Perfect way to experience Indian culture
This is a must-do in Chennai. Meena is one of the kindest people we met in India and has amazing knowledge about indian cuisine. We learned a lot during this cooking class and enjoyed amazing food 🇮🇳😋 Highly recommend!

      Wonderful Experience
It was a great experience learning from her. She contacted me immediately after I applied for the cooking class on TripAdvisor, asked me in detail what I wanted to learn, and made me feel comfortable on the day of the class. She kindly taught us how to prepare traditional South Indian dishes and the different benefits of spices. I am truly grateful to her for giving me this opportunity. I would highly recommend her cooking class not only to those who are interested in cooking but also to those who want to enjoy their stay in South India.

      great!
I learned two vegetarian dishes at her house. He taught me recipes that I can make even when I return to Japan. Ms. Julividia was very friendly and kind, and explained things carefully in a way that even those of us who are not good at English could understand. I am happy that I was able to spend this precious time with you. Highly recommended!

Lovely cooking at home experience with Srividya :)
We had a lovely evening with Srividya! She taught us delicious recipes with curry leaves that we can now make at home in Switzerland! She also taught us about Indian cuisine and culture, and we had a delicious meal at the end!

We went to Meena and it was an awesome experience. Bevor we came I told her some things I wanted to learn and she did excatly that. Besides that she also surprised uns with delicious things. She welcomed us warmly in her house and we spend a great time there cooking, talking and eating. We also went to the market, so we could by all the ingrediants for cooking the dishes at home. Having cooking fun with Meena in her kitchen
Meena took time to warmly welcome us and hear a little bit about ourselves before the cooking class began. Before our arrival in Chennai, Meena had asked us for any requests. Medu Vada was then on the list! With some preparation of ingredients before we arrived it was then time to cook the dishes. We made 4 dishes together. Meena shared her tips which you won’t find in recipe books. It was a wonderful experience to be invited into someone’s kitchen to participate and learn how South Indian food is prepared and cooked in the everyday. We’ve come away with some authentic Indian chutney recipes.

Great cooking experience where you can enjoy not only food but conversation with Meena
I truly had a great time with Meena who showed me how to cook authentic home made sambar, yoghurt rice, pan fried cauliflower and dosa. She showed me how she makes those dishes with tips, and I also get to do some of the prep works with her. Being a Japanese, I found the way those Tamil dishes are made was sometimes different from how we cook, and because Meena explained why she would prepare and cook things in certain ways, it helped me to understand the process more. And needless to say, the dishes she taught me were simply amazing with fresh, rich flavours..! And what I equally enjoyed at her place was the conversation I had with her; she, her family and relatives all lived in the neighbourhood for a long a time, and listening to stories about the neighbourhood and how she spent time there in her childhood was another thing I couldn’t have got if I didn’t come to her place. I will definitely come back to take her lesson again when I’m in Chennai again.

      A great experience.
I had a fantastic experience, and learnt so much about Southern Indian cooking with Srividya, who explained all about the various ingredients, spices and cooking process. I thoroughly enjoyed eating what was prepared, and chatting about the food. Srividya and her family were very friendly and made me feel very welcomed, and would definitely recommend this fun and interesting activity.

Great food and a great experience.
Meena first took me to the fruit and veg market to buy fresh, local ingredients. We then returned to her home where she taught me to cook a number veggie dishes using these ingredients. Her style of teaching is very hand on so you learn quickly. She also made me feel very welcome in her lovely home.

Interesting and informative cooking class learning skills that I will take home with me
We really enjoyed our cooking class with Kamala. She was helpful and responsive before the course so we knew we were in good hands. We learned a variety of local dishes and she was also happy to discuss others. It was very personal to have the class in her home. She also provided notes afterwards so I will be able to recreate the dishes for my family in the UK.

Thank you for a good time.
My first cooking class. Our host family welcomed us warmly. The house was very nice and clean. During the lesson, we learned the requested sambar, rasam, vada, and carrot pickle. The recipe she gave me was simple but delicious. After the lesson, we ate the food we had cooked together with our host families. He was a kind teacher who talked to us a lot even though we were not good at English and taught us until we understood it. The teacher is a very reliable person. Thank you for a good time.

Had an amazing experience with Sundari and her delightful husband, Krishna. We pre-selected the food we would make and experienced detailed instructions on how to prepare the dishes authentically as well as participating in person in Sundari's kitchen in her home. Needless to say, it was all delicious.

Going beyond the call of duty, Sundari took us to her local store to purchase some "essential items" at "local prices" - a fraction of the tourist rip-off prices we'd experienced elsewhere with guides, and also gave us a super recommendation for the next day (Fabindia Experience) when further shopping was undertaken.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. Sundari was a superb host before we’d even met, getting in touch by WhatsApp to make sure we had the correct location for the class. We were welcomed with a personalised drawing on the floor of her home. We then had a great session of learning the techniques behind several dishes and chatting about South Indian culture. We enjoyed a beautiful feast, great conversation with Sundari and her husband, and left with recipes as well as tips for how to spend some time in Chennai. It was a delight from start to finish, a must do in Chennai!

I give 5 stars because it was not just an unforgettable experience but I had the chance to meet such amazing human beings like Sundari and his husband. So nice, kind and warm.
Before I start I just want to mention that it was so good and delicious that I went twice in 10 days. I couldn't resist and the food was the best I ate at Chennai.

Sundari was so helpful, kind and has become a friend for life. She's an expert and a real cooking teacher. She let me record the class so that I could do the same at home. All the recipes were send to me. She adapted the menu as I wish (Vegan) :)
Everything was explained in details and she gave me alternatives too.

I had a great and unforgettable time. Next time I visit India, I'll for sure pass at Sundari.
I can recommend this great and lovely experience to anyone.

Sundari was a gracious host for our group (3 adults and 1 nine year old). We enjoyed learning some about the food and culture of this area. And the food was delicious! She is very open to personalizing the menu to your taste as well. We then enjoyed seeing a local produce market with many fruits and vegetables we’d not seen before, and to another interesting shop with all kinds of cookware (also many new things for us to see). Everything was very clean and comfortable all around. Highly recommend.

The captain should be Tamil Vegetarian Cooking Lessons instead it had CASTE pride and fanatism as heading. (Nattu Kottai Chetties Veg & Non Veg cooking are very famous not these caste fanatic Brahmins cooking in Tamil Nadu. Because These Nattu Kootai Tamil Chettiars are very rich and aristocratic from Ancient Tamil Sangam Period but Tamil Brahmins are supposed to beg food from others and live a simple life as per their Vedic Way of Life)

Incredible experience where Sundari walked us through various techniques of both the north and the south. She was flexible in catering the lesson to what we were interested in and going into details on techniques we were unfamiliar with. Highly recommend if you have time in Chennai!
