It was awesome, the food was delicious and even though I had already been all over China for two weeks, I still got to try one or two dishes that were new to me. We also tried some Chinese teas and fruit. Our guide Patrick spoke excellent English and it felt like spending the evening with a friend group rather than a tour :)

We had a fantastic experience with Jim on the Shanghai food tour. The highlights were the Xiao Long Bao, noodle dish, afternoon tea, and the fruit market. Jim was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the food and Shanghai’s history, and made this experience a great 3 hours. We considered sightseeing around the Bund for our free day, but I’m glad we decided to go with the food tour. We highly recommend this experience!

This was an excellent walking tour with the opportunity to sample some of Shanghai's best local foods (and teas). The hosts were both very knowledgeable and keen to share their passion for Chinese foods and culture. Highly recommended if your time is short and you wish to sample a wide range of local foods and gain an introduction to local customs and history.

A nice walk through Shanghai with tasting the local dishes, tea, fruit and alcohol! Our guide was Jim and he spoke such great English and answered all of our questions whether it was about food or about Shanghai’s culture or history! Lovely way to learn about Shanghai ! 😊

We had booked the Shanghai Food Tour for our first day in Shanghai, which was the perfect decision. Jade, our tour guide, took us to different restaurants and showed us and explained the typical dishes of Shanghai and gave us some historical background information about Shanghai. I can only recommend everyone to start their Shanghai trip with a tour at Shanghai Foodies.

Wow. This was our first time in China (me and my wife) and this was the first thing we did. It was truly awesome. We had Patrick as our guide and there were also 2 other awesome people on our tour. He took us to some great local spots that we wouldn’t have otherwise visited, gave us insights into traditional Chinese cuisine, a great tea tasting experience and also, wonderful conversations. I can’t say enough about Patrick and this tour, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai, especially if it’s your first time.

Jade and Jim were so welcoming and took us to some fantastic family owned authentic local food restaurants, great atmosphere and fantastic local knowledge past on to us as foreigners would highly recommend

We loved the tour and our guide Jade was fantastic! She showed us really good and authentic Shanghai restaurants were the food and drinks were amazing, she gave us a very nice overview of the Shanghai cuisine and also showed us curious dishes. Jade really cared about our food preferences and customised the menu accordingly, she also explained some history of Shanghai city on our way to the restaurants. It was an excellent tour, would recommend it.

I like going on food tours in new cities, and Shanghai Foodie looked like the most authentic option available. Jim, the owner of Shanghai Foodie and my guide, was incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We went to a variety of different places, including restaurants, a tea shop and a fruit market. Jim is a Shanghai native, and had a great rapport with the staff everywhere we went. Everything that we tried was very tasty, and Jim did a great job of explaining both the history of the food and the city. There were many places that I would have never discovered on my own and you can tell that Jim put a lot of thought into curating the experience. I would highly recommend Shanghai Foodie to anyone who wants an authentic and non-touristy experience.

Fantastic tour. Highly recommend. This was a wonderful way to spend our first night in Shanghai. Jim created a great experience, the food was fantastic and Jim balanced great food with cultural experiences. It was hard to pick a favourite. The tea ceremony was especially interesting. If you come to Shanghai this is a must do!
