      A true journey through Kolkata
Can’t begin to express how wonderful our day in Kolkata was thanks to Kolkata Story Tours and our guide Kaushik. We learned so much, including many lesser known details that would be missed by many guides, in addition to experiencing an insiders look of the city. Kaushik truly took us on a journey through Kolkata’s history through storytelling and was focused on our comfort and interest at all times.

      Excellent
Kaushik was a most caring and informative host and guide. He showed us areas of Kolkata that we would have not seen on our own which we particularly valued including small quirky features of the city and its past. His knowledge and perspective were fascinating and generously shared.

      A Walking Tour of Value
This was a fabulous private walking tour exploring the real Kolkata. The tour was an explosion on the senses; smells, sights, sounds and a real experience that is worth doing. The walk was hot and humid. We explored the back alleys, the many temples and religious places of worship all near each other. This was supported by Kaushiks excellent narration, he knows hus history. It was well worth doing. The flower market was very interesting, learning about the journey of the flowers to the market, observing how each seller chooses their niche in the floral market, and the beauty that shines through in the busy, bustling market area. We finished the walking tour in a bus, an experience! If you have watched the roads, being right in the flow of it in a bus, bouncing around, was a fun way to conclude tour. I felt safe, supported, entertained and educated. Thank you.

      Tour of a Lifetime!
I cannot begin to say enough flattering things about K.C. and his Kolkata Story Tours. I am American and was visiting Kolkata for the first time and he was the true cherry on our vacay sundae. 1. His car was clean, comfy and had great AC which was amazing because it was the beginning of summer season and crazy hot. 2. He had a relaxed vibe and was all about catering to where we wanted to visit but was able to throw in extra stops to maximize our experience. K.C. is incredibly personable. We never felt awkward or uncomfortable. 3. His knowledge of the area was impressive and he shared in depth information about the history of not just Kolkata but India as a whole. 4. He was kind and a true joy to spend a day with. K.C. was genuinely interested in our Kolkata tour. He even drove us by his office to check out the mongoose family that lives in the grove behind the building. I highly recommend booking tour with Kolkata Story Tours. 11/10 You won’t regret it.

      Amazing experience!
KC (Kaushik Chatterjee) was an exceptional guide as he shared Kolkata with our family. Our day started at the flower market followed by chai tea along the Ganges river, a tour through areas of theater, music, arts, and academics all while learning about the fascinating history and culture of the Kolkata and India. KC was always attentive to the needs of our group and coordinated with our schedule. Having a personal guide who shared not just knowledge but a love and passion for his home left us with our own special bond to Kolkata.

Kolkata Story Tours with KC made our trip!
We have been on city tours all over the world, and the two days we spent with KC (Kaushik Chatterjee) are at the top of the list for best tours. KC did two separate days of custom tours for us and both were amazing. KC took the time to understand what type of things we wanted to see/do, and in what manner (air conditioned private car vs. public transportation like bus, ferry, tram) we preferred to get around (we did it all). From there he constructed two delightful experiences. KC is very knowledgable about Kolkata and its history, and is able to explain things in a way that is interesting yet easy to understand. KC is professional but still warm and friendly. You will be missing out if you don’t connect with KC and Kolkata Story Tours on your next trip to Kolkata.

      Brilliant!
We are living in Southern India for the year and had some time at Christmas to travel. We spent a day and a half with Kaushik as part of a very busy itinerary and it was it was one of the most fascinating parts of our trip. We had an issue with our flight which meant we arrived later than anticipated, Kaushik was very accommodating, starting the tour slightly later and organising to spend part of the next day with us which was not initially planned. My husband is very interested in history and I love street food, Kaushik incorporated both of these into our tour, also showing us the ‘real’ Kolkata, we travelled by numerous methods of public transport and retraced some of the steps of Saroo in the film Lion. If you want to do more than just tick the tourist boxes, and really understand the city we would thoroughly recommend Kolkata Story Tours.

Unique travel connecting past and present
I had taken a customized day long trip, accompanied by about 8 guests who were visiting Kolkata (and India) for the first time. I should refer to our tour guide rather as a storyteller - he is very knowledgeable about the history of even every minor topic on Kolkata and the evolution of Kolkata to Calcutta to Kolkata again, over 4 centuries. The visitors were highly impressed. I should mention Mr Kaushik Chatterjee specially - he was always very respectful of the needs of the visitors. He had his unique style of humor, history and flexibility which made the tour truly enjoyable and something to remember. If you are looking to really know Kolkata, give Kolkata Story tours a call.

      Amazing, fulfilling experience! Must try
Highly recommended! Kaushik's love for the city is very evident from the breadth and depth of his knowledge. A tour with him is a real treat for the curious tourist, who loves to go beyond the mere 'selfie clicking' ritual most tours follow.

      Insight into the real Kolkata
Communication with Kaushik was straight forward, he replied to all our questions with a prompt reply and worked out our customised tour in the best way, including all sights we were interested in. He picked us up at the agreed meeting point on time, and off we were on a fantastic day tour - including all sights we planned to see, using all forms of public transport (Kaushik offers the tour also with private A/C vehicle but we preferred to use public transport). At no point did Kaushik try to skip a place, and / or to drag us into tourist / souvenir shops. Kaushik is not the "normal" tourist guide but a person deeply interested in history, highly educated and well read, and willing to share his immense knowledge and love for Kolkata with you. He speaks excellent English, is very polite and also entertaining, sharing interesting stories along the way. The hours flew in, trying tasty street food, visiting so many places, sharing stories, pointing out details we would have never noted ourselves .... a day highly recommended for first timers and repeat visitors of this interesting town. Would always book him again if we return!

Magical, indeed mesmerising, tour of Kolkata! A must do
As a female, solo traveller I was nervous about exploring Kolkata and Kaushik made coming to Kolkata worth it! He made the city come to life as we explored colonial buildings, flower markets and old Kolkata streets with stories, anecdotes and a superior eye for detail. I felt safe and reassured with Kaushik in a city that can feel at times complex to navigate. It was a delightful tour, and I loved every minute which was customised to visit the places I wanted to see and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely 5*

A Great Way To Get To Know Kolkata
We spent two and a half days with Kaushik. It was time and money exceptionally well spent. I would have no hesitation in recommending Kaushik to anyone wanting to see and 'experience' Kolkata. Prior to our arrival we were asked if we had any specific preferences about how we wanted to spend our time in the city. Kaushik was responsive to our wishes, and as our time with him proceeded he quickly became very perceptive in making suggestions that he thought might be to our interests. We travelled by foot, auto-rickshaw, taxi, uber, bus, tram, metro. Throughout the time with him we felt entirely comfortable with Kaushik travelling, chatting and learning about the city.

      Amazing Story!!
What the caption of the walk doesn’t say is the passion and lucidity with which the stories are narrated at an ambling pace sprinkled with interesting and humorous tit bits and anecdotes that helps one enjoy and absorb the moment and one’s being. Kaushik Chatterjee is a master storyteller who cooks the walk with the right proportion of colonial history, politics, economics and sociology that leaves one with the same feeling as one is expected to have after a delicious bengali meal without of course the customary belch also known as the ‘dhekur’. While we walked further into a fine Kolkata morning we actually travelled back to its origin, it’s conflicts and it’s romance … essentially it’s journey from Calcutta to Kolkata. Apart from being a wonderful storyteller Kaushik is also a very warm and caring person always wanting to go that extra yard to make your trip a little more memorable. He is the kind of person with whom one starts off as a co-walker and ends up being a friend. I still owe him a 100 Rupees which I’m keeping for memory and in hope that we shall meet again. It is by far the best way you could spend a morning in Kolkata. Go for it!!

Thanks to Kaushik we ended up spending an outstanding morning in the streets of Kolkata. His knowledge about every nook and corner of this city is surreal, his style of narrating is unique and his ability to connect the dots between history, geography and sociology simply stands out.
We saw the city with his eyes and saw it like I have never seen it before. Same streets that I have bustled through during my youth visiting one office from another suddenly seemed to come alive as he explained the genesis and showed us evidences of his theory.
Given his tight schedule and multiple preoccupation I am not sure how many of you can avail this walk but if you can manage to book this in advance please do not miss the opportunity.
KOLKATA will stand out in your eyes

We took an exceptional walking/driving tour with Kaushik C. His normal tour is nearly 4 hours. Recognizing that some of our team members may not be able to walk for that long, he modified it for us.

He is exceptionally knowledgeable not just about the city but the broader context of the city’s role in Indian and British history.

He is a great story teller which made the tour a lot of fun.

    Highly recommended.

We went for a Walking Tour with Kaushik Sir. It was my first Walking tour and I never imagined it could be so much fun and learning. We saw the sights and these were linked with stories and anecdotes about how the City came to being, how the British built it up and how Kolkata became a power center of the British Empire. It was an evenly paced tour and in the very beginning we reconciled that we would not do any tick marking stuff but enjoy whatever we could in the span of 3 hours approximately. What a wise decision that turned out to be. Kaushik Sir was a patient, passionate and extremely engaging story teller. I really enjoyed the walk, made some friends with fellow tourists, had cups of chai and now look forward to doing his many other tours. Thank you so much Sir!

Going for a heritage walk from Esplanade to Dalhousie Square, ending at the iconic GPO Kolkata with Mr. Kaushik Chatterjee, was a captivating journey through Kolkata's Raj Era historical heart. Kaushik’s intense knowledge and infectious enthusiasm brought the city’s rich past come alive, making every step feel like a walk through history. His storytelling, peppered with fascinating anecdotes, painted a vivid picture of Kolkata's colonial legacy and cultural depth. The tour was well-paced, insightful, and included delightful chai stops, enhancing our experience. For anyone looking to deeply connect with Kolkata's heritage, tours with Mr. Koushik Chatterjee are highly recommended for his many offerings. A truly enriching and must have experience!

My tour of Kolkata was an incredible experience. I was thoroughly impressed by how Kaushik Sir explained every detail with such clarity and passion. Despite being a native of West Bengal, I realized how little I knew about my own region. His storytelling made everyone feel welcome and guided us through the history and culture of Kolkata. Kaushik Sir's warmth and expertise transformed the tour into an unforgettable journey, leaving us all with a deeper appreciation of this vibrant city.

KC was amazing. The best 4 hours in Kolkata.
His depth of knowledge of the buildings in old Kolkata was incredible. His eye for detail and the stories he told brought alive what was a rich and colourful past.
He is a caring and attentive guide and a great ambassador for his city, its past and present.
I can't recommend a walking tour with Kolkata Story Tours highly enough.

Kaushik Sir was a very humble, knowledgeable and patient person and guided us with wonderful anecdotes, stories and sights. He goes beyond the normal definition of guides and I would think of him as a treasure house of little gems about the city of Kolkata. The Tour involved Walking, cups of fresh hot Chai, standing in front of incredible locations which otherwise you will surely miss and have stories come alive. There was no hurry to wind up and on our particular tour we did a lot. However, a still lot of things left to see. Reserving for our next tour because I love not doing things fleetingly. Very highly recommended
