About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 850jennicap0 contributionsGreat experience with a lot of historyHad an amazing time on this tour! My guide Nivi arrived at my hotel early so we could get started immediately. She had a lot of knowledge on the history of Mahabalipuram and also had interesting insights and facts about the general history of India. For the provided lunch, she gave a few options depending on how I was feeling and I appreciated that she also asked the spice level I was comfortable with so she could tell the restaurant accordingly. She also provided some food recommendations in Chennai for me during my stay. Highly recommend booking this tour to hear about the history and see some really great historical monuments. Nivi was a great conversationalist!Written October 25, 2024
- Taylor_Fun0 contributionsGreat private day tour of Chennai! We loved our private day tour with Hareesh and learned so much. He was very accommodating with our schedule and pick up/drop off locations. Our guide answered all of our questions, shared stories and was very knowledgeable about Chennai, the people, food, culture, religions and history. We saw so much in one day, temples, monestaries, churches, a museum and saw Marina beach and fishing village from the top of a tall lighthouse the view was fantastic! Our driver was great too and did a great job navigating the busy streets.Written October 24, 2024
- G7067MEellag0 contributionsAmazing Kanchipuram tour!So grateful that I booked this beautiful Kanchipuram tour! Kannan is a great guide, very professional and kind. I highly recommend to anybody who wants to learn more about the ancient temples of south india and to discover new places!Written October 23, 2024
- ria_syd0 contributionsMahalibuparam tourKhannan, our tour guide was very accommodating with changing the start time. We went to Mahalibuparam and he gave a good history of the place. When he realised that we only had that day to explore, he suggested to add one more stop in chennai which wasn't originally included in the tour. The car was comfortable too. I'm glad I went on the tour.Written October 23, 2024
- davidmC9792DY0 contributionsAn excellent immersive experienceA great tour. This was a very immersive cultural experience. We visited a Ramakrishna center, a Hindu temple, a Jain temple, and two Christian churches. I learned a lot about Chennai and India in general from my guide Kannan. He even taught me the proper way to eat a traditional Tamil lunch.Written October 23, 2024

- peediewife0 contributionsFantastic city tour experience.Fabulous tour with a wonderful driver and guide, excellent information, flexibility about dtops gor coffee and the very excellent lunchWritten October 21, 2024
- ScubaDawg970 contributionsGreat tour of outside Chennai. Great for temple visits. My guide, Jainath, and driver Anand were amazing hosts. Jainath’s English was very good. He was very good at explaining the history of things, pointing out certain intricacies. We also made two unplanned stops at an early 20th century home and then later I wanted some Filtered coffee. Get it! Somewhere! I don’t care where. It’s the best. I learned much about Hinduism and Indian culture in general. Anand made sure we got there safely and efficiently despite the craziness of driving in India. I highly recommend this tour.Written October 19, 2024
- Trail114159042760 contributionsAmazing solo trip with a very knowledgeable and caring guide !I went for my first solo trip in Chennai ( also in India) and I am so glad to have booked the Mahabalipuram trip with Five Senses Tour. Mr. Kannan Inbasekaran was my tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, caring, punctual and detailed oriented. I learned so much from him during the trip about the history of the place that I still remember. Unlike other tours, this didn't feel rehearsed and rushed. I explored at my own pace. Since I was leaving the next day, Mr. Kannan suggested that we visit the Santhome Basilica for which I'm very grateful, even though this was not a part of the itinerary. Throughout the trip, he made sure that I was well hydrated, often carrying the water bottle with him. If you book with Five Senses Tour and Mr. Kannan you won't be disappointed.Written October 19, 2024
- R3862WWirinaf0 contributionsIncredible Chennai walk experienceGreat tour, lots of very interesting information. Talked love experience with train ride. Hareesh is a true sample of excellent tour guide. He demonstrated deep knowledge of history, warm personslity and highly motivated guide who truly loves history, city of Chennai, Indian culture. - 21selwyns0 contributionsChennai Day TourEnjoyable and informative. Thanks to Ganesh for his kindness and helpful nature. He showed a good knowledge of the city and the culture. We can certainly recommend this tour to others who want a quick tour of some of the sites of this city.Written October 13, 2024
- aylink8660 contributionsWonderful Chennai experienceIt was a wonderful experience! We visit tue most important places in Chennai like Vivekananda mutt, Mylapore kabaleswar temple, Sai Baba temple, Santhome church , marina beach light house etc. and much more. I can recommend the tour to everyone!Written October 13, 2024
- Extraordinary7592140 contributionsTerrific visitExcellent tour. It went way above my expectations. Fantastic things to see. The drive isn’t too long and Kannan was full of knowledge. Nice lunch too. Recommended. (My second Five Senses tour in a week.)Written October 9, 2024
- Falcarragh130 contributionsMysteries at the Museum - in IndiaIf you have ever seen the US TV Show Mysteries at the Museum, that is kind of what you can expect from this tour. My guide, Kannan, was able to share incredible background and details about so many of the wonders I saw this past Saturday. Not just at the sites, but driving around all day, he shared great details and insights about things we were passing or were passing us. They let me sleep in the car, and then filled me in on what I may have missed. But, really, the best part was that, while people were casually walking past some amazing artifacts, Kannan had the details. There were many times other people would stand within earshot so they could hear what he was sharing. I get the impression that all of the people that work for the company are very similar to Kannan - that they take their roles as ambassadors for India very seriously. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour!Written October 7, 2024
- rchelwlk0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experience!Kannan was not only my tourguide but also a lovely travel companion for me as a solo traveler. I did the tour of Mahabalipuram and was amazed by the stories and history I was able to learn from Kannan. After seeing the beautiful architecture in Mahabalipuram, Kannan brought me to a Jain Temple and the Basilica of St. Thomas. The lunch i had was a very authentic north indian lunch - after i had already tasted the south indian meal the previois day. I am very thankful for this once in a lifetime experience!Written October 4, 2024

In every way this was an excellent tour. Hareesh was a total gentleman, polite, friendly and helpful. He was informative about the different markets, the history of Chennai and life in India. During the tour he took many photographs of me at each venue, which he sent on promptly after the tour. Our discussion about life in India resulted in a very useful book recommendation. The tour also gave a good opportunity to purchase gifts to bring home, in a wide range of prices. I was taken to a great restaurant for lunch - delicious food. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.

The flower and food markets were next level, out of this world as were the friendly people at the markets and stalls.
Lunch was a cultural experience, particularly the nettle leave dessert.
Nichee was a brilliant guide sharing his knowledge of the area and local culture.
A bucket list must do experience.

The old town areas in Bhubaneshwar - the Capital of Orissa !!
This is popularly known as BMC market. Various shops adorn the areas, selling handicrafts, daily routine items, dresses, silks , artificial jewelry etc. Hardly 10-15 minutes walk away from the railway station. You can find types of bags in a side lane.
Boyanika ( Govt of Odisha shop for handlooms et al ) is widely known. Narula sells dresses, cloths at reasonable price.
No bargaining at Boyanika, Small amount bargaining at Narula.
Was surprised the mango drink seller didn't allow me to buy a local mango - he was straight that I should buy the mango drink ( and not Mango ). In short - don't look for much of bargains in the city.
Found "Murphy Radio" prominently displayed on old market building - a childhood memory.

Guide Nivi was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to my requirements. She was flexible with the itinary, and a great companion for a solo female traveller.
Could not have asked for a better guide.
The driver was very courteous and always got out of the vehicle to open the door for you and made sure that you got out of the car safely. I felt totally safe with his driving, and was able to sit back relax and and enjoy the journey.
