FOR ADRENALINE JUNKIES! If you're looking for an adrenaline rush that beats skydiving or white-water rafting, this canyoning experience is it! Coming right off the shoulders of the rainy season, the waterfalls were absolutely roaring with water—making it an unforgettable and heart-pounding adventure. I’ve done canyoning in La Fortuna before, and let me tell you: it doesn’t even come close to this. This tour was on a whole different level—more challenging, more technical, and way more thrilling. That said, I felt completely safe the entire time. The two guides, though young, were clearly experienced, professional, and had such great energy. They kept us laughing and feeling at ease, even while my heart was racing a mile a minute. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour, which allowed us to move through at a quicker pace. The guides were attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly—even when I got my foot caught in a crevasse (don’t worry, they pulled me out like pros!). The waterfalls themselves were nothing short of spectacular. One rappel had a 90-foot drop right after a zip line, surrounded by lush jungle—it was like stepping into a scene from an adventure movie. Every moment was exhilarating and beautiful. I can see how this tour might be intimidating for some, but they’ve got you covered. There are emergency exits at each waterfall if you decide to opt out. But if you’re up for the challenge, this is an experience you’ll never forget. I loved every second of it and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this—it’s a bucket-list experience!

Was not as expected - its open air and it was just the two of us. I thought the space was somewhat unsanitary with only a small sink and no hot water. Our instructor was great - we learned a lot about the local customs. We loved our food as well. While we were eating they pulled up a van and started to clean it right next to where we were eating - not a very nice ambiance. The driver to and from was a bit rough and I was a bit nervous on the drive. We ere supposed to receive the recipes but never did.

First time rafting in my life - the guides (Guías, Jefry, Miguel, Felix, Randall) gave very simple & clear instructions; they had a great sense of humor and ensured we all had a good time. We felt safe despite doing this for the first time. The water was not too rough but not too calm either- we had the perfect level of adventure. We got to see a sloth, some reptiles and birds along the way. I would love to do it over again. They took many awesome photos for us at a reasonable price which was great as all of us were soaked and didn't have time in the rapids to take pics. They also had clean facilities for us to change into dry clothes after. One of my favorite memories in Costa Rica!

The activity was interesting, however we were not given the videos of the activity even after we paid the extra charge for the photos and videos.

If you are considering this but unsure, you should definitely buy the ticket and take the ride! This was a blast. All our guides – in this case, Kendall, Michael, and Arturo – were safe, supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic. Do not be scared off by the rappelling. It doesn’t necessarily come naturally, but it is all safe, you get the basic hang of it quickly, and the guides watch out for you. You also get to hike in the stream through the canyon and jump completely in the water in a small natural plunge pool, all surrounded by the beauty of nature and the rainforest. Definitely wear water shoes or hiking shoes if you have them. And bring a change of dry clothes for after your adventure. The lunch place they take you to afterwards is also nice, and good food. Pura vida!

We almost canceled because of the heavy rain, but so glad we didn’t. Desafio is very professional with qualified guides and well cared for equipment. It was fun and even thrilling in places with some raised river levels from rain. There is a safety kayaker in front, advising our lead on conditions so there were no concerns. Loads of action, water sprays, manageable maneuvers across the II, III rapids. The lunch after was great. Highly recommended.

The white water rafting was awesome! I was very nervous and the tour operator made me feel so safe. They are a class act that makes the ride enjoyable and safe. I have been on other white water rafting trips. This one was by far the best!

What a fun and wild ride! This was such an exceptional experience from the start to finish. It was the first time I had ever been canyoning, and I probably wouldn't have done it, but my partner loves adventure activities, so he encouraged me to do it. I was quite anxious during the first canyon/rappel. Once I overcame my initial fear, it was nothing but smiles. The guides were calm, patient, kind and reassuring, which really helped to ease my anxiety. The whole team were professional, warm, fun, and they all had positive energy. I could not recommend Desafio Adventure Company enough for a truly wonderful and fun canyoning experience. Thank you for such a wonderful morning. Pura Vida!

This was a huge highlight of our trip. A night of local cooking, with adult beverages, and salsa dance lessons. It was so fun and great to meet other fellow travelers that quickly enjoyed an evening together. Thank you, Jenny, for making this night a wonderful cultural experience. We enjoyed it and highly recommend this for an evening that is memorable.

The guys at Desafio were absolutely great! A big Thank you to our transfer guide/Costa Rican historian Rollo and our raft guide, "Fluffy!" From the minute Rollo picked us up at our hotel til the time he dropped us off, he was amazing. So full of unique facts about Costa Rica. Our rafting guide, Fluffy was also just as amazing. Not only did he keep us all in the boat the entire time down the river but his jokes and easy manner was a perfect fit for my family's needs. Not to mention the delicious Farm to Table lunch after the tour was delicious! Thank you again to all of the guides at Desafio for making it a great experience for us! Pura Vida Fellas!

Fantastic. Exciting. Great guides. Fun for all kids and teens as well as adults. you will get soaked. There are four rappels along with the canyoneering through the stream., pools and waterfalls. Guides were great and knowledgeable. Rafting was great as well Multiple class 3 rapids along with some class 2. Highlight of the 11 day trip for most of the kids and adults alike. Unforgettable experience. Plus the snack on the river and lunch after to top it off. Must do in the Arenal / La Fortuna area.

The cost of the 2-hour drive and lunch exceeds the value of the canyoning experience. The forest walk isn't particularly engaging, and the canyoning itself includes just one abseil, a short walk through the canyon, and four jumps (4m, 2m, 3m, and 9m). Overall, it doesn't feel worth the price.

Such an exciting experience! Our guide made sure we felt safe throughout the entire rafting trip, even with the splashes and rapids. Highly recommend!!

From start to finish this tour was very professional, safe and incredibly fun! Be prepared to get wet and enjoy... My wife and I had an amazing time!!
