- H5828GFjenniferl0 contributionsStop here- delicious and fun! This is a must stop tour! Cesar was amazing at accommodating our family of 8 for a tour. The tour was very engaging and educational for both kids and adults. Cesar’s energy, knowledge, and friendliness made for a great tour. The chocolate and coffee were outstanding. Probably some of the most delicious chocolate I’ve had. The kids were entertained and engaged the entire time. So much fun and delicious! Definitely a high point of our travels in La Fortuna.Written June 21, 2024
- Drucilla S0 contributionsTake this chocolate tour (and get lunch here too)This was exactly what I was hoping for in a chocolate tour. We got to walk around the farm and see how cacao is grown, as well as seeing the actual pods on the trees! We saw a variety of edible, ornamental, and medical plants, and got to try raw cacao seeds and herbs directly from the plants. We had the opportunity to grind fermented and roasted beans to create the basis for "The drink of the gods" and we had the chance to pick toppings to put into a chocolate bonbon. (Red pepper and salt, and red pepper and coconut were both EXCELLENT) After the tour we had lunch in the cafeterĂa there and it was so delicious. Some of the best food we've had here. The whole experience was a dream and I'm so glad we went.Written May 6, 2024
- kinsleygrenier0 contributionsA MUSTWe had such an AMAZING day here. We started with the chocolate tour followed by the cooking class and it was all outstanding. Well worth the time and money. The tour was so informative and the cooking so much fun. We made tortillas and empanadas and they were so good. A must do when in the area. If you have the time, do them both.Written April 7, 2024
- LeRouleur0 contributionsThe sweet taste of success, bar none!Your reviewer is very sceptical re tours like this, and very early on he felt all his fears were about to come true but then........ talk about 'zero to hero' the next 2 hours or so were brilliant!! Our guide for the afternoon was Cesar, really good and often bringing out his inner 'gameshow host'. The whole process from tree to bar was thoroughly enjoyable, highlights being preparing and grinding the beans, using a bike and an old style mincing machine (see the photo to the left) to turn them into a powder. I loved Cesar and his drum, and the chocolate song during some of the preparation, superb. I never knew they added so much sugar, but it's really bitter if they do not. Adding salt, chilli, coconut, cinnamon, amongst other to see what it tasted like. Finally making a batch to take away, (eat quick once they take it out of the freezer, or it will melt rather quickly!!) and a few extra's for our Tour Guides (I think they got the Chilli ones!) I you do one Chocolate tour, when you visit Arenal/La Fortuna, do this one. What an afternoon. Highly Recommended.Written April 4, 2024
- jamtl1230 contributionsStraight up fun! This is a two hour tour, and it flew by! It was a really fun tour... educational, yet my teen daughters loved it, so you know it's good! Ceasar was a great tour guide! And it's tasty to boot!Written December 29, 2023
- paulinecP1878PH0 contributionsA sweet escape!!We had a private 1-1 tour with our guide, Caesar of the farm that includes coffee history and making our own chocolate!! We bought home delicious chocolate bon bons, and drank the rich and smooth coffee. Also shout-out to Rosa , one of the staff in the farm for her amazing local recommendations! I highly recommend going on this tour! Was the best experience of learning and making coffee and chocolate. Also the directions was a bit confusing..turns out we had to go further down rute 4, make sure you download the map of waze !Written December 18, 2023
- Kara C0 contributions10/10 highly recommend!!!Wow we loved this!! My boyfriend and I had so much fun. We picked a cacao fruit, tried it, learned about it and continued to the dried cacao. Again trying and making things with it. We did a cacao ceremony and made bon bons (chocolates). We ate more than enough chocolate, danced, sang and laughed so much. We got to take the chocolates home too. It was one of our favorite activities we have ever done. Highly recommend!!! You can eat as much or as little as you want and our allergies (peanut and dairy) were not an issue. Staff was so fun and kind.Written November 13, 2023

- R J0 contributionsAmazing, delicious, and entertaining!I visited with my 3 teens and wow! What a fabulous experience! Caesar was an amazing host, very knowledgeable and entertaining! The entire experience was interactive - our whole family participated in the grinding of coffee and preparing of chocolate bonbons to our liking. We had many opportunities to taste and to dance along! The grounds are breathtaking - right alongside the river and much flora. Don’t skip out on this opportunity - worth it!Written June 23, 2023

We did this tour on our way to la fortuna. Cesar led the tour (ably assisted by his 8yo granddaughter!) and we had a fascinating overview of their property, tge different cacao trees they grow, the process for making chocolate, we even got to make some chocolates of our own (amazing - with a choice of ingredients Inc cinnamon, coconut, chilli, honey, salt etc). Cesar was great fun, we all sung and danced as we participated in ginding the beans etc and we even had a couple of traditionally costa Rican toasts with the local moonshine! Good gift shop also. Stri gly recommended, thanks Cesar (and Maripas)

We had such a great time during our tour with Cesar. Our teenagers (18 and 16) enjoyed it much more than they thought she would. The chocolate making was a favorite for all of us. High energy and lots of great information. Highly recommend!

This tour was not high on my list of things to do while in La Fortuna. I'm a chocoholic and thought I had a decent enough understanding of how it's made, but our friends wanted to go, so my husband and I joined them. I'm happy we did! Our guide walked us through the plantation and explained the entire process, including the challenges in growing and harvesting the cacao. We tasted different variations of chocolate and made some of our own. There was an entertaining little challenge involved with a few who wanted to participate, which made for some good laughs. It was fun and educational in the perfect amount of time. My only suggestion is to wear bug repellent. Our guide suggested it as we started the tour, but we hadn't brought any with us and none was provided. There is only one area on the tour where you'll need it. The mosquitoes weren't too bad, unless you're the type that attracts them...like my husband, who came away with a couple bites.

My Fiancé and I had the pleasure of having a private tour with Cesar (Shoutout Nelson!). They had a vast knowledge and genuine love of the property, Costa Rican culture and of course chocolate. We walked around the farm for about an hour and a half and were able to sample a variety of plants and fruits along the way. At the end of the tour we made our own chocolate bonbons from start to finish. We were able to sample and make several different flavored chocolate bites and were able to take the bonbons we made home. As we ground our cocoa nibs the old fashioned way we danced while Cesar played his drum and sang for us!! This was so educational, fun and a memory that we will never forget! Cannot recommend this tour enough!!! Best chocolate I have ever had.

We showed up for the 3pm tour time with no reservations and they let us join for the combination Coffee/Chocolate tour. Our guide was Cesar and he was so much fun. The farm portion of the tour was good, but the 2nd half was great. We got to try the coffee, make a small bag to go, learn chocolate history, create our own Bon Bons to take home and make a chocolate drink. All the grinding and mixing was interactive and Cesar made it so much fun with singing, dancing, drumming, and jokes. Highly recommended this tour for the area.

What a blast. The property is stunningly beautiful, and our guides Cesar and Yarixa were friendly and energetic. They did a wonderful job not only explaining the process of making chocolate, but also engaged the group to crack a cacao pod, grind chocolate, mix a chocolate drink, and make bonbons and choose your own flavors. I can’t express how much energy they brought - singing, dancing, laughing! We had so much fun!

We had a great and delicious time at Eden Organic Farm. We started with a walk through the cacao trees, and learned more about the cacao fruit itself. Then we visited the actual production area of the farm before getting to a covered area where we got to the hands on part of the tour. Everything was set up for us to taste chocolate (with lots of different toppings), make our own candies and make “the drink of the gods” from scratch. We learned more about the historical use of cacao in Mayan and Aztec cultures during this part, and our guide did a great job of keeping her energy up (with singing and chanting!). After the tasting part of the tour, we walked back to the office and bought some delicious souvenirs. It was a fun tour, and I’d recommend this one for anyone looking for a chocolate tour in the Arenal area.

This was a really cute and fun tour. We learned about the process of making chocolate and even got to make our own bon bons. You get to try the chocolate with a variety of difference toppings so you will leave with a big sugar rush. I recommend wearing closed toe shoes, having a rain jacket, and bringing insect repellant spray as the tour is on a little farm.

Our entire family had a great time on this highly interactive chocolate tour with Caesar. We saw actual cacao trees with seeds growing on the trunk, learned about the process to turn raw cacao seeds into chocolate and participated in making a chocolate drink, sampled chocolate with various add ins, made bon bons and sang and danced as well. The kids won’t stop singing bate bate chocolate!
This was a much better tour than another one we did that combined chocolate and coffee as they really took their time here. This was a great time!
I also recommend arriving early and getting coffee ahead of your tour.
