About
This Chennai walk in Mylapore will demystify Hindu Gods & Temple rituals. From far, the thousands of Hindu Gods and complex rituals in temples look bewildering! Our Cultural Evangelist will demystify the reason for so many Gods and purpose of Temple rituals. Relics of St Thomas are a highlight of this walking tour in Chennai. Visit the Shrine in San Thome Basilica to see relics like a small bone of St Thomas, the head of the lance with which the Saint was pierced and an ancient painting of Our Blessed Mother. A unique aspect of this walking tour in Chennai is that it is led by a cultural evangelist who will bring alive the cultural heritage of Mylapore. The Chennai walk comes with an opportunity to savor the taste of the iconic Filter Coffee of Mylapore.

Dhanalakshmi must be the most passionate guide around. She was knowledgeable and explained the places enthusiastically. You can tell that Dhanalakshmi is very proud of her city and is very happy to show us as much as she can - she even brought us to have a quick glimpse of places that are not in the tour programme. It was definitely a morning well spent.

We had an amazing day learning about the colorful Gods of India. Kannan took us to some amazing places of worship including the Kapalleswar Temple, Ramakrishna Mutt and the San Thome Basilica. The 2 standout experiences were the colourful rituals explained to us by kannan at Kapaaleswar temple and the privilege of seeing the relics of St Thomas at the San Thome Basilica. 5 Senses Walks is a great company for culture walks as the guide or cultural evangelists as they call themselves, are knowledgeable as well as super friendly. I would highly recommend doing the Gods Of Mylapore walk. Its a great way to spend 3 hours and will change your perspective!
