About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- neilbS830OM0 contributionsSuzhou and Tongli day trip with HarrisHarris was so knowledgeable about the places we visited, great with the kids and speak fluent English. Throughout the trip, he managed to capture kid's attention and engaged with them. He took us to an authentic local eating place in Tongli water village, despite a fussy vegetarian husband and kids (popped their eyes when they saw escargot served), they loved their traditional pork knuckles so much that they asked for more rice. YES!! Overall, we had a great memorable trip. Thanks Harris! Highly recommended.Written October 11, 2019

- divadi20170 contributionsHarris Is The Best! This is my 2nd tour with Harris. My 1st tour was in March 2018 - excellent foodie tour (also helped to find pharmacy for cough drops). I feel lucky to experience Harris' expertise, flexibility, patience and humor. My family enjoyed an all day customized outing. Some of the highlights included Qibao Old Street, InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland and Songjiang district. Being immersed in yellow canola fields is a visual delight! Harris provided interesting commentary for all the places we visited. I highly recommend Harris for your first Shanghai tour or returning visit. Harris will customize your tour to your specifics,in addition to providing his own suggestions. You will gain insight and perspective with Harris' knowledge. I am looking forward to touring with Harris again, on a future trip.Written April 9, 2019
- daviddW9440IC0 contributionsShanghai tour with kidsHarris was great. My wife and I and our three children (6-12 yo) loved having Harris as our guide. We did the TV tower in the financial district first thing in the morning which was great and beat the crowds, then off to see many other things, finishing at the Bund. He also went above and beyond helping us arrange a van when we got back to Shanghai after going to Beijing. I had contacted him using WeChat and he helped me arrange a van and driver to get us from the train station to Disney, which he didn't have to do. Would highly recommend and will contact him again if we make it back for more exploring.Written March 21, 2019
- ecb190 contributionsShanghai - 2 vistits, 2 toursHarris is an excellent guide. He tailors the tour to your needs and really undrstands the history and context of the city. I would thoroughly recomend a tour with himWritten March 11, 2019
- chuckies660 contributionsGreat dayI contacted Harris and his english was perfect both written and speech. He was very quick to reply to emails also Unfortunately he was unable to do our day trip but provided someone with equally good english in both written and speech and a very good driver was provided we had a great day I would have no hesitation in recommending HarrisWritten March 7, 2019
- colber1230 contributionsSimply amazing. We only had one full day in Shanghai and wanted to make the best of it so I found Harris' name on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. It started out as only being 4 of us on the tour, but he was able to easily and quickly adapt to our group's size and supplied a bus and driver for 8 of us. He also replied quickly to my emails with all of my questions which was appreciated. He was early on his pick-up time and spent the whole day with us showing us the amazing sights of Shanghai as well as taking us places we would never have thought of going that impressed us immensely. His English was excellent as he shared many stories of the area and was truly interested in us as Canadians. We visited the Pearl to get a lay of the land, the Bund, the temple and old market as well as a Chinese garden, and he chose a Chinese restaurant for us that we all loved (hard to do with a group of 8, in my mind). We also visited the Shanghai Museum and it was an amazing place that explained Shanghai's history very well, with not a lot of reading. This is a place we would likely not have stopped at if Harris had not asked if we would be interested as I had not read anything about it on websites related to Shanghai. We were together 8 hours and you cannot find a better price per person than we received from Harris and we got to see what we wanted to see, not a regular bus tour that only goes to certain places on their schedule. At the end of it, he told us which season it was (strawberry) so when the driver picked us up, we had the best strawberries we have ever tasted given to us to eat on our way back to the hotel. If you are looking for a walking, personalized tour, then you should contact Harris--you will not be disappointed.Written March 6, 2019
- Japbonsai10 contributionsHarris is a fabulous guideMy sister and I did a private evening tour, cruise, dinner and took in an acrobatic show. Harris is very proud of Shanghai and we enjoyed all he had to share with us. Being out on the river at dusk was really beautiful and enjoying a private tour is well worth it. Well done Harris and so pleased you were our guide. Thanks Denis and Debi CookWritten September 26, 2018
- FamilyOf4OnHolidays0 contributionsAmazing experience! We went on a two day private tour to Hangzhou and the water town Nanxun with Harris. (which was awesome!) Harris has great English and knowledge. He always finds great food for everyone's liking while giving us new food to try at the same time! Harris is very friendly with a great van to fit a big group of 9 people.Written September 22, 2018

- Mpielert0 contributionsAwesome Day Trip from ShanghaiOur tour guide Harris provided our family with a day we will never forget. He met us at our hotel and drove us about an hour to the water village of Zhujiajio. We walked the canals and ate the great street food along the way. We then visited a private villa in town with amazing antique furniture, statues, paintings and tapestry. What an amazing private residence. We finished the trip in the water village with a fun gondola ride. However the highlight of the trip was a visit to a farm house just outside of town where our family was treated to an amazing traditional meal along with a tour of the property. What a memorable experience. Harris is a great guide and we look forward to recommend him to any folks who are lucky enough to visit Shanghai.Written April 15, 2018
- KateC19990 contributionsTailor made tourContacted Harris by email with a request for tailor made tour at a fixed time and date. Harris immediately responded with recommendation and a quote. He arrived promptly at our hotel with a driver. We had a great few hours seeing the highlights of Shanghai. Harris was knowledgable, polite and very aware of his audience giving us the time and space to chat but also to give us lots of interesting information. Would highly recommend Harris.Written March 26, 2018
- Strength2Jan0 contributionsInformative Tour of Old and NewI was picked up from my hotel by a very kind young man named Jason who would be our driver for the day. We met our guide, Daniel in the Financial District which included a walk along the river and an explanation of the architecture and history of the area. Daniel was quite knowledgeable and we took photo opportunities along the promenade and near the famous Bull representing the Bull Market of Shanghai. We also entered one of the largest buildings on the Bund. It is currently a bank and the beautiful aesthetics have been preserved for over 100 years. The next adventure was to The Observation Deck of the Shanghai Financial Building which began construction in 2005. Looking over the city from the 97th floor was spectacular. With several floor tiles made of glass, there were a few breathtaking moments as you glanced at the world below. Our final visit was to the Ancient City of Zhujiajiao. It was a step back in time for sure with vendors selling their wares, specialty shops, tea houses and restaurants. There was quite a crowd here as well with gondola rides available along the river that divides the area from North and South. The lunch was good and plentiful. I enjoyed my adventure from Old Way meets New Way. I recommend Daniel and Jason as two kind conscientious young men sharing their heritage and culture with the world.Written March 22, 2018

Harris Gu was our guide for 4 days in Shanghai and the surrounding area.
The day we got there (there were 6 of us0 he met us at our hotel and took us on a walking tour of downtown Shanghai. He was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, spoke excellent English. He figured we were hungry and took us to have a lovely snack/meal where we were able to spend some time asking questions about Shanghai, his background and what the next three days would be. We went back to the hotel to rest and go to his recommended restaurant, which turned out to be wonderful.

What a gem of a guide. The tour was informative about old-town, the culture, and the food. Harris met us at our hotel then we walked to the subway and our journey began. We walked through old-town, the Zig Zag bridge, the antique booths, and the market where the fish were alive and eggs were plentiful from many species of birds. Our half-day was plenty of time to get oriented in Shanghai. The only thing I would not have done was the walk through the floor booths where the merchants sold antiques on their mats. Other than that, the tour was great.

Good day to you - we are 4 persons interested in this tour. We arrive in the Shanghai cruise terminal in December and would like to do a private tour. One of us is in a wheelchair but fully capable of getting into a sedan type vehicle (a mini-van will also work if he is able to sit in the passenger seat in the front of the mini-van).
Kindly advise the cost for the 4 of us, thanks. Paul
