- j_rgenm1870 contributionsWe Treat our guests as our good friends.- not just empty wordsI'm writing this review even so I couldn’t enjoy the tours with Miki. We booked 2 tours in Shanghai, unfortunately I was not able to travel due to sickness. I informed Miki about the circumstances 5 days prior planed arrival. We received the full money back without any complaints. This is what I would call customer service. Whenever I have the chance to book a tour with Miki, certainly I will do. Hopefully in the near future. Thanks again, best wishes, JürgenWritten January 20, 2020
- jonathancP8485GG0 contributionsBEST tour you can do in ShanghaiIf you are looking for a tour to do in Shanghai you will have no regrets using Miki's Tours. We decided on the Shanghai city sightseeing and Xitang Water Town 2 day tour for 7 people and it was fabulous. From the get go Miki and her staff were very helpful and easy to communicate with. The tours were very well planned and we really enjoyed the extra touches that were added to personalize our trip. We had the privilege of having Miki as our guide and you can tell she loves her job. She was passionate while introducing us to Chinese culture and history. You can't wrong using this company.Written January 15, 2020
- Excursion361920 contributionsPerfect trip for my family! Thank you.Our family had a really amazing by Miki. I have made several special requests and she made it happened for my family. Really appreciate. Miki English is good. Her tour is reliable and worth the value. We walked along the small lane of the villages, learning about it's history. We had popular local food that even locals have to queue for almost an hour for it. Without Miki, we would not have the opportunity to try it. Along the way, we had lots of fun. She sing for us while taking the boat ride. I requested to try more of their local breakfast the next day and she had to wake up early to order online and monitor the delivery for me. Miki is very very helpful and kind. I will definitely get her to be my guide in my next trip.Written January 3, 2020
- Princessnilia0 contributionsFood Tour and River CruiseA great way to start our 2.5days with Miki as we savoured the wonderful local street foods in comfort. The river cruise was a great way to get a quick glimpse of the major tourist points in SH without walking through the crazy crowd. This is 1 great way to “zip through” SHanghai if there isn’t much time.Written December 20, 2019
- Princessnilia0 contributionsBeautiful HangzhouIt was an amazing 2.5 days with Miki. She was knowledgable in the China history and really accommodating to the 2 children (7 and 9). The bullet train ride to Hang Zhou was an eye opener for the kids. Lunch was a lovely affair at a local restaurant with great food recommendations. Love her sharing of chinese poetry even though I don’t really understand them, it does add a different dimension of beauty to the pretty gardens and West Lake we visited. We really enjoyed the boat ride as Miki shared with us the tea culture. Ended the day with an awful performance at the Impressions of West Lake. Highly recommended.Written December 20, 2019
- Princessnilia0 contributionsAwesome Hidden Gems Tour!It was an amazing 2.5 days with Miki. She was knowledgable in the China history and really accommodating to the 2 children (7 and 9 years). She searched up an amazing very local noodle shop, xiao long bao shop, hotpot restaurant after finding out from our conversation, that the kids love them. She even brought along fish food for the kids to feed the fishies! We all loved the back alley walk especially, as it shows a different side of SH we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. Love her sharing of chinese poetry even though I don’t really understand them, it does add a different dimension of beauty to the pretty gardens we visited. Highly recommended!Written December 20, 2019
- numpy2640 contributionsTransfer from Shanghai Pudong to SuzhouMiki arranged a car for me from Shanghai Pudong airport to Suzhou. Its a pretty long distance but this was much more efficient than going through the city and out the other side. Great communication, super arrangement and easy payment afterwards - highly recommended!Written December 14, 2019
- marieldo0 contributionsOutstanding Customer ServiceWhile we weren’t able to use Miki Tours during our short visit this time, I hope to visit Shanghai again for longer and to reach out to Miki Tours again as we were very impressed with their quick, warm, and detailed response to my inquiry over email.Written November 25, 2019
- Dreamer429320 contributionsShanghaiChoosing a tour wasn’t easy and so many were overpriced and didn’t meet my needs for a family of 6. I was blessed with Miki and I’m glad I made the decision to book with her for an all day tour of the highlights of Shanghai. She was vibrant, funny and so knowledgeable that I acquired some great facts about this beautiful city. She was super punctual and organised but so honest and professional at all times. She went the extra mile and even helped us learn about the Metro and booked taxis when we weren’t on tours for us too. She booked our Disney land tickets and organised our 2 way travel. We liked her so much we booked another tour to her hometown the Water Village and we went to a local farmer’s fruit farm where my daughter enjoyed organic dragon fruit. Miki the night tour of the water village was absolutely magical from boat ride, to dressing my daughters in traditional gowns and to your voice that serenaded us in karaoke. You are by far and exceptional guide and we are glad to have met you and couldn’t praise your service, hospitality and friendship more. So to all those who want a personalised tour look no further and book with MikiWritten November 20, 2019

- HenricI_120 contributionsAs complex and interesting as wine - a not to be missed fascinating insight into Chinese tea cultureBefore this class I thought Chinese tea was just green tea, not particularly good and with some vague health benefits :). After the class and Miki’s expert guidance I was truly proven wrong. Chinese tea is as diverse and interesting as wine and there is a strong social element to sharing tea between friends and in business. There is a ceremony around serving tea that one as a westerner might find maybe overly elaborate. Cups and tea are washed. Tea is poured in a specific way. You hold the cup in a special way. The tea is savored. It takes time and it is far from just brewing a pot and having it for breakfast :). The ceremony is as peaceful as it is beautiful. You feel relaxed and it is a fantastic icebreaker when meeting new people. Miki does a great job in guiding you through this and explaining the details. The environment in the tea shop is authentic, non touristy, and you really feel you are there for a class, not to be pushed into buying expensive tee. I got the possibility to test six different types of tea white tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, dark tea and yellow tea. You learn about the differences and how to brew them. Contrary to how I have brewed my morning cup, Chinese tea is brewed for less than a minute can brew up to 15 times if the tea is really good. So even if some teas turn out to be pretty expensive you get a lot out of very little. The two teas that I found stood out was the white tea, which is just dried non processed leaves and the black Puer treat that grows on trees and is the only tea that you can store for years. The white tea turns out to be great for the evening since it has less theine and the Puer tea helps you loose weight (so awesome:)). Miki has an in depth knowledge and you feel she is really passionate about Chinese tea and sharing her love for it. She travels the country to learn more and more about growing, processing and types even if you get the feeling she is already a master. After the class Miki can also help you with buying tea and a tea set if you are interested. There is no pressure on this. She will help you get the same deal as the locals and explain the differences between tea sets to help you out. A good one is not for free, though it is a beautiful souvenir. In the class I also learnt about, Lishang xiaozhong which we call Lapsang souchong and the history behind it. In my ignorance I have always thought this was a tea from India. A fun benefit from this tea class was that I the week after was in Xiamen where the tea culture is very strong. There I was served tea expertly by one of our customers and for the first time I understood the importance of this and really appreciated the courtesy. So probably this tea class should be mandatory if you want to make friends or do business in China :). All in all a really nice and interesting morning in Shanghai with probably the best guide there is.Written October 27, 2019
- ervbrs0 contributionsExcellent experience with Miki ToursWe chose Miki Tours to arrange a seven day private tour of Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing & Shanghai. We were 4 people including my parents and my cousin. We flew from Jakarta, Indonesia and landed at Shanghai. She had arranged our transfer smoothly from airport to Hangzhou. During the tour, we were hosted by Miki, she has good personality, hospitality, helpful and excellent in giving the tour. She is fluent in English. She also has very good knowledge in tea. We tried different kind of tea during our tour. She hosted us until the program in every day is finished even though more hours needed. During the tour there was time that I & my cousin need to go by ourselves very very early in the morning and she sincerely helped us to arrange the car. Once we had still time after the program and she took us to the place that we could see beautiful sunset in Hangzhou. We have very good experience & beautiful memories during our tour and being hosted by Miki Tours is very good decisions.Written September 26, 2019
- Prabhat N0 contributionsBest of the bestWe used Miky tour company to arrange a seven day private tour of Shanghai, Beiing, guilin and Hangzhou. We were family of 4 having 2 small kids (4 and 6) and were worried regarding availability of veg food in China..I provided her my tentative plan and was pleasantly surprised to receive some good feedback regarding other options..she stayed with us even till 8-9 pm and was very flexible in timing.. Cost wise also she was extremely competitive than others. Highly recommend her to any foreigners and family with small kids..Written September 19, 2019

Tania showed us around and was very knowable and accommodating. We got done everything we wanted to and had a lovely lunch of soup dumplings. I would happily recommend this company for a great tour experience.Written August 24, 2019

Mary was our guide. Picked us up promptly from our hotel. She is one of the best guide I have ever encountered. She is knowledgeable, friendly and always accommodating to our requests. Although the tour is pretty long, from 230pm till about 10pm, there was never a dull moment. I shall not mention any spoilers here, just book this tour and enjoy :)
A word of advice, don't eat too much for lunch. There is plenty to eat during the tour.

Miki was an amazing tour guide for our last night in China. We had booked the sunset Xitang tour, and she also added a stop at another less-developed water village, Jinze, where we rode a boat through the canals, and had a snack of delicious crab and wonton soup. Then on to Xitang. It is a gorgeous combination of bridges, canals, alleys and plenty of colorful lights! She had the perfect balance of showing us the interesting sights there, and allowing us time to explore on our own. She knew all the best photo spots, and even took lots of pictures of us, which she sent us after the tour. The six-course dinner was fabulous, and we ended the night at a karaoke bar where she entertained us, and we made new friends when we sang an English song. I would recommend Miki's tours for EVERYONE visiting Shanghai! It was definitely the highlight of our visit!!!

We lived for 6 years in Shanghai. Back visiting we decided to have one day where someone else did all the organizing and we just followed along. We had seen all the usual water towns but had not heard of Xitang so we booked the evening tour (also a good idea in summer because it's so hot!).
Miki tours were great. They were quick to respond, payment was easy (Paypal), and just a few days before our tour, they let me change from Saturday to Sunday which was awesome. Zoe, our guide, showed up at our hard to find apartment on time with a huge brand new luxury Mercedes bus to take our family of five to Xitang. Xitang is the nicest water town I've visited - it's not as crowded as the others as it's a bit further out. Especially after dark, it's really nice to wander around and take a boat trip. It's really nicely lit up. Zoe bought us some nice gifts and we had lots of food and beer at dinner. We never felt rushed, we could go at our own pace. Zoe was knowledgeable on the history of Xitang and the Pearl River Delta in general.
Overall a fantastic trip. We'll be planning another trip next time we are back in china.

The Sunset Tour was an experience I will always remember thanks to the passion and personal touch Miki puts in to making her guests have a great time. I totally recommend Miki Tours. We were lucky enough to have Miki the owner of her tour company. Starting with a huge and luxurious bus for the 6 of us arriving early. On the drive out from Shanghai city, Miki was so informative about the history of Shanghai and other parts of China. I want to write all the things we did throughout the day but that would spoil it, as there was one enjoyable moment after another. You are well fed, well watered and well looked after all day & night. Xitang Village is unique and loved walking through the alleys of shops, bars and other businesses but also enjoying an amazing meal at a personally selected restaurant by Miki. Food was delicious. We continued to walk thru the village, getting lessons about the area before ending up at Miki's Bar and she surprised us once more!! It was a fantastic day, so organised, so passionate and Miki is such an impressive woman. Could not rate her and the tour more highly.

I booked only an afternoon trip to Xitang so i didn't expect too much because i have been to Zhujiajiao few years ago. I just wanted to see different kind of water village.
But beyond my expectatiion, Mary, our guide, organized the trip perfectly.
Our trip started at 2:30 pm in the middle of the city. She was kind enough to come up to 5th floor of the Corso como to pick us up! On the way to Xitang, she gave us compact explanation of Shanghai.
At Miki's sister's beautiful tea house, we had the delicious chicken soup and home
made dumplings. We all loved to be there!!!
Xitang was quite different from Zhujiajiao. The atomosphere was lively. We looked around the town and took hundreds of pictures. Mary was also a great photographer. Then She took us to a bar where she sang a song playing guitar. She was multi-talented!
It was beautiful to see the Xitang in red lights . We had dinner afterwards and headedback to our Hotel.
Miki tour is so well organized and Mary's enthusiasm was contagious. It was a impressive tour.
We all cherished the time there!

Before leaving for Asia we went on Trip Advisor to check out the top 10 things to do in Shanghai. We were going to be traveling with another couple so sent them a list of our top 3 choices, with Miki Tours being our first choice. Together we decided to book with Miki Tours. Prior to leaving the U.S. we had communicated with Miki Tours and received the most gracious and PROMPT response. Our tour was supposed to begin at a hotel in Shanghai, however we were on a cruise ship, so our traveling companions contacted Miki Tours to see if there was a way that we could be picked up at the Cruise Terminal. They were completely accommodating and we had exchanged phone numbers and tested it through WhatsApp which worked beautifully. Also, texting worked well! While on board ship, we met another couple that was interested in doing the tour as well so we contacted them to see if it would work to add 2 others. Again, they accommodated our request!
When we arrived in Shanghai our precious guide, Zoe Zhao, was there with a sign with our names on it. She picked us up promptly at 10:00am and we knew immediately we were in for a treat. Smart, chic, totally knowledgeable, and shared stories with the 6 of us on our 1 1/2 hour drive to the water village country side. The water village is like a place where time has stood still (yet with some modern conveniences like running water, toilets and electricity). The area itself is doing basically the same thing that has been done for the last 600 years!!! They are artisans and fishermen and everywhere you looked there was a "Kodak" moment! The gentleman that put us on his small river boat that he paddled standing up with a single oar in the rear of the boat and the stories he shared made for a personal and memorable time. It was quiet, peaceful and your cares just drifted away.
We reached our destination and got off the boat, profusely thanking this kind gentleman! Miki has a sister that lives in the village and we were going there for lunch. We were the only ones there and were treated to a 12 course lunch where every course was better than the last!! Thinking we could not even move we were so full we were not done yet! We went upstairs to a tea room and Zoe explained and performed a tea ceremony. There is such symbolism with every aspect - even down to the temperature of the water, and the fresh young tea leaves made for the most delicious tasting tea ever (Lipton - eat your heart out!!)
If that weren't enough, we then got back into the Mercedes Van and drove to an area that is famous for their strawberries and had a strawberry picking experience - eating more than we picked, of course. They were SO red, SO ripe and SO delicious it makes my mouth water just remembering!
Not done yet!! We drove again in the comfort of the van to Xitang Water Village. It was amazing and much more 'commercial' than our 'private' water village experience. There were interesting shops and artisans still doing their crafts. Zoe showed us where Tom Cruise was running on the roof tops in Mission Impossible 3. So much fun to be able to be in the exact place where the movie had been filmed.
We went to a friend of Miki's restaurant right on the canal and have never had better pot stickers and buns. Everything we did was relaxed, comfortable, professional, entertaining, amazingly interesting and memory making.
The 6 of us concurred that as much as we have traveled and as many tours that we have been on, this was, without a doubt, the BEST TOUR EVER. Zoe was at our disposal every step of the way and you could tell that her MAIN PURPOSE was to make SURE we had enjoyed ourselves.
We hope Miki realizes what a gem she has in Zoe and her attentiveness to detail and eagerness to make sure we were getting the BEST experience. She was always ready to show us the BEST spots for picture taking and was willing to capture the moments of us and with multiple cameras!! She gave of herself far beyond our expectations.
It's a shame that there are only 5 stars to rate this company. We would prefer to give them a SOLID 10! THANK YOU, ZOE and MIKI, for your amazing tour company. We wish you ALL LIFE'S BLESSINGS and SUCCESSES.
With gratitude,
Carol and Bob Shimp

A wonderful day with Mary of Miki Tours. Delicious food, a peaceful gondola ride, more food, the delightful craziness of Xitang, a private concert, and more food. This is a must do tour and do ask for Mary.

My group is here for business so we were thrilled to find an evening tour that we can take from Shanghai after the business day. Miki is the easiest guide, flexible, full of great information and created many experiences in one evening. My colleagues are STILL talking about how this was one of the top tours and best sites they have ever experienced. There is a 1+ hour ride out of the city in a comfortable AC vehicle - it is worth it to see rural China. We took over 100 pictures, had fun failing at creating the perfect dumpling, heard a sitar played with a local meal, tea tasting with Miki who is a tea expert and a wine tasting. There is a boat ride in the water town which is a similar experience to the gondolas in Venice. This was so beautiful and fun, everyone raved about Miki and we laughed many times. What a fantastic evening. Highest regards for this tour and Miki. Definitely book it.

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Communication was quick and easy. Miki is friendly, funny and full of information - it felt like having a good friend show us around. Perfectly paced tour, with time for strolling. Most incredibly, Miki managed to make the entire tour gluten free - snacks, dumplings, and dinner out. We were delighted with how this tour went, and cannot thank Miki enough. A truly wonderful day.

Very good private tour with driver and guide. Just myself and husband. Calm afternoon boat ride at Jinze followed by dumplings and tea in a private home. Then excellent walking tour around Xitang as the light faded, the coloured lights came on and the town came alive. Live music everywhere (sometimes too much!) and souvenir shops plus small restaurants galore. Probably less touristy than other water towns during the day.
