We did the Sarapiqui Jungle Run Class 3-4 rafting from La Fortuna. Everyone we encountered at Disafio was friendly, helpful, and professional! On the day of our trip, Kevin, our guide, was amazing!!! His fun personality and, of course, guiding expertise made the day even more enjoyable!!! Thank you, Kevin! He added in some extra excitement like trying to stand through the rapids and letting my son "guide" for the last set of rapids. I also highly recommend Disafio. We did a different tour with a different company the next day and WOW! What a difference! I believe all of the at least 8 staff and guides we encountered looked disheveled and were not happy, friendly, or outgoing. They didn't even try to fake it. Our guide was sort of present and did provide a little information en route to a couple of the locations but he was not in any way friendly or pleasant to be around. It just brought the mood down so much. Soooo.... go with Disafio. If you are rafting - hope for Kevin. I'm sure the other guides were also good, but Kevin was awesome!

I booked zip line, bungee and rafting with this company, and rafting was my favourite experience. I would strongly recommend to go for the full day as even then you will wish you had more time in the end! Our guide Noel (BugsBunny) was very enthusiastic, and spoke English perfectly. In the boat he would give loud and clear instructions, and made sure we had lots of fun while staying safe. Food stops where good. Definitely recommend the experience and this company, and our guide Noel.

Great rafting trip. Was fun and exciting without being to intense. Food was wonderful and all the staff seem to know the river exceptionally well, placing the raft perfectly in each rapid. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

the rafting was fun but too structured. the guide in the back really controlled the boat the whole time, we did have to paddle but it felt like it wasn't necessary. the waves and bumps and splashes were cool, but it wasn't the adventure that I thought it would be. very safe. a little too safe

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback. I’m glad you pointed out we were safe. Our river guides need to control the boat so as not to lose the river line and get the best rapids. Again many thanks for your comment we hope you come back soon and can enjoy the same or a different adventure with more adrenaline with us. Pura Vida!!

Did this class 3 - 4 rapids tour with friends. Hotel pick up by bus and an hour drive to the rest area then another 30 minutes to the launch point. Through briefings, every one was geared up, some practice drills then into the fun. We were tossed about, soaked and laughed the whole time. Steven our guide has a ton of experience and kept us safe. He knows the river and in the calmer portions took the time to point out animal and birds. Snacks at the half way mark and a great lunch at the end. Would totally recommend this to anyone.

One of my new friends and I decided to do whitewater rafting for her birthday. Since we were the only two from our group doing, we had a smaller raft with our guide David. David was a blast and made the trip so much fun. He made us laugh the entire trip and made sure my friend had an amazing birthday. Gabriel, our safety guide, was awesome too. After we were finished, they even brought out a cake for her birthday. They went above and beyond. It was a really memorable day for my friend. And our driver Yoleney was fantastic taking us from La Fortuna and back.

Multiple companies do the rafting tours. However, we were looking for a pickup at San Jose airport and a drop off in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca after the rafting trip. They had a private shuttle pick us up at 0800 at the airport and took us for about a 4 hour rafting trip on the Sarapiqui River. It was class 3-4 rapids due to the time of year. Had a great guide that pointed out animals along the way. Stopped for fruit and water break halfway thru and finished off with a hot lunch and a beer. Our private shuttle was waiting for us at the end and took us the rest of the way to our destination.

I went water rafting with this company 10/21 we started about 10:30am to 4:00pm as we were on the river we had a gentleman from the company escorting us taking pictures 📸 at the end of day they told me the pictures are usually $35 but he would only charge us $20 he asked for my email and said he would send a link 24-48 hrs I called the company twice telling them I never received the link and making sure they have the correct email address, both times they told me they would take care of it! And yet it’s the 26th of October and still nothing! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

This company will not take any accountability regarding you or your belongings, even if it Is their fault.

One of the kayaking tour guides asked me for my phone during the trip. My phone was in a water proof case on a chain around my neck. It was safe and secure the whole first half of the trip. The employee, who clearly should not have been asking for my phone, kept insisting, saying he could take a wonderful picture of my friends and I. I told him I didn't want to give him my phone because we were in the water. He kept on insisting. Reluctantly, I gave him my phone, thinking he is a professional and he knows what he is doing. Being a professional, he should know the rules, and if he is asking for my phone, then that means it is probably part of company policy to do this. Clearly he was a pro kayaker and he has been doing this for a while. I asked him to hold the phone and tie the chain around his wrist to prevent losing it. He did not follow these instructions and held the phone normally for a picture, He was in the middle of taking a picture when he dropped my phone in the river. It was a new iPhone worth almost 1k. He instantly apologized for dropping my phone, and prepared his goggles as he was going to look for it. He and his team paused the rafting and spent about 30-45 minutes looking for it but to no avail. They held themselves fully accountable, having witnessed the whole situation, knowing full well the tour guide should not have insisted on taking my phone, and that he clearly dropped it.

I understand the rules of not bringing your cell phone rafting. I had mine in a waterproof case and had it clipped on a string around my neck. It was very secure for the entirety of the trip until I reluctantly gave it to the tour guide. I kept it safe the entire time. The only reason it was lost was because the tour guide asked for it. He should know not to ask for the phone, and better yet, not to drop it in the middle of the river.

We finished the rafting, and had lunch. I tried to track my phone but it lost signal underwater. During the lunch, all of the tour guides, all of whom witnessed the situation, told me that it was not right for the guide to ask me for my phone. They told me that since it was the tour guides fault for dropping my phone, the rafting team would take full responsibility and stated they already informed the main Desafio company and filed an incident report. The tour guides mentioned to me that I would be fully reimbursed for the item they lost, and that the main office in La Fortuna has already been informed of my situation and they are waiting for me there to file my side of the official incident report.

I was partly relieved knowing that they are taking full accountability for their mistake.

We drove back about 45 minutes to La Fortuna and were ready to file the report. This is where things started getting very shady. At first, the Desafio employees, who already should have known about my situation according to the rafting guides who previously stated they took full responsibility and filed an incident report, pretended to not know about my situation. They mentioned this is the first they're hearing about my situation, which is a blatant lie because I was there when the tour guides called the company. The problem was they were speaking Spanish which I did't understand, so they could have been saying anything. They pretended to empathize with my situation, and told me they would take my name, number, and email to further "investigate" the situation. they urged me to leave and said they would "look into it."

I did not want to leave because things seemed shady and it seemed like they were no longer taking responsibility. I asked to speak with a manager. At first they blatantly lied to me once again and said the manager isn't here. I asked for the phone number for the manager so that I could at least call them, to which they replied that they are not able to give me the number. At one point they even told me there is no manager. I was tired of the lies and finally after about 1 hour of arguing, they brought the manager from upstairs. She was here this whole time, and clearly did not want to be bothered by us nor find a proper solution.

She was very rude, screaming at us and not wanting to work things outs. She made fun of my friends phone, which had a broken screen protector, and said "why do you even care about a phone like that" implying my phone was crappy and I should not be concerned that I lost it. There was no reason to be rude and make a comment like that, especially when it was her rafting employee who was responsible and accountable. She denied accountability.

I argued with the manager and told her the rafting crew already took full accountability for the loss. They assured me everything would be taken care of at the main Desafio office in La Fortuna. I even had the number of the rafting guide on my friends phone. We proceeded to call the rafting guide back and tell him to explain the situation to management at Desafio. They spoke in Spanish for some time, and after about an hour told us that they would not take any responsibility for the incident. We were in disbelief. The same rafting guide who took accountability and apologized for losing my phone after it happened, with text messages between him and my friend showing him apologizing for dropping my phone after we left, was denying accountability.

We should have known. The rafting crew made up a story about how the company would take accountability just to send us off to the main office in La Fortuna 45 minutes away. Then the main office tells me its my fault that their employee lost my phone. I couldn't believe it. They said they would file an incident report and I would receive an email in a few days regarding a possible reimbursement. I have received nothing yet and it's been over a week. I have tried contacting them but to no avail.

It's scary to think that we were on a rafting tour, one that is risky as you could tell by some of the reviews mentioning the rafts flipped over, where we witnessed one of the rafts flip and people being thrown out of their boats into the rapids (luckily no one was injured), that a company like this takes no accountability when something goes wrong, for even a phone let alone someones life. Makes me think whether they would even take accountability if someone was injured or worse.

Terrible company, the rude nature, the lies, the blatant disrespect for out time and integrity. this company does not care about their customer, all they care about is money. It seems they don't care about protecting their employees either. There were other customers present who asked us about the situation. We explained to them what happened, and they felt unsafe after to book with this company.

I went with 4 friends who witnessed the situation, along with other rafters from different groups.

Not only did they not take accountability, they were also very rude and condescending, speaking to each other in Spanish and laughing at us. I wasn't mad about losing my phone, I was more mad dealing with the company afterwards for almost 2 hours within nothing but lies and disrespect to show for it.
