- marypatricks0 contributionsWhen Doubting Thomas to Chennai! The tour is a very well organised one and we started at the magnificent San Thome Basilica. The architecture is mind-blowing. We next moved to Little Mount Cave. This is where St Thomas lived for a while and you can see his hand prints. The final destination is St Thomas Mount with its magnificent church. The tour was led by Kannan and it was an amazing one. I would recommend this.Written February 20, 2020

Our guide was right on time and picked us from the lobby of our hotel in a comfortable AC car. We first visited a magnificent Basilica which had the relics of the apostle Thomas himself. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us the amazing story of St Thomas and his adventures in South India! Next we visited a cave which had the actual hand prints of St Thomas. It was awesome to see 2000 year old hand prints. The church on top of St Thomas hill was the last agenda on the tour and it was excellent. This half day tour is a fantastic way to know more about the city's heritage and an interesting part of Chennai. Our guide also cleared many doubts about Doubting Thomas including how St Thomas came to be known as doubting Thomas and the origin of the phrase!

I booked this tour at the last minute and was not disappointed. Kannan was a wonderful guide. Although the plan was to see the three St Thomas sites, he made extra time to share some of his culture/ religion and show me around the Hindu Ramakrishna Temple and also the gorgeous Kapaleeshwarar Temple. We also were able to take a walk on Marina Beach which was beautiful.
I really appreciated how he listened to what I wanted to see and allowed me to set the pace in how long to stay at each place.
The driver was also excellent and I miraculously felt safe and comfortable in the car. All around it was an excellent and memorable day.

The st Thomas trial was a revelation. It was a fascinating story of how St Thomas came to Chennai 2000 years ago and introduced Christianity to this part of the world. Our guide Kannan was amazing and even showed us the 2000 year old handprints of the apostle. He regaled us with stories of St Thomas and the history of the city . Very highly recommended

Following the foot steps of St Thomas in Chennai was an incredible experience. Our guide was right on time with a comfortable car and met us in the lobby. We visited the gorgeous San Thome Basilica first. What a majestic landmark. The guide told us not only the history of the basilica but he told us about the incredible journey of St Thomas in India and what challenges he faces. We also visited St Thomas church on St Thomas mount. The most moving part for the tour was at the cave in little mount where we could still see the apostle's hand prints after 2000 years. It was a remarkable day. I would recommend this tour very highly.

All three of the Saint Thomas sites are well worth visiting. Our guide, Kansan, did an excellent job introducing the significance of the sirs and the story of St. Thomas. Beyond this, however, we also visited Marina Beach (and could have done the lighthouse had it been open). He also took us to a Hindu shrine and explained its importance. For lunch, we were introduced to South Indian rhalis (meals) and leaned the correct way to go about mixing the sauces and eating it. It was a great experience, especially since I would never have done this alone. Kennan was very personable and helped to make it a great half day (more actually). I highly recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed 'Following the footsteps of Saint Thomas ' tour . The tour guide Kanan was exceptional. He was very patient throughout the tour . He was very knowledgeable and allowed me time to pray at each church which I really appreciated. I felt very relaxed during the tour . Kanan made the tour memorable. I must acknowledge the driver as well Vignesh who was always waiting with the AC car when we were ready.

Kannan kindly extended our experience in Chennai with a visit to St Thomas cathedral and St Thomas’ tomb. His knowledge, patience and determination to show us the best of Chennai is admirable and much appreciated. An excellent excursion.

I never knew that apostle Thomas came to India! This tour was illuminating to say the least. Our guide was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. He told us about the adventures of St Thomas and how he managed to create space for a new religion in this ancient land. We saw the Magnificent basilica of St Thomas with his relics. We also saw 2000 year old hand prints of Thomas in a small cave and that was a very poignant moment. Overall, it was a very enjoyable tour indeed.

Very informative tour of St Thomas Apostle’s time in India during first century AD.
So much to see, the Christianity here is in full flow with numerous churches and schools.
The basilica of St Thomas is a stunning church with his relics underneath in the crypt.
The other sites offer a great insight into St Thomas’s presence here and offer stunning views of Chennai itself.
The guide Kannan was top class and very knowledgeable about the subject matter.
He took me for a stunning lunch showcasing the best of South Indian cuisine.
All in all, a highly recommended tour.

Following the foot steps of St Thomas was a very insightful tour. We had an excellent time listening to the 2000 old story of St Thomas. We saw the apostle's relics at the magnificent St Thomas Basilica. It was a fantastic building with spectacular stain glass work. The highlight of the tour was the opportunity to look the hand prints of St Thomas in the little cave where he was martyred. The guide was brilliant and this is a highly recommended tour for visitors to Chennai.
