- ssuknasky0 contributionsWould totally do it again!I had a blast! The guide was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and funny. He even tried to tip our raft a few times(with the consent of the rest of the group of course). The dog(Piqui) that jumped from raft to raft was also very fun to have around!Written March 24, 2020
- sophiabuscaglia0 contributionsGreat White Water Rafting Experience!I had such a great time white water rafting with Dinghy Expeditions. Our guide was super friendly and fun while making sure we were safe throughout the experience. The river is beautiful and you get to see many different types of wildlife. We saw various types of birds, including herons and ospreys. At one point, a monkey sat perched in a tree above us. A truly exhilarating experience I will remember forever!Written February 28, 2020
- CharlesR13500 contributionsBest raft company in the regionHad a great day...the guides are the sweatest people out there...small warm company that takes care of their clientele. And the cherry on top there's a dog along for the ride:)Written February 21, 2020
- BridieJB0 contributionsSafari FloatClose friends of mine, all adults and one young child, took a safari float tour with Dinghy Expeditions while in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The Costa Rican jungle did not disappoint! The wildlife and natural scenery had us in complete amazement the entire time, even when the rains came. The tour started off being picked up by Andres and a driver who took us to the entrance to the penas blancas river. There we donned lifejackets and were provided with all the necessary safety information and procedures in both Spanish and English. Andres was very knowledgeable and a fun guide to explore the river with. He was happy to answer all of our questions and talk freely about everyday life in Costa Rica. He shared stories and encouraged us all to be completely present in nature while floating down the river. We were able to help paddle the raft and stopped often to explore and learn about various plants, trees, flowers and fauna along the way. We also stopped along the river’s edge to glaze at monkeys playing in the trees. Andres shared histories of Costa Rica and the river itself as we floated along. Overall, we were on the river for about 2 hours. We saw various birds, lizards, bats, monkeys and even a sloth. After the safari float we walked to a nearby family run farm to enjoy fresh coffee and juice along with homemade cheese, desserts and fried plantains. It was a fun, memorable tour while in La Fortuna. I would certainly recommend checking out the various tours offered by Dinghy Expeditions. A family owned company, creating lasting memories and sharing the joy of Pura Vida! Gracias Amigos!Written January 14, 2020
- rajeshm210 contributionsNot a good experience!!The hotel pick up was 1 hour late. The guide seemed to be a last minute replacement for their regular guide. He didnt know what was included in the tour. I've to show him what is included and what is not. Still he skipped a few of the included stops on the tour. I'm not satisfied with this company.Written January 3, 2020
- Yaeli B0 contributionsHighlight of our tripWe had an amazing experience using this family owned company. Everything was just perfect! I researched the mayor rafting companies and choose Dinghy because their great reviews, I called ahead of time and spoke with Andres who kindly answered all my doubts. They picked us on time at our hotel and drove to us the river. Meanwhile he explained what we were going to do and was very patient answering my daughters questions. We were all a little scared since this was our first time doing water rafting. When we got to the river Andres explained to us all the commands and safety measures, then we went on the boat and practice several times until we all felt safe. We were placed in our positions and my younger daughter (10) was just next to Andres, he was extremely cautious with her and made sure she was safe during the whole trip, which let me enjoy the experience. We got to see different companies while rafting and most of them use several boats at the same time and looked kind of unsafe. I was very pleased to use a company Like Dignhy that cares for their costumers and got the time to actually learn your name and give you the best treatment. This was for sure the best experience we could have ever asked for! Thank you Andres and Diana!!!Written December 27, 2019
- Sportymel0 contributionsAmazing day outI have done a lot of rafting and this was my favourite. The rapids we did weren't that big but the guides made the day super fun. And I felt super safe the whole time.Written December 26, 2019

The majority in Idaho on some good rivers but this by far was one of the best experiences I’ve had with some extremely passionate and experienced guides. - alexaria0 contributionsWe saw bats masquerading as snakes! We explored the Peñas Blancas River on this safari trip. Andres and Diana were excellent guides. It was raining on the day we went on the trip, but we still saw lots including Howler monkeys, long nosed Brazilian bats, many birds (Green kingfisher, Barn Swallows, Keel Toucan, Aninga, Tropical king bird,Buff rump warbler), and Squirrels. We saw many types of trees and plants such as Cedar, Gavilan, Yellow bamboo, Bread fruit and Carob, Bromiliads, Cacti epiphye, Spanish moss, Monkey ladder- bauhinia, Kapok tree, Sota caballo, Yucca, and Cuadrado (plantain). Andres is a fount of knowledge of the local flora and fauna and the local biodiversity. He described how the river has changed over the years due to climate changes or effects from illegal dumping etc. We heard interesting stories about the introduction of certain plants, for example the bamboo and how their introduction has affected the local environment. Andres even jumped into the river to Moore our boat so we could get a look at the Howler monkeys! He showed us bats that impersonate snakes! We then stopped at a wonderful family business where Andres showed us cocoa plants and we had a meal of fried plantains, fresh cheese, sweet yuka bread and fresh organic juice. We wandered around the local farm seeing horses, cattle, ducks, kittens and chickens. We were collected and dropped off as promised. They were able to advise us in the best place to eat and buy local crafts in the town. We would highly recommend Dinghy expeditions. 5 stars!Written November 20, 2019
- lyates20020 contributionsGo with this rafting company, a unique experience and activity! This was our first rafting experience and I am sooo glad we went with Dinghy Expeditions. We were picked up at our hotel on time by Andres and Piqui. We were not aware of Piqui, the rafting dog, but we were ok with this experience. This definitely was a first for us and made the entire day unique. Our group was small, which included another couple. This is our preference when we do activities and Andres was an excellent guide and instructor. On our way out to the river, we stopped at a local fruit stand where we were able to sample different fruits. Andres is very knowledgeable of the La Fortuna area and is great at informing visitors of many aspects of the area and the country. I, of course, had an absolute blast with rafting, I'm not sure if my husband could say the same, but after reviewing photos it looked like he enjoyed himself. This is definitely an activity to purchase photos for. Additionally, they are priced reasonably. On our way back into town, we stopped at a family owned Soda for lunch, which of course was delicious. If anybody is thinking about white water rafting go with Dinghy expeditions. This is a family run business and it is obvious that they love what they do and they love their country. Pura Vida!Written November 11, 2019
- Luana S0 contributionsamazing experience in the forestI went on the half-day tour with my mother. Despite of the little downpour, Andres was super passionate about his environment, country and everything else he showed us. Learned a lot about costarican fauna and the dip in the hot river came just right - what a magical place! Thanks for everything!Written November 6, 2019

This was our best family vacation ever. Major highlight of our CostaRica trip was water rafting on Sarapiqui River.
We were novice rafters and our group included my special needs child with Autism. Diana and Andres made this adventure very memorable. They were humble and very passionate hard working couple. They knew every corner, rocks and hurdles on the river which has made us felt safe. Piqui their dog is adorable.
We also did Arenal volcanic hike and hot springs with Diana which by the way equally wonderful.
I would recommend Dinghey expeditions with out any reservations.

White water rafting with Diana and Ahndres (and of course their dog Piqui!) was awesome! I was in a raft with Diana and she kept her eyes open for wildlife and told us stories about the region, river, and her life (which is pretty cool because she was on Costa Rica's professional water rafting team!). The river had nice areas of leisurely floating as well as exciting rapids to go through. They also stopped and let us do some other fun activities along the way like swim a jump into the river from a cliff (maybe 15 feet high).

Thank you for the review that you left us explaining a day rafting with one of the founders of Dinghy Expeditions - Diana. For us it is very important that the owners are on the tour with you. Not only will you get royal service this way but it give us a chance to be out on the river (the best office in the world) doing what we love so much. Piqui, our dog, is an added bonus and a great joy to be around. We are very happy that you liked your experience and we can´t wait to have you again!

Diana and Andreas run these best rafting company in Central America. They go over an above because they are not your generic tourist company trying to rush through your experience. They take the time to really ensure you have a once in a lifetime experience klin Costa Rica. There is simply no reason not to book them. They are definitely the most qualified and experienced people on the river and they do this job with their heart. They absolutely love it and it shows. The raft that they use is top of the line. Far better than the other tour operators (Olympic level standard. Their safety equipment including helmets and life vests are all brand new and top quality. We saw many other tourists looking in envy as they put on their half broken life vests and got into some very questionably old rafts. Big shout out to our safety kayaker as well. He represents Venezuela at a national level in kayaking so we were navigating the river like pros. Along the way Andreas does an amazing job pointing out all the wild life from birds to sloths to the actually going in to the jungle to find us the world's second most poisonous frog, it was exhilarating to be that close to it! The river itself is absolutely exciting. There are lots of great drops and strong rapids. I know it sounds like I'm writing a love letter but I am indeed sharing with you the honest truth. This was the highlight of our trip to La Fortuna. If you do get the chance to ever do this then consider yourself lucky and blessed. Dinghy tours is heading straight to the top and it's only a matter of time before they become recognised as the best and are fully booked months in advance. Good luck Diana and Andreas! My wife and I cannot wait to come back and have an adventure with you again! PURA VIDA!

Great experience. The activity was really enjoyable and we were able to catch some good waves. The company were very friendly from the get go and in particular Andreas was very helpful and gave us a good price. In addition, he then recommended other activities we do in the vicinity and was a pleasure to meet.

By far, the best white water rafting experience ever. Diana and Ahndres were super fun and helpful throughout the experience. The river was beautiful and we got to see a ton of wildlife too. It was a local experience that you can’t get at the large rafting companies. Would do any activity with them again in a heartbeat.

Thank you for sharing your day.
It is very nice to hear that you felt the local experience rafting with us. When we began this project, we consciously decided to keep our tours small so that we can give you the best trip you have ever had with us who love begin out in Nature. The rivers, mountains and coasts is where we prefer to be. We breath adventure and exploration. Everyday the rain forests and rivers show us something new. Costa Rica is a treasure to be discovered and seeing the country through it's waterways is a very unique and fun thing to do on your vacation. Thank you for rafting with us.

Our group had such an AMAZING time with this company!!! We were a group of 10 that was separated into two rafts accompanied by Diana, Andres, and their lovely dog Piqui. Not only did we raft down river but we did tricks such surfing in the water, stopped to swim in the rapids, and jumped a small cliff. We were also provided with some food during a break in the middle of the river. Highly highly recommend this company! All my worries prior to the raft went away from seeing Piqui so excited, as well as having such great tour guides. Can’t wait to come back! Pura Vida 🤙🏻

We appreciate you pointing out the extra mile that go to give you an unforgettable experience. Apart from the rafting itself, we also take our time to stop and let you live other experiences like swimming in a rapid, pushing your limit and jumping off a cliff, surfing, balancing on a raft and much more. We are on your time and we want you to love every minute we spend together on the river. Costa Rica is special place and rafting in Costa Rica is amazing for the quality of rapid, the beauty of the rain forest, abundance of wildlife and warm water. We are truly blessed.

I did the full day white water rafting last week. The instructors/guides were incredible. They knew the waters so well and guided us through exactly what we had to do. I was really scared about white water rafting (and particularly falling off!), but they were a great support system through the process. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the local area. I'd highly recommend using Dinghy for your rafting excursion when you visit Costa Rica.

We had the best day ever with family-run Dinghy Expeditions on our last day in CR!
Diana and her husband Ahndres are actually real whitewater champions, this is no Mickey Mouse beer party outfit, Dinghy Expeditions are who you want to trip with if you want an authentic Costa Rican rafting experience. They gave us some solid training in safety and paddling techniques before we tackled the pristine Sarapiqui River, 17 kilometers, 3 ½ hours and thirty-three Class 2 and 3 rapids with stops for fresh fruit, swimming and optional cliff jumping. I don’t think any of us in the three rafts had any significant previous rafting experience – us, a couple of over-60s, and everyone else, fourteen young people traveling with Under 30 Experiences – yet although the river was technically challenging enough to be a real workout (“wiggle wiggle” when you get stuck on a rock!) with plenty of thrills and near-spills, under the guidance of Dinghy’s pro guides and led through the best channels by the safety kayaker / photographer we all had a really great time. It’s safe enough to bring your kids on, or even scruffy terriers... yay Piqui dog, an abandoned stray who jumped in the raft one day with Diana and Ahndres and has been rafting with them ever since. Piqui wears a little life jacket, with a handle on the top for the rare times he falls out of the boat and needs to be fished out, mostly while he’s happily jumping from one raft to another mid-stream, he was a real plus for us dog lovers. Also a real learning experience from passionate and smart guides about the environment, plants and wildlife (never buy non-organic pineapples), and afterwards we had the best wood fired slow cooked Casado (rice and beans, plantain and salad plate) with choice of protein (we had the amazing fresh-caught fish) at a rural local eating spot. And yes, THEN we had some cold beers to celebrate our fantastic day on the river :-)
Totally recommended, makes us want to return to Costa Rica again real soon just to see what’s up next with Dinghy Expeditions! So glad we happened to meet you in La Fortuna, Diana, see you again soon!

Of all the things I did in Costa Rica this was by far my favorite! The guides made sure everyone felt safe and was having fun at all times. We went on the river when the water level was pretty low so that meant we got caught on some rocks at times. We had one unfortunate moment when our raft flipped and our guide handled it with such professionalism and expertise that no one was hurt beyond a couple bumps and bruises. While the moment was scary, the way our guides and the rest of the team handled it I felt totally comfortable continuing on. The tour was a lot of fun and there were breaks to go swimming, eat some fresh fruit and jump of a ledge into the river. The entire day was great and I would highly highly recommend this company. They are really big on safety first. They also provided a lot of really cool information about Costa Rica during the slower parts of the tour which was cool, pointing out unique wild life and giving some history facts. The photographer that came with us was a huge plus, as well!

Thank you for your kind words.
It is incredible how often we hear that rafting with us was people's favorite activity during their visit in Costa Rica. We cannot explain how grateful we feel to leave you such a positive impression and great memory to go home with. Everything we do, we feel exited about and we do it with love. As you can see on the photos, everyone is happy and everyone is PURA VIDA!
