Highly recommended- a real treat. Informative, fun and interesting. Great stories bring it all to life!
The tour was amazing - our guide was the wonderful Lakshmi. Her storytelling really brought to life the complexity of the religion at Kapaleeshwarar Temple. she was friendly, helping us understand what was allowed and not inside the complex. Listening to her storytelling was so much more engaging with the. We loved the TukTuk ride through the crowded and noisy streets to the cathedral and back to the mess for a wonderful dosa breakfast.

      Engaging storytelling private tour
The tour with Lakshmi was amazing - she is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Her storytelling was very engaging. She explained in appropriate details the cultural and spiritual importance and background of Hinduism and the temple. The St Thomas cathedral and ossuary stop was very informative. I also enjoyed the short auto trip between the temple and the cathedral. I hope to come back to Chennai and take other tours with Storytrails.

Beautifully curated, super informative and fun tour
Lakshmi is a natural born storyteller - original, honest, generous and brave - and the most beautiful person. The Peacock Trail offers a thoughtfully curated introduction to Hindu religious and social history, traditions and contemporary life that fits perfectly against the backdrop of the magnificent Kapaleeswarar Temple and surrounding Mylapore. Like sitting at the feet of an elder, Lakshmi's delivery is just so effortless that it was only in hindsight that I realised just how much was shared and how much I've gained. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and wished for more time in Chennai to further explore the rest of the Storytrail offering.

Bazaar Trail Walking Tour Chennai - Fascinating tour
It was an excellent walking tour to provide many interesting unknown details about the shops, the merchants and their goods, and the buildings. Lakshmi was a wonderful guide and I enjoyed the guided tour, though it was hot and stuffy, it was an exciting afternoon.

Very informational and full of hidden gems. Will recommend
I did this tour in August 2022, it was hot and sweaty, but the evening experience was worth it. We started with Kapaleeshwara temple in Mylapore and ended at Ratna Cafe for delicious snacks. The guide was very informational and shared many hidden gems. Will recommend.

      Storytrails - great tour guides
I do not post many reviews but I really wanted to say how incredible the Storytrails team are. I had a tour in Chennai and one in Madurai with separate guides and both were briliant. Knowledgeable, interesting and infinitely patient (I asked a LOT of questions) the guides made the tours both fun and informative. I really cannot recommend them highly enough. Nick

      Fun facts and informed insight!
We can't speak highly enough of this tour. Lakshmi is an engaging, knowledgeable and highly skilled guide; she imparts her knowledge in a fun and accessible way. We learned so much about the market, it's people and history and the goods on sale without feeling lectured. Stories are a brilliant way of immersing you in a culture, and by the end of the tour we felt we had properly experienced a little bit of India thanks to this delightful guide and excellent itinerary.

One of the highlights of our travels in India
We undertook both the food trail and the Peacock trail with Lakshmi and had a wonderful time. Storytelling is such a fabulous way to learn about a culture - and fabulous stories they were too. We would recommend BOTH tours.

      Wonderful feel of the bazaar
Lakshmi is so charming and knowledgeable! We learned all about the the bazaar, the many amazing spices and vegetables, the buildings and met many people along the way.. She took great care of us so we didn't slip in the street or get trampled by the astounding traffic - we are old hands at the honking and the aggressive driving, but Lakshmi helped keep us safe.

      I heart Storytrails!
I've taken this tour 3 times over the last 5 years during various business trips to Chennai and I loved everyone of them! Lakshmi is a fantastic story teller, delivering an engaging history of the temples and surrounding area of Mylapor. If all of the tours they offer are like this one, you can expect an engaging experience.

Marvellous Mylapore……. A tour so easy to enjoy and hard to forget!!!
When my wife booked the “Peacock Trail” tour, I went along, expecting it to be one of those many walking tours, that we have taken in the past. But nothing prepared me for what followed. Lakshmi our Tour Advisor, met us punctually at the appointed time and explained the programme. We were all very impressed by her friendly and pleasant demeanour and quite taken up by the way she took us through the tour. Her deft storytelling , recounting of fascinating facts and trivia, interspersed with interesting anecdotes, had us all hanging on to her every word !!! She answered all our queries patiently and clearly and cleared the air on many aspects and practices, that we were not aware of, or just followed, without really realising the true significance. In short Lakshmi was a treasure trove of information !!! Our 10 year old granddaughter who was with us simply couldn’t stop talking about the tour, much after it finished. There are many interesting places on this planet, that we might have visited, but what makes them that much more interesting and memorable, are those dedicated Tour Advisors, who take us there and guide us through, recounting the tales and trivia with such passion and pride !!! For us the Mylapore and San Thome walking tour was a one of a kind experience and we have Lakshmi to thank, for making it that much more special and unforgettable. Thank you Story Trails and keep it up!!!
