- Flyer7717900A Perfect DayJazmín is an incredible guide who speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable. She made this tour very special. I was the only person, so it was an amazing private tour. Jazmín had been my guide on the La Fortuna waterfall hike as well, and I was very fortunate to have her as a guide a second time. She was very attentive, taking breaks when needed, and never making me feel rushed. This allowed me sufficient time to enjoy the amazing blue river water and spectacular views. We had excellent weather and were able to see Tenorio volcano. This was a perfect day, capped off with an excellent lunch. Thanks also to Marvin, our excellent driver.
- kitten41600Evening frog excursionGuide was really great and let us find the frogs on our own for the most part. Was an interesting adventure. The dinner at a private home was so lovely and relaxing. A great nature experience.
- Richard E00Maleuk Reserve ToyrWe had a great time our guide from Eco tours was wonderful and the guide from the reserve was friendly and super informative. He did a great job. The tour about the medicinal plants had fascinating information. Don’t forget your bug spray. They served a wonderful lunch.
- E8359JOerics00Fantastic Tour! This tour was awesome! The bridges are very secure but still give you that “Indiana Jones” vibe. Great views of wildlife. Saw a turantula in his spider hole. Recommend 100%!!
- nataliedevlinnn00Ideal for the most adventurous of adventure seekersThis was such a cool experience! My fiancé and I went not really knowing what to expect, but we were in for a treat! While walking through the cave, you are also walking/crawling through a river, so do be prepared to get wet. Fortunately, they provided us with boots, so really no need to worry, just be sure to wear clothes you are okay with getting wet and dirty. I was so shocked by how adventurous this experience was; you are truly crawling through tight crevices, climbing large formations, etc. You will see so many amazing formations and animals (bats, spiders, etc.) and learn a ton about the caves. The guides are super knowledgeable and helpful - they eased my nerves about climbing some of the larger formations and made sure I was safe. We also really enjoyed the commitment of the company to preserving the ecosystems within the caves. We only walk through a portion of the expansive cave to ensure that the caves stay in tact, and they do not put lights throughout the cave which would inherently deter the wildlife that exists. Instead, they provide you with a light on a helmet so that you can see without fundamentally disturbing the ecosystems in place. This is an awesome and totally unique experience that I would highly recommend.
- StephFam202200A wonderful, cultural family experience! We actually had two days with Ecoterra! The first day was the sloth observatory! We were led by Joseway (spelling?) who was absolutely awesome! We had a great experience looking for the sloths! Then we went to family’s house and got to experience their farm, make chocolate from cacao, juice from sugarcane, and eat with her family! It was truly a rich culture experience for the kids! We also did the night walk, which was tons of fun and full of interesting creatures! We then had a beautiful dinner in a family’s home and was able buy some of their homemade crafts! Although I forget the leaders name, he was full of energy and knowledge! Thank you for a wonderful family experience !
- kst3737700Sloths with Elena!Elena picked us up at the hotel and took us to Sloths Territory. We absolutely loved this tour. We were able to see quite a few sloths, including 2 babies!! We got some great pictures and learned a lot about the environment. Both families would highly recommend this tour. Elena was so kind and answered all of kids ridiculous questions!!
- Hannebc1200Uninterested Guide in a rush to get homePoor experience. The guide had no interest in the group and was only showing the way. We walked 4km in difficult terrain, and had only few stops, as it the guide seemed more determined to finish the trail early, than to provide us with an experience. The hike was shortened without any explanation to 4 km and trekking was only two hours.
- Tlaquepaque2100Brilliant Blue River in a Lush Green ForestDaniella was our guide for the Celeste River and Tenorio Volcano National Park hike. She was a wealth of knowledge about Rio Celeste. Toward the beginning of the trail, the waterfall is beautiful (many steps to the viewing platform). At the end of the trail is the mixing point "The Teñideros" where the two rivers join to create the chalky light blue color of the water. This was a full day excursion - Ecoterra picked us up from our hotel around 7:30am, drove us about 2hr to Tenorio National Park. After the hike they drove us 5 minutes to a small restaurant called La Armistad for lunch - the food was delicious. We then drove back to Arenal area and were delivered to our hotel around 3pm.
- amyrY8942XK00Awesome!Awesome day! The company communicated very well from the moment we booked the excursion to the day before with confirmation of pickup place and time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. Group was only 6 people. Would highly recommend.
- Vacation58634600Amazing Farm TourAmazing experience for the whole family. Really enjoyed learning about this family's organic farming. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and lunch was delicious. Highly recommend
- sray7700Great farm experience in Costa Rica! This was the best thing we did in Costa Rica, and that is saying a lot. I grew up on a farm a long time ago in Kentucky, and so this brought back many memories of the family farm to me. This is the way farming was done years ago, when people were close to the land, close to nature. These folks are doing it right! Thank you again for having us!
- Marianna P00Very Special Evening on a family owned farmWe enjoyed this experience of a night walk and dinner on a family owned farm. The home is delightful with a open air terrace with amazing views. After a introduction by the family, we went on night walk where we saw numerous frogs, sloth and more. Afterwards a delicious dinner on the beautiful open air terrace.
- Marianna P00Cool Cave with unexpected monkey siting! We had a wonderful morning on this wild cave tour. It was not like other wild caves I have been to. You need water shoes since you are walking in a stream the entire time. We saw many interesting formations as well as the bats. The biggest surprise was on the 5 minute walk to the cave entrance we saw numerous howler monkeys. Also learned all about the leaf cutter ants.
- Juli G00Great experience to learn about local culture and history. Highly recommendWe learned so much about this very important indigenous tribe. We were a group of three. My 78 year old mother makes documentary films about indigenous people in the US and found the experience very interesting. Highly recommend for learning about the local history and traditions.

We had great weather and a fun tour guide. The trail is easy enough to do in sneakers, if that is all you packed. The trail could be muddy if it had been raining, but was in prime condition when we went. We didn't read well enough that we would be able to soak in the Ecotermales (hot springs). Towels are provided, but bring your suit! half of our party was prepared, the other half just soaked their feet.

We did the combination tour: arenal hiking in the morning, then la Fortuna waterfalls and in the afternoon the hanging bridges. It was great because they took care of everything: a shuttle came to pick us up, we had a guide and a driver who took us to the hike. We were given water and walking sticks. There we spent about 1,5h hiking at the bottom of the volcano. Unfortunately it was a little foggy, so we couldn’t see much of the volcano, but it was still a great hike and our guide (Dani) showed us many plants and explained all about the history of volcanoes etc. Afterwards we did a quick walk to the parking lot and saw a few animals on the way. There cookies and fresh fruit were already prepared for us. Next stop was the waterfall, which was a nice excursion. After that we were taken to a restaurant for a nice lunch and then dropped off at the hotel for an hour. Then another shuttle and guide (Rosa) picked us up and took us to the hanging bridges: amazing ! We had very little time in arenal, so the combination tour was perfect because everything from tickets/lines/driving was organized for us. Definitely worth the money.

This all day excursion is an absolute must if you are in La Fortuna for a short period of time. Our tour guide Alberto was fantastic - friendly and extremely knowledgeable especially regarding wildlife. Before we even left hotel grounds, Alberto spotted a group of toucans. We pulled over, and he set up the spotting scope so we could see them up close. He even took photos with our phone through the scope. He always took the time throughout the tour to offer to take photos of our family at the perfect place to capture the beauty of the landscape. Not even a few more miles down the road we stopped to watch 3 sloths. One was climbing a tree. We were told that this isn’t common, so we were very happy to have experienced it. The hike to the volcano was comfortable for people of all ages. The waterfall was beautiful, but the hike back up was quite a workout. The hanging bridge tour was awesome. We saw 3 viper snakes, 2 were so close that we could touch them. We learned to look before you step and watch where you put your hands. We also saw birds, bats, lizards, a beehive, a frog, a tarantula and amazing trees. Alberto knew each species and told us all about them. The views from the bridges were beautiful. Lunch and dinner were delicious as were the fresh fruits provided by the tour guides. They always had water on hand and walking sticks were offered during the hike. Ending the day at Baldi hot springs was just what we needed. The kids had a blast on the water slides. I would highly recommend this all day tour if you want to see all that there is to see in La Fortuna in one day.

My husband and I did the full-day combination tour which included the park hike, La Fortuna Waterfall, lunch, Hanging Bridges tour, Tabacon Hot Springs, and dinner. If it sounds like a lot in one day, it is, but was so worth it. Our guide was Rosa and she couldn't have been better suited for her task. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for the land, the wildlife, and her culture made her the perfect companion for the day. With so many activities and so much transportation to coordinate, I was very impressed with Ecoterra's efficiency. After a full day of walking and climbing, Tabacon Hot Springs were the perfect way to soothe our muscles. Our tour group was small (never more than 8 people at any one time) and we felt that Rosa was personally addressing each of us. Thank you Rosa and Ecoterra for an incredible (although exhausting) day.

Wonderful day with Luis and Miguel - they both took so much trouble to ensure we saw all that we could and even stopped on the journey to show us our own personal sloth!
Very interesting tours although would have been better without the rain!
Hanging bridges the highlight of the day!
Very clean and comfortable mini bus with a safe driver highly recommend this company.

We had three full days with these guys - they provided a transfer from our resort on the Pacific coast - air con and WIFI provided. They arranged for us to do zip lining (amazing, inclusive, fun, safe), the combo tour which was fabulous but you need to be FIT to do this as it's hard work - however our guide took it at our pace and was very good and not making it obvious that he was allowing certain people (me) to get their breath by quickly thinking of a very important fact to share! The hanging bridges were spectacular - the waterfall beautiful (lots of steps) and the hot springs at Tabacon very good with great food. Lunch at the lovely Casa Luna was excellent. The volcano hike was disappointing as it was cloudy so we couldn't see much but we found loads of interesting things to look at in the forest, which made up for it. We got VERY MUDDY.
The sloth tour was very good - a nice easy walk with lots of wildlife to see and of course Sloths! Need repellent for this one.
All the staff were wonderful but we loved Ray
When they dropped us off three hours' drive away we realised that my daughter had left her phone in the van! We didn't have the driver's number and could see on 'find my iphone' that it was on its way back to Fortuna and already 20 miles away! We sent a sound to the phone and tried to call the phone but no reply! We frantically tried to call the office but there was no reply so we sent a whatsapp in the hope that the staff would find the phone before the van was used again. We then went back onto the 'find my iphone' app to block the phone, only to see that it was on its way back to us - the driver had heard the sound and turned around to bring it back for us. Heartfelt thanks - not only is this an expensive item but another 10 days with a 16 year old who has lost her phone was not a good thought!

We used Ecoterra to arrange transportation, lodging and tours for us. They were excellent to work with - responsive, kind, and very informed. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone in our party had what they needed.

For this trip we were picked up around 10.30 from our hotel and went straight to the volcano hike. We were lucky with the weather and managed to get a great view of the volcano and our guide was lovely. Two other couples were on this tour with us and one had asthma so we made sure we took it slow. To be honest the rest of us were happy to do it slow.
After the volcano there was fresh fruit waiting for us all laid out at the bottom which was a great touch.
After here we went to the waterfall. Beautiful but be prepared to deal with a LOT of steps. Take water shoes with you as it’s a little rocky. The water is fresh so a far cry from the hot springs in the hotel 😂
After this we went for lunch I’m a nearby restaurant. Only a few options to pick from but I understand this is necessary as when they take big groups it would be difficult to navigate.
Very happy we did it all in one day as it felt like a good trip.
