      Wonderful experience
Srividya was very friendly and attentive. She explained in detail every step of her preparation. She only used fresh, homemade products. The meal that followed was a very appreciated moment of sharing with her and his son.Thank you.

      A great experience.
I had a fantastic experience, and learnt so much about Southern Indian cooking with Srividya, who explained all about the various ingredients, spices and cooking process. I thoroughly enjoyed eating what was prepared, and chatting about the food. Srividya and her family were very friendly and made me feel very welcomed, and would definitely recommend this fun and interesting activity.

Great food and a great experience.
Meena first took me to the fruit and veg market to buy fresh, local ingredients. We then returned to her home where she taught me to cook a number veggie dishes using these ingredients. Her style of teaching is very hand on so you learn quickly. She also made me feel very welcome in her lovely home.

Interesting and informative cooking class learning skills that I will take home with me
We really enjoyed our cooking class with Kamala. She was helpful and responsive before the course so we knew we were in good hands. We learned a variety of local dishes and she was also happy to discuss others. It was very personal to have the class in her home. She also provided notes afterwards so I will be able to recreate the dishes for my family in the UK.

Thank you for a good time.
My first cooking class. Our host family welcomed us warmly. The house was very nice and clean. During the lesson, we learned the requested sambar, rasam, vada, and carrot pickle. The recipe she gave me was simple but delicious. After the lesson, we ate the food we had cooked together with our host families. He was a kind teacher who talked to us a lot even though we were not good at English and taught us until we understood it. The teacher is a very reliable person. Thank you for a good time.

      Delightful!
This was delightful! Gayathri and her husband welcomed us warmly into their home. The experience was fun and we learnt a lot. The food was delicious! The hosts are fluent in English, the kitchen is clean and they used filtered water for all the cooking, so we felt very comfortable.

An absolute highlight of our trip! 🌟
This was one of the highlights of our incredible trip to south India. We met Gayathri and Ram in their lovely home and Gayathri showed us how to prepare a vegetarian feast! She is a passionate cook and she really cooks from scratch. Her food was absolutely delicious and we will be able to make it at home. However, this was much more than a cooking class and a dinner. It was a cultural exchange. It was so interesting to meet a family who are similar to us but live such a different life. Gayathri and Ram were equally as interested in us and we talked non-stop! It really was such a wonderful experience. We did this on the last night of our trip and wish we had done it earlier! We would have definitely visited again and spent some more time and done some more cooking with this kind and welcoming family!

      Amazing dinner and experience‼︎
First of all, I would like to say that her cooking class was amazing! Even though I had a lot of requests, she kindly responded to my requests via email even before I went. During the lesson, she answered each and every question carefully, and I was able to experience many things that I would only be able to experience in her cooking class. Also, her family was very kind and wonderful, and I wanted to stay there longer. Her family sent me in front of her home, and I was moved to tears by their wonderful personalities. I highly recommend her cooking class when you come to Chennai. I will definitely visit her again next time I come to Chennai.

      Cooking
We had a really nice evening here. One comment would be that you watch, rather than participate, in the cooking which is still a good way to learn.

Nattu Kottai Tamil Chettiars cooking is worth it than Brahmins poor tasteless cooking
The captain should be Tamil Vegetarian Cooking Lessons instead it had CASTE pride and fanatism as heading. (Nattu Kottai Chetties Veg & Non Veg cooking are very famous not these caste fanatic Brahmins cooking in Tamil Nadu. Because These Nattu Kootai Tamil Chettiars are very rich and aristocratic from Ancient Tamil Sangam Period but Tamil Brahmins are supposed to beg food from others and live a simple life as per their Vedic Way of Life)

South Indian cooking lesson with excellent hospitality in central Chennai near the Hyatt and GRT Grand Chennai hotels.
Srividya and her family welcomed us into their condo-home for a cooking lesson.  A highlight of our Chennai visit. If you are curious, TRAVELING SPOON offers opportunities in many world cities. Cross-listed in Viator and TripAdvisor. We helped cook, mostly watched. We were served a beautiful meal and ate from a banana leaf "plate" with our right- hand fingers. What fun! The dishes prepared with us were: Keerai Kuzhambu (spinach steamed with tomato then finished with spices, dal in coconut oil and curry leaves) Kovakkai Perattal (a vegetable, steamed, then finished with spices, ground peanuts, and fresh grated coconut) Kuzhi Paniyaram (tiny round dumplings made with fermented dosa batter, served with chutneys and pickled mango) We gained some confidence that we might try to experience cooking these at home.  We took photos of the recipe progressions. A wonderful adventure! The home is in central Chennai near GRT Grand Chennai Hotel and the Hyatt. Uber works well for transport.
