So many beautiful sloths spotted by our guide Jazmin
We loved this small group tour with Jazmin! She taught us so much about both species of sloth, helped us take great photos and had a cool, calm demeanor even though it was extremely hot weather. I highly recommend this experience if you want to see sloths in their natural environment - and ask for Jazmin. This was our second tour experience with her and we were so excited to see that she was our guide.

Best birding tour to start our trip
Jazmin was amazing! We saw 28 species of birds on our very first morning in Costa Rica. She was very knowledgeable and patient and it was truly one of our favorite tours while visiting La Fortuna.

        Ecoterra, has it ALL!
I booked with Ecoterra for both a Night tour with dinner and a La Fortuna combo 4 tour. Let me tell you the scoop if you did just these two things you’ll be set for your trip, of course there’s a ton of things to do in Costa Rica, but if you didn’t do these 2 tours you are missing out!! I love learning and I felt like a kid again Exploring the unknown the night tour was nothing g short or amazing! Plenty of wildlife to be seen I wish i remembered our tour guides name because, bravo 👏 super knowledgeable, and dinner was delicious it was the right way to start my vacation. Now the combo tour, we went to the hanging bridges, arenal falls, arenal volcano, and the Baldi hot springs. Was it a long day? Yes! Was it worth it? Most definitely!! Harvin was our guide and I’m soo glad he was, not sure if you can request, but if you could he will not disappoint, it was like he was a walking google for the rainforest. Lol every question he had an answer, as if he knew every little detail of the rainforest. Throughout the tour we saw sloths, 3 different types of snakes, all sorts of exotic insects, birds and lizards. Other than the amazing scenery, Harvin himself made the tour that much enjoyable, he was very personable, patient, knowledgeable and he just had a greatest attitude, he even got me to eat a termite! Smaller than a grain of rice but still haha great experience, a must try.

Fun, interesting, easy, exciting nature tour!
What a fun mini adventure! Joseph was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we saw so many interesting animals, plants and insects. The property, and the family who owns and hosts the experience was incredible, the food was amazing, and the tour benefits the environment with a very inspiring story. Thanks for a great night!

        Unbelievable Beauty
The hike through the park was beautiful. Our guide Daniella was outstanding describing everything about the park in great detail. The hike to the bottom of the Rio Celeste waterfall was a great experience and the walk back up was to a good workout, enough to make me grateful that I quit smoking years ago. The natural beauty of the park, including the colors of the river showed nature at its best. Even the restaurant where we dined after our hike was right on point. The food was delicious. Oh and Mario was a great driver.

        Volcano and the surroundings
A great visit to view the volcano but also to learn about the history of it as well as the regional flora and fauna. Our guide Joseth had great enthusiasm and knowledge giving great insights and answering all our questions. The fruit and drinks at the end capped off a great visit!

Get wet. Get dirty - awezome!
Aaron set a leasurely and safe pace through an amazing cave experience. Get dirty, crawl really low and learn about history and geology on this excursion . Bad knees, don't go. Claustrophobic? Maybe skip. Up for something different, this is for you.

Cave Hike - Amazing, what an experience!
The cave hike was amazing. We did not know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. Our Guide Gonzalez was very good! He took pictures of us at different points, on our phone. We had a rental car and didn’t need to be picked up. We thought we were booking directly thru the owners of the Venado Caves but no. You can save money by booking directly thru them.

        Awesome experience
Awesome tour of the Venado Caves. We had a blast. Our guide was friendly & knowledgeable. He took photos for us during the excursion. We felt 100 safe. You do get down and dirty. There are some tight spaces, but you can opt out. Showers are provided at the end, along w/delicious snack. Bring water shoes & change of clothes. Transportation picked us up right at our Airbnb in Fortuna. Had an awesome time. Highly recommend!

Fascinating walk, so much to see
Our walk was great, and so much depends on the guide. Ours was stunningly well-informed and a great communicator, so we learned loads on the short and clear but steepish path up to volcano lookout point overlooking the 1968 lava flow. And then on the longer but gentler descent we were helped to spot a huge variety of birds, small animals and a couple of monkeys in the distance. Really impressive to spot and identify wildlife so quickly and accurately, be able to point it out (& take quality close-up photos via his spotter scope). An eye-opening introduction to Costa Rican forest wildlife: thank you much:)

        Best experience in LaFortuna
Our guide, Pepè, was above and beyond. He stopped on the way to the waterfall to show us several sloths in the trees. During the ride and the hike he was entertaining and informative. We took great care to ensure all in our family were safe and having a great time. He was also a skilled photographer and captured so many great memories while we were swimming. Our whole family loved him. This was the last tour we booked while in LaFortuna and our favorite one. Highly recommend. Pepè deserves a promotion. Skip the sloth farm and book a tour with Pepè.

        Fantastic Day
This tour was the highlight of the whole, amazing vacation! We learned so much, and had a wonderful time. Jimmy taught us about all the native plants, and their past/present use. He was kind, informative, and patient when I couldn’t shoot the arrow correctly. 😂 The family provided a delicious meal, even making it vegan, especially for us. The fried Yuca was legendary! I highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed!

        Great night tour
We went 40 min from la Fortuna to a small family property. The guide was very knowledgeable and we were able to see many jungle creatures. Afterward we had an excellent authentic Costa Rican meal prepared by the family. We had kids age 5-14 and they loved the experience and the food!

Daniela was terrific while leading us on a moderately strenuous hike to the Hule Lagoons. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Driver was Jonathan and he did a good job negotiating the challenging roads to the trailhead.

Hike was tougher than I anticipated due to the slippery and sometimes very steep trail. However, with some care, it is quite safe since there are cables to hang on to on all the hardest sections. The end of the hike is on a rough road where we encountered some obnoxious ATVs, but the rest of the hike is in the forest and very quiet.

Highlight for us was the terrific meal served at the farmhouse. It was great to enjoy a meal overlooking a beautiful view. Overall it was a great day and we'd recommend this excursion to either experienced hikers or very fit and adventurous novices.

We had booked through a tour company and told them our priorities for the week which involved activity, volcanoes, hiking and animals. We were staying in Arenal and this was on our itinerary and we really didn’t know what to expect. We got picked up at 7:15 in the morning and were told we had about an hour and a half drive to where we were going. What an unexpected surprise. We did a 6 mile hike starting from a family’s property. The first 2 to 3K were up and down doing a very rugged hike through their unbelievable property. We made our way around to the three craters and back up the other side. We were able to see howler monkeys, birds, beautiful butterflies and a snake. The views were magnificent. Our guide was amazing. Before we were driven back to Arenal, we were brought back to where we started and fed an unbelievable lunch from the family who owns the property where the hike starts. This is definitely a tour for active people, but definitely off the beaten path, and highly recommended for people that want something a little different.

This hike is intense. Our tour guide was Andy and he was fantastic! It took us about 3.5 hours to complete but it was well worth it. The views are stunning and we even got to swim in the lagoon. After the hike, we went to a local house and had lunch with a Costa Rican family. It was unreal. This was such an amazing experience and if you are up for it, I would highly recommend.

This was stunning nearly 7 mile hike up to rim of volcanic crater to view 3 lagoons in the middle. Then an arduous hike down through rainforest into the crater to view lagoons up close. Then up out of crater to a scrumptious lunch prepared at the house of a local family. We are senior citizens but in pretty good shape. It took us 4.5 hours but we made it! Views are stunning and our guide and driver, Mainor and Jonathan, were Amazing! This is a rigorous hike but worth it! Long pants and sturdy hiking shoes are a must!
