having drinks. Problem is wife and I are in 70s so music too loud and not into reggae. Drinks were fine, food plentiful and tasty.

Unfortunately nobody knows that age or personalities of the people signed up for the boat each day. It's unfortunate that you ended up with a really young crowd. Xplore or the boat owners cannot control participant ages. It's also unfortunate that you gave us 3 stars for something out of our control.

We had an awesome time on a great catamaran, sailed by a great crew and meticulously organized by Xplore (hands down the best tour company in Costa Rica). We booked our trip directly with the owner of Xplore, Denise, and were well taken care of. The scenery was ridiculously amazing, the boat was first class and the food/beverages were great. This is arguably a “must”/bucket list trip if you’re in Tamarindo or the surrounding area. Be sure to ask about their jungle waterfall tours with longtime driver/guide/all around amazing guy Eugene. Thanks so much for the unforgettable experience.

Had the most wonderful afternoon with the fantastic crew; Chute and Antonio. They couldn’t do enough to ensure that we and our fellow passengers had a great time. When they say unlimited bar they mean it 👍, food was great. Highly recommend them! Thank you Ana and Andrew.

Please pass this note on to the owner Xplore
This is Jan who wrote the review of our Catamaran Sunset Cruise yesterday. Apparently I didn’t make myself clear the sail unraveled on its own because it wasn’t tightly secured. Again your team requires additional training and safety protocols before somebody gets killed.
