Chine-Eastern Airlines absolutely abhorrent!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
This China Eastern airlines is awful… we flew from Schiphol to Sydney, then return Sydney to Schiphol - NEVER AGAIN!! Only 1 of the 4 flights had a toilet with soap, the planes were freezing cold, smelled of vomit & toilet, & the food wasn’t fit for my dog!! The worst was lack of understanding of English - staff only spoke Chinese! When we asked at various points for soap they didn’t understand, had to show them in the toilet & even then they thought we meant antibac! If you like pork-rice or chicken-noodles thats great, cos youll get them dinner & breakfast!! Absolutely no wine or spirits but you can have a budweiser beer - doesn’t make sense!! Entertainment nil for English speakers, take your own!

Relaxing airport lounge with great food
Visit the lounge on Wednesday 3-5 pm. Very Classical Chinese decoration with spacious waiting hall. The seats are comfortable and big with charging facilities. Around 50% occupancy with lot of choice in seat. The food is amazing with made to order noodle counter, dim sum, hot dishes with Chinese cuisine. I didn’t give 5 stars as the choice of wine is poor. Coffee and soft drinks are reasonable.

      A Standard Priority Pass Lounge
The No.77 China Eastern Lounge is located at terminal 2, right before the train to the G wing of the terminal. It is a small, standard lounge can be visited by priority pass members. During our visit, the lounge is not busy, and there is ample seating available. The lounge food is standard, but adequate.

      Clean but poor selection
Poor selection og food and drinks. I found some Yesterday-made sandwiches and some crackers and nuts. The two wines were not drinkable, thus a cold beer was consumed in stead. However very clean especially in the restrooms.

      Wow what a dump!
Mostly shut off, I expect for a refurb, or else it’s just too downright shoddy to be used. Tiny selection of drinks in one fridge, some very sad looking sandwiches. Small selection of hot food motorway service standard. Did boil fresh noodles with some Luke warm toppings. Overall description of “Tired” would be over selling it. Not sure when other photos of this were taken but not recent . Wifi password instructions on dog eared paper sign sellotaped to the wall don’t work. My God this place is bad. Considering upgrading to Burger King in the terminal.

      Lovely experience
Booked No 77 lounge via Priority Pass on a recent trip to Shanghai. Was pleased with the whole experience whilst in the lounge. The food selection wasn't huge but the quality of what was on offer was amazing. They had a noodle bar which was great fun. All in all a lovely 2 hours and our plane left from Gate 77, so it was so convenient too. Great views og the planes. Well recommended.

Great airport, definitely go and visit Shanghai for a bit if you have time!
After reading reviews, I was worried how I would navigate around this airport but it was really easy. We had a 7hr 40 min layover so we put our hand luggage into a locker and hopped on the Maglev train and then opted for a cab rather than tube to continue the journey into Shanghai. Shanghai was amazing and vibrant (we visited early eve) and we thoroughly enjoyed our whistle stop tour. Back in good time for our connecting flight onto NZ!

Beige and Brown resulting in a frown.
Reminiscent of a 70s 747 interior that had been washed in a bath of nicotine. Top of the bottom rung as far as lounges go. Ambience of a waiting room at a pet cemetary. We're we fed and watered? Yes. Was it better than a KFC at the gate,? Debatable. Selection of stock generic rice/noodle/bao available with tepid drink on tap. If I'd paid for the pleasure, I'd have been severely disappointed.

Take a hot shower when waiting for transit
It’s perfect to take a hot shower when waiting for transit. If you hold platinum credit card, you may enjoy 15 minutes free massage as well. If you can access different lounge at the second floor near gate 40, you can enjoy the shower.

Very good massage but terrible hospitality
I have visited this place and have to say the “welcoming” staff is not welcoming at all, the lady at reception couldn’t even bother to smile, something i havent expect considering high standards that American Express services provide. However the massage was incredibly good

Massage Overpriced and Sub Par Facility
Was at the airport for a long layover- so decided to stop off here for a massage- The purpose of a massage is to relax - and now I understand why they made me pay in advance. The product they provide is a crowded room with no music and 2 other chairs jammed in the room. Part of the way through my massage some guy comes in and starts talking away- kind of blows the relaxation factor. Also you could hear the woman at the front desk arguing with a client- she probably was not happy either. Again kind of ruins the ability to relax. Finally they set a countdown timer with an alarm worse than an alarm at motel 6. This place needs to understand why people pay for a massage- to relax!! Very disappointed with this experience. Thanks! Doc!!

      Needs an upgrade
My flight was at 1.30 am, so I had no choice but to use this lounge. It needs an upgrade for the chairs, the food and the drinks. It was full and some passengers had no chairs. The chairs need urgent reupholstering or better still change all of them. The food was mediocre and the drinks were basic. I think that since the new Beijing airport will be opening soon, they have neglected to refurbish this lounge. This review will be redundant for future travellers.

      Welcoming and Comfortable
At check in the receptionists were nice, friendly and spoke good English. A nice amount of variety of hot Chinese cuisine and continental style of snacks. Variety of alcohol if that's your flavor. The decor is warming and very nice, with a little fountine / pool with some fish. Plenty of room to sit and stretch out comfortably without disrupting anyone or being disrupted. We were here when it wasn't busy so it was peaceful, which made a relaxing 9hr layover. Refresh yourself with taking a shower. If passing through Beijing again, I will definitely return.

      Very Clean and Functional
We had a long stopover in HK, and hired a family room. The rooms we functional and very clean - especially the toilets and bathroom. The beds were comfortable with firm mattresses which suited us. I did find that sound did come thru the walls, and they provided us with complimentary ear plugs which were ideal. This hotel is very useful to have a short rest for long transits.

      Only go if free
This is a terrible lounge. If you’ve got free access fair enough but no reason to pay into this. The best food are pot noodles. If you paid cash you’d cry. It’s that bad. Better off taking your money and sitting in a restaurant.

Could best be described as a conveyor of ChinSlop! Tasteless, congealed pork and chicken ‘dishes’ unsuitable for westerners. 3 types of sandwiches for foreigners: tuna, cucumber, or chicken - you’d be pushed to find the fillings!

We had a 4 hour stopover in the China Eastern lounge on the 5th floor. Seemed pretty decent. Staff were polite and helpful, limited English but enough for the role. The showers were great. We had to wait a little (30 min) for the showers - the reception took our photo and came to find us when we got to our turn. Limited selection self service alcoholic beverages including beer and wines. In fridge but no ice for drinks. Mixed Chinese and western food. Noodle bowls cooked fresh to order. Not gourmet but perfectly acceptable Spacious and not crowded. Comfortable chairs. WiFi available but a lot of sites blocked (in fact most of the ones I use). - presumably a Chinese government thing)

Lounge 36 at Pudong Terminal 1 is a shared lounge, including Delta Sky Priority. The catch for getting access for some of the partner airlines is that you have to pick up a voucher at your airline's checkin counter. If you check in online, in this case Virgin Atlantic, and expect to get access with you digital boarding pass, you will be denied access. Day was saved by an awesome gate agent for Virgin who stopped what she was doing and walked us back upstairs to set things straight.

Lounge itself is very disappointing. Worn out chairs, simple tables, limited Western food choices, if any.

The lounge I booked was closed. It was an absolute nightmare, I was sent to another lounge which was yet another disaster !! The voucher wouldn't load as Gmail doesn't work in China. I was told I had to pay again. If it wasn't for one lady it would have been a total disaster.

The place felt like a sauna and the drinks were not cold. The kindest thing I can say about the staff is they were actively disinterested in customer service. Try anywhere else before here. While spoken English is an issue in most places, v36 staff just weren’t interested.

In transit with China eastern to bangkok from london. Found that Shanghai airport have hot and cold water dispensers. Took a couple of 3in1 coffee sachets with me and found pot noodles available at most shops. Saved a few pounds.

    Staff need training.
Tried to access the Business Lounge in Shanghai Pudong international airport. We are Virgin Platinum members so through the partnership with Singapore Airlines we get to access all the Star Alliance lounges when we fly with Singapore Airlines.
Not at this lounge. They flatly denied any relationship between Singapore and Virgin, even though our tickets had Platinum status printed on them.
Very poor service. Our only consolation was reading other reviews which say how terrible the lounge is.

For priority pass holder, Shanghai Pudong airport has good lounge option. If you are departing international at T1, the option is VIP lounge 39 or VIP lounge 135B (if you need to ride a train to the gate at H120). VIP lounge 39 is at the 2nd floor right after security clearance. If you are departing domestically, the option is VIP lounge 9 or VIP lounge 120. VIP lounge 9 is next to gate 9, you need to go through gate 9 or 10 to reach the lower level of the lounge. VIP lounge 120 is next to gate H120 in H101-H119 area.

Though the lounge display both priority pass and plaza premium sign, depending on your credit card, the plaza premium option may not work. Most likely, you should use the Priority Pass option to access the lounge.

During our visit of the VIP lounge 39 in mid January, 2024 and VIP lounge 9 in late February 2024, both lounge has ample seats available. An afternoon quick meal was served before 5pm, and evening meal of 4 hot dishes, ready made noodle and small wonton are served (yummy). The are also ample milk, coffee, and bottled drink option.

The rest room is clean, with Toto auto toilet seat.

These are good airport lounges to wait for your flight.
