Mojo Surf is the best! They helped make my dream of surfing come true. I’ve tried surfing before with limited success. Mojo Surf does it right with the type of board (classic 9’ longboard instead of 10’ foamie) and incredible instruction. JP is a fantastic teacher and had me up on my first wave. The location is perfect - not crowded and with outstanding waves. I loved how JP kept helping me improve my skills so that by the end of the 2 hours, I felt like a surfer. Joel got some great photos and had lots of good tips on how to improve when we took our break midway. Thank you, JP and Joel! It was a personal goal for me to surf well and you helped me achieve it.

Our family of six loved everything about our surf lessons with Mojo! We range in age from 54 to 16 and everyone loved it! The location was perfect and we especially enjoyed learning to surf without having to worry about dodging others. Communication with Tim prior to was easy and the true highlight was the interaction with and friendship with Johel and JP. They were so friendly and genuinely wanted to see us all succeed and worked hard to make it happen! Johel’s enthusiasm was contagious and we even invited him to join us for lunch after. He happily shared with us about his beautiful home and answered so many of our questions. We mentioned an interest in a fishing excursion and within a day he had several options for us. He not only stayed in touch during our week there, but met us at the boat the morning of our fishing trip just to make sure all was well. Johel thank you for making our week awesome even though we weren’t too great as fishermen! lol Highly recommend Mojo you won’t be disappointed!

My boys, ages 12 and 15 thoroughly enjoyed their time surfing with Tim and his employees. My boys have surfed a few times and are considered beginners and they were able to ride waves by the end of this lesson and did not want to leave! The lessons were given on a private beach that was beautiful with big waves to ride. Also, a nice touch was having M.J taking pictures so that these memories were captured and her banana bread was amazing! We will definitely return to Mojo Surf Adventures when we go back to Costa Rica!

Tim and crew were amazing! We went with 4 people of varying skill levels from never been surfing to having done a couple of lessons previously. JP was our instructor and he was so patient, motivating, and determined to get us all up on the board, which we all did. The beach was pristine and empty which let us focus on the surfing and we were able to see a very nice sunset as the lesson was wrapping up. I would go again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend them to anyone trying to go surfing.

I highly recommend Mojo Surf Adventures, we could not have had a better experience! Tim and all of his instructors were knowledgeable and friendly and got all of us up on waves almost instantly.... ages 5 to 53! From bringing us to the beach, giving us the basics, getting in the water with us and getting us on waves, they could not have provided better service The homemade banana bread and fresh pineapple might be the best I have ever had too!

Mojo Surf did a a fantastic job providing our family with such a fun experience. With 9 people from ages 4 to 61 every one was accommodated and every one surfed and had fun! It was our favorite day of the trip!

I have never written a review of anything in my life, but I absolutely had to give a top-notch review to Tim and his team at Mojo Surf Adventrues. My two kids (age 15 and 11) and I had the best time!!! Tim picked us up at our hotel (the W Reserva Conchal) and drove us to and from the lesson, which was so helpful and convenient. The beach was gorgeous, with no one on it except for our lesson (a group of maybe 10-12 of us split up over 4 different instructors). My kids and I had Joel as our teacher and he was incredible. He was very friendly and supportive with all of us and made us feel 100% safe in the water and with the waves. We all stood up multiple times! The whole experience - the staff, the location, the pineapple snacks, the photos, and the service - was first rate, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. It was my kids' favorite thing that we did over a week in Costa Rica. Thank you Mojo Surf!!

I didn't take any surfing lessons but i was on the beach watching this surfing school and I was so amazed at how the instructors and supporting team performed. The guests arrived and were immediately greeted thought was by Tim and MJ making them feel welcome. The instructors were preparing the boards at the same time Tim and MJ were offering them the rash guard shirts in preparation for the lesson. The dry land instruction was detailed and include important safety steps. There were adults and children included in the lesson and the staff were focused on making sure the kids were involved and excited to enter the water. Once in the water the instructors led by head instructor Johel took the time to make sure the parents and kids were prepared to hop on the boards and get there first run in. The surf was at a perfect height and the timing of the tide coming in help the guests get up on the board without being overwhelmed by too big of the waves. Tim assisted the instructors getting the kids out at the same time MJ was taking professional photos of the experience for the guests to keep as memories. There was one young boy maybe only 6 years old who tried many time to get up on the board but just did not have the balance to stay up. Johel took command and hopped on the board with him and made sure he was up and rode the surf to the end. The parents and kids were overjoyed that the boy had a successful surf. I later found out that the goal of the school is that everybody gets up and rides a successful surf which I thought was a reflection on how dedicated the instructors are to the success of the lesson. During a break in the lesson MJ prepared a pineapple and homemade banana bread snack for the guests. At the end of the lesson every one were happy with their experience and thanked the team for such a great day. During these times you don't see a lot of pure dedication and effort to make customers happy and satisfied. Tim, MJ, and Johel did just that tenfold and impressed me on how well the school was run. If you are ever in CR don't pass this chance to take a lesson. You will never regret choosing them and will have great long lasting memories. Pura Vida

First time surf lessons for the kids on a recent family vacation. Excellent instruction and all kids learned the basics, were able to stand up and surf pretty early in the lesson so they had plenty of time to learn and enjoy. Truly a great way to spend several hours on a secluded beach in Playa Grande. We took photos and Mojo Surf took photos also to save the memories. The lesson break of banana bread and pineapple were a great touch and the surfers (and the parents) really appreciated! We’ll definitely go back to Mojo if and when we go back to Costa Rica!

Had a great time with Tim and his crew. Kids loved talking to the guides about surfing and the area. Everyone had a smile all day. Definitely sore after the day but everyone wished we could go another day and push our limits a little more.

Amazing surfing experience in playa grande. We had the beach to ourselves which allowed for an incredible view + super safe experience. The instructors ajusted their classes based on each of our experiences which allowed for everyone to have fun. We had a break mid-surf with complementery fresh pineapple, homemade banana bread (to die for!!) and of course fresh water, just what we needed for a little boost of energy. Highly recommend this experience and the pictures you can get (for a small fee) really add to the memories!

Where do I start..Tim, owner of MoJo Surf, not only provided an awesome surf experience but was also super helpful and full of suggestions for our first trip to Costa Rica/Playa Grande. We ended up taking two lessons because the kids loved it so much. We had the whole beach to ourselves expect for a few others taking lessons. We had our three kids in one group together with one of Tim's very experienced surf instructors. Both instructors we had (JP and William) were great. The kids got up multiple times and we felt very safe. They took a break halfway through the 2 hour lesson for some of the best pineapple I've ever had and Tim's homemade banana bread. The second lesson we even got the adults up on the boards (no extra charge). Thanks for the unforgettable surf adventure MoJo Surf!

Mojo surf adventures is a must-do in Playa Grande for any level or age, Mojo is A++++! Our kids and the adults had so much fun and learned new skills, the instructors were amazing 🤩! Tim coordinated the tide times perfectly for their level, always had ice cold water, homemade delicious banana bread and fruit during break. His photos are beautiful, he caught every moment on camera! I highly recommend for any level! Some of our best times of our trip were on that beach with Mojo! Thank you and we will be back for more!

Tim and his team were great! They worked so well with our young kids and were supportive. Snacks were great as well and very refreshing!

Tim and his team somehow got all 5 of us up (ranging in ages 8-66). It was such an incredible afternoon and such a great way to get us all out of our comfort zones. Our instructors were incredibly kind and patient with all of us. Tim had cold water, fresh pineapple, and banana bread waiting when we needed a break. He also helped us plan a few other aspects of our trip that were phenomenal.
