Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience
Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience. Crossing the river was a bit of an adventure in itself. The pleasant warmth made us forget the wet and the rain. Our guide Otto was very committed and friendly. He put us in a very good mood and he gave us a good description of the special features of the volcano and the lake. Unfortunately we had lost our sunglasses but thanks to Otto's commitment we drove back to the river in the van and luckily he found the glasses. Many thanks for this. The photos he took are a nice reminder of the great morning. We can absolutely recommend the tour

very good tour operator, trustworthy guides & drivers
Luckily we only had our tour guide Santo to ourselves on the day and we did quite a lot. He first took us to Arenal's hanging bridges where he carried a scope which proved very handy in order to see some tiny, camouflaged viper snakes we saw on that day, he was informative, then took us for a walk around Arenal's volcano, we had a snack break in between with fruits and water, then lunch at Desafio's main offices/restaurant and then we ended the day with a dip at La Fortuna waterfall. It was a lovely day and we definitely can't recommend this friendly company enough. That night, we didn't realise until we were picked up and back at the main offices/restaurant, that we also booked a cooking class with the same company. It was a delight, the meal we prepared was delicious and once again, our cook explained everything really well, she was fun and very kind.

        Rafting Sarapiqui River
Best crew in the business!! Julio made sure that the 1hr drive seemed like 15mins. He even showed some wildlife on the way to the river, plus shared some tips for around Arenal. Once there, David, Enrique and staff made sure we were ready for the rapids. Once on the water, we had a great time, even though we had not done this type of activity in a while. After the rafting the Tico lunch was delicious! Thank you guys for showing such us a great time! Will come back soon with the rest of the family!

        Thrilling Experience!
What a thrilling experience! Our raft guide Sarah was professional and personable. As 1st time rafters, she made us feel safe which allowed us to enjoy the experience! She even educated us on the surroundings. From pick up to drop off (which included a tasty lunch), we had the best time! I would definitely do it again.

Amazing thrill and true outdoor experience
This was such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it if you are looking for some good action. This was a true adventure in the forrest, while we had all the right gear and it was always safe, it was not a "curated experience", it had nice walks, repel and an incredible 30-feet jump at the end (optional). My wife and 12 y/o son were able to do it but it takes that adventurous spirit

        Terrifying rafting experience
The gravity repel and canyoning was great however the rafting was a disaster. The guide on our boat (Sarah) was totally incompetent. From the start she had a terrible attitude and talked to us all very disrespectfully. Then she proceeded to get stuck on several large rocks plus capsizing the boat requiring the help of several other guides. I was hit by the boat when it was being recovered and went flying down the rapids sustaining several injuries. Other members of the boat were also injured. She paid no notice to this afterwards and proceeded to blame us when she was crashing into several other rocks. Terrible experience which is a shame as the other boats with other guides seemed to be having fun.

Excellent rafting experience with a very professional company
A brilliant rafting trip with a really professional company, would highly recommend them. We were really well looked after and the Captain of the raft was excellent and made sure we all had great fun but with safety in mind. Great lunch at the end too!

Best thing to do in Arenal region.
This was my favourite thing that we did in La Fortuna. First, the pick-up at our hotel was on time (about 5 minutes early) and we were taken to Lake Arenal. The guides Josué and Delvin were excellent. They were courteous polite and professional. We ended up being the only two people on the sunset cruise - they didn’t cancel, instead they gave us the best experience ever. What i loved about these guys was their knowledgeable and passionate love of the region and the nature around the lake. Delvin took out his bird book to help identify some of the birds we came across and Josué, who grew up there, told us of the history of this man-made lake. We got beautiful pictures, had great snacks and drank some great "moonshine" cocktails. This was our most memorable tour.

        Bring your own water shoes!
We didn’t make the most out of the trip but it’s somewhat our own fault. We didn’t want to get our shoes wet because we would board a 4 hour plane in those shoes right after the bike ride, and the instruction didn’t specify that we would need water shoes Our guide Josue is very accommodating and super knowledgeable, he made sure we enjoyed a different bike route as much as possible. I wish the instruction was more clear so we can get the most value out of our trip.

Brilliant SUP experience on Lake Arenal
A wonderful SUP on Lake Arenal. We had a whole mix of weather and enjoyed every minute. From pick up to drop off the company looked after us all the time with a punctual pick up, comfortable ride to the lake, well-tailored outing, snack and drink afterwards and a comfortable transfer back to our hotel, stopping on the way to show us toucans! Highly recommend these guys for a fantastic adventure.

Fantastic activity for all ages - highly recommend
We absolutely loved this experience! We did four waterfalls, and a couple of other fun water adventures (I won’t spoil it), and loved every minute. The guides were great and we felt safe the whole time. We bought the photos with cash upfront, and over 150 of them received the next morning via email. We did the 10am tour and did not get a chance to eat until 1.30pm… prepare for this as we were all absolutely starving. The way out involves some steep steps so a basic level of fitness is required. Highly recommend!!

Our guide Kristel was excellent, we were a small group and she took care to ensure that we made the most of the day, fascinating wildlife that included a hummingbird on a nest. Would absolutely recommend

        Memorable Experience at Arenal Volcano
We had a perfect experience on this hiking tour. The weather was perfect with semi-clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Our guide, Heimie, was experienced and shared both historical and current detail about the Arenal Volcano. We enjoyed up-close sightings of sloths and monkeys along with numerous opportunities to see the peak of Arenal. We highly recommend this tour.

        Honeymoon bliss
My wife and I went on our honeymoon to Costa Rica. We had a full day of floating down a river to see monkeys/wildlife, seeing La Fortuna waterfall, and hiking Arenal Volcano. Our tour guide Jose was absolutely amazing and truly made the entire day special. We can't recommend him enough and hope when we return we can have another adventure with him. Thank you!

So the water is so pretty. I wish California waters looked like this. The walk was long but beautiful. FYI, its a long long way down to see the waterfall up close. its about 200 stairs. I didnt make it down there because im afraid of heights and walking down steep stairs scares me but its still a great experience. Take good walking shoes.

Had an amazing experience with Estaban, who carried a telescope the entire way and pointed out a lot of great flora (quite rainy and windy when we went, so not much wildlife to see). This forest is a great moderate-level hike (lots of steps), but I could see how it might get crowded in the high season. Gorgeous views. I was the only person who signed up and operator (Desafio) didn't cancel, which speaks highly of them. Definitely recommend.

A great hiking trip in the Tenorio national park with Marco who shared his enthusiasm and knowledge about the rainforest. The waterfall is really a magical place and the secrets of the blue water are fascinating. I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide Carlos couldn’t help the fact that it poured raining for most of our hike. He but did make it as fun as possible and gave us a lot of insight on the area. Lunch was filling and enjoyable

Our tour guide and bus driver were so attentive and informative. I’m still not sure how he did it, but our guide, Carlos, saw a sloth sitting in a tree from our moving van! I knew right then and there we were in for a treat.
The hike was exactly as I had imagined and was well prepared for the amount of steps and stairs I would have to complete. The views are worth every step! The lunch afterwards was delicious.
Thank you for such a fun time.

We did the Rio Celeste through Desafio Adventure Co while staying in La Fortuna, and it was a great experience. The shuttle ride to Rio Celeste is a fun way to see some smaller Costa Rica communities and countryside. Our guide and driver were professional and fun, and spoke excellent English. The hike itself goes through some beautiful rain forest, sometimes muddy, sometimes a little steep, but not too difficult. The waterfall and the river are stunning - I’ve never seen that color blue in fresh water before. On the way home, we stopped at an excellent roadside restaurant for lunch, with delicious local food. Highly recommend this activity!

We went on this hike during the rainy season, and once I realized the river would probably not be blue on our day, I kind of regretted booking it. HOWEVER, it ended up being one of our best experiences! Our guide, Walter, was amazing. So incredibly knowledgeable about the environment and the region's history, and life in Costa Rica. It was so much more interesting and educational than I expected, and it added so much depth to our experience. We feel so lucky to have spent a day with Walter! Pura Vida Mae!

This tour included round trip transportation, entrance fee to park, guide, and lunch. Desafio picked us up at our hotel just before 8am. It was about an hour and twenty minute drive to Tenorio National Park. #1 tip: RENT THE BOOTS!!! If you do not have heavy duty hiking boots and want to save yourself a ton of trouble, pay the $4 and rent the waterproof wellies! Best decision of the day. Hiking through the rain forest, you better believe it's going to rain and boy were we glad we had those boots. It gets super muddy - totally manageable, but with boots, there are no worries, just keep plowing through. The total hike was about 4 hours in total. Round trip it was challenging, but the views of the river and waterfall were just exquisite! It was super cloudy, so when we reached the top of the hike, we weren't able to see the 3 volcano peaks, however it was still beautiful to watch the movement of the cloud forest mist. Our guide explained the water color and sediment at the bottom where the two rivers converge - it was very interesting. After the hike, we stopped at the cafe to re-fuel. The food was good and hit the spot after a long day of work. Our hotel (El Silencio del Campo) connected us with Desafio, but we did 3 tours with this company and all 3 were smooth with no complications.
