- Arranger201100A PERFECT WAY TO END OUR 2 WEEK TRIP TO COSTA RICAThe food was wonderful and the view incredible. Everyone was super friendly. We even got a tour of the hacienda and plan to come and stay there in the future.
- 155janeenl00I must do experienceWhat a great experience, would highly recommend. Everyone was super friendly horses were very well mannered. We took the horses to the waterfalls and through coffee fields. We got to sample the coffee, it was unbelievable
- cloudbird900Great experienceWhat a lovely day~! The coffee farm is amazing..the horses were sweet...the waterfall was fantastic and cooling to be near...and the guides were super kind and well informed, about the history of the farm, how coffee is grown, and some of the history of the Indigenous people from the Aquiares area. Am still enjoying the coffee I bought at the store. Very worthwhile.
- ChrisR361600Excellent Coffee Tour, with Wonderful PeopleWe had SUCH a good time on this tour - it was educational, fun, perfectly paced, and a terrific value. Our guide, Guillermo, was amazing - friendly, informative, engaging, and terrific in explanations. This was a long day - 7 hours - and we never felt rushed or bored. Luis, the driver, was also friendly and provided a great insight into the day-to-day routines on a coffee farm; for breakfast and lunch, Katherin, was so attentive and she provided a workshop on how to prepare coffee that was really interesting. This is such a professional and well-organized tour, and we genuinely enjoyed meeting and getting to know everyone we met.
- basicnorwegian00Commercial Standards with a Family Business FeelWhat an incredible experience. Aquiares is a coffee farm, yes. But it is also a community and standard in the coffee industry. My friend and I were the only ones on our full day tour with William and learned this first hand. How cool to be able to pick coffee cherries in the morning and see where they end up in the afternoon. As a coffee enthusiast this tour did not disappoint. I asked all of the questions, which William answered very well. Although, I could also see this tour being amazing for people that just like coffee and don't understand the process well. Highly recommend to those looking for a well rounded view of the coffee industry at origin. This place has commercial standards with a family business feel. (Bring a hat or sunscreen for the coffee picking portion)
- Rosa -Kate S00Fabulous tour with knowledgable guideThis tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Being avid coffee drinkers we were keen to understand more about what goes into our favourite drink. We really enjoyed being shown around the coffee farm and waterfall. Willman, our guide was very informative and answered all our many questions with a smile. He also pointed out lots of wildlife along the way. We felt safe on the horses and had a memorable experience.
- Jason C00Coffee, views, and a horse ride! What more could you ask forWhat a unique way to view the beautiful grounds! You immediately are greeted by your increíble guide and enjoy an excellent coffee while exploring the charming house. The horses are extremely friendly and calm so any level of rider should feel comfortable. The tour includes a nice easy walk around the land and a quick trip down to view the waterfall/river. My partner and I found it the perfect level of informative and relaxing as you learned the history of the coffee plantation and surrounding community. Ending with an ice cold glass of flavored water, cool towel, fresh fruit, cake, and endless coffee (I had 3 cups!) was the cherry on top. Our guide and the whole team that helped along the tour were incredibly friendly and made this a tour I would absolutely recommend. Bonus tip: if you want a great lunch in the area ask the guide he gave a fantastic recommendation for a spot 15min away with some of the best food and views I had my entire trip in CR. Thanks for everything!
- 204DavidK00Much more than beans and beverageCoffee's medicine for me, I need a jolt to start the clock. So, I had a lot to learn, and experience. We started the day with the home-grown, home brew, at Casa Hacienda (reviewed elsewhere), and the morning birds. Then to the well-established fields, which are fascinating, starting with the plants -- height matters -- temperatures matter -- surrounding trees (which themselves are gorgeous) matter -- what's to be done with climate change? That's where experimental fields come in, explained (in flawless English, which mattered to me) by Wilman, our well-informed guide on the natural history, and community of Aquiares. We got to pick raw berries, to experience the start of their journey to and through the working coffee factory that takes the raw berries to selected and processed burlap bags. Aficionados no doubt will appreciate much more about the flavors and drying and roasting, but even I could tell, taste matters. We brought home the best!
- dakota b00A delightful experience in Costa Rica's largest coffee farm!We truly enjoyed all aspects of the tour. The horses, Lucero and Bellota, were well-trained and guided by a very professional man named Christian, and our tour guide Randall was excellent and very friendly. The owners were extremely hospitable and knowledgable about the operations. Wilman's tour of the beneficio was thorough and informative, and we really enjoyed the coffee samples and the snacks provided alongside them. The hike down to the waterfall was steep but brief, and we even got to hear a little bit from Randall about how the riverbed itself is being affected by climate change, which gave us a new insight into the area. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about the coffee production process in Costa Rica (although the views alone are worth it!).
- V4263GNdavidl00Quaint, relaxing and breathtaking! This was a great tour of the Aquiares Coffee farm. Our guides were amazing and the sights were breathtaking. After your time out on the horses you’re greeted with a nice refreshing local drink, coffee, fruits and baked goods. If you’re staying in San Jose it can be a little hike out but it is well worth the commute!
- KIMels00Highly recommended! What a fantastic tour! Well organised, friendly and professional staff, a lot of information during the riding, beautiful views,.. They really take care of their horses. The snack after the riding was amazing: a huge plate of different fruits (each!), banana pancakes, smoothie and of course delicious coffee. The hacienda made it even better.
- Dustin S00Coffee+Horses=HeavenEveryone was so fantastic! So knowledgeable and the property was gorgeous! The horses were so great and easy for beginners as well! You must go!
- fafel727200Pura Vida in TurrialbaGreat, leisurely horseback ride through the coffee plantation. The guides were attentive and knowledgeable. It's a wonderful experience and don't forget to buy the coffee. It is superb.
- raqym202100First Class Tour. Highly recommendedThe private tour was amazingly amazing! Highly recommended! Great tour guide. First class all the way. Great accommodation and fresh food on the table 👌⭐⭐⭐
- anastasialara19000Can’t wait to go back!Everything was amazing! Upon arrival we were received with yummy fruit cocktails and a cold towel for our hands. The food was definitely made with love, and the service was very attentive. Every person was super sweet and made sure we had the best the experience possible. Can’t wait to go back!

We arrived 2 hours early at the building of Aquiares and our guide invited us to come with him to the Aquiares Hacienda for the time in between. There we could rest from our journey at this beautiful place and were served fresh coffee which they didn’t want us to pay for.
Our tour was brilliant: coincidentally it was just the two of us for the tour at 2pm. So to say we had a private tour. It was very interesting and informative and entertaining and authentic. Our guide was very likeable and took all the time we needed for the questions so that in the end we were there for nearly 3 hours instead of the 2 it usually takes. Something that might distinguish the tour at the Aquiares facility is that they both have automated processes for the fully washed beans they produce but they also produce small batches of specialty coffee where they ferment the beans or take them through specific handmade processes. So one can see the whole bandwith of coffee production and all steps in the process.
All in all it was a great experience and probably the best tour we had so far in our stay.
I can totally recommend it.

Excellent tour (and tour guide Nicole). Very informative and full of fascinating details about the history of coffee and culture surrounding it. We also had excellent weather, so it made everything that bit nicer.
On the down side, some extra safety features could be added to the steps and railings going up to the Mirador, as my father slipped and fell down. This was more circumstantial, but still a point to make everything extra safe. Five out of five however!

We had a great experience with Wilmer who was very friendly and informative about coffee, from seed to the cup. He spent extra time with us so we fully understood the whole process. Aquiares is a special community that revolves around coffee production and a must-see if you are in the area.

They are passionate about their craft and are excited to share the coffee experience with others. We learned a lot and enjoyed our time during the tour, it went almost 3 hours. We started with seeing the plants and plantation and then saw the entire process from unloading the raw berries to packing the dried beans. Definitely worth it.

This was an authentic experience in the coffee plantations and Wilman was excellent. He was detailed oriented and aware the machines were loud so he had a mic.
