I am a regular visitor to Chennai on business and I don't often have time to be a tourist. But when a friend was in town recently we joined this tour and it was just wonderful. Our guide Akila was a passionate, natural storyteller. We came away feeling we had been comprehensively educated not just about the secrets of life in Chennai but also Hindu culture, local politics and Indian customs and traditions. It was a beautiful evening and experiencing the sun setting over the local temples and markets was very special. I loved it so much I've booked for the Bazaar tour next week!

We went with a big group on the peacock trail with our guide A/Equilla (names are quite difficult).
We had a great time. The headsets are soooo useful! The guide had great stories and we talked not just about all the temples but also living in India and Chennai in general.
All the transport and food was very well arranged (which in India is an amazing job based on all my other experiences during our 3 weeks there).
Would recommend to everybody, also her English was very easy to understand.

Dear Wouter,
Akila is fascinated by your spelling of her name - in fact, she is quite tempted to change it to Equilla! Thank you very much for your kind words - we're delighted to hear you enjoyed the Peacock Trail, the temple, and the tales of life in Chennai.
We hope to see you on more trails too!
Thanks,
Storytrails

Lakshmi was an excellent tour guide - knowledgeable, friendly, and catered the material well to our specific group. Our family walked away feeling like we had a newfound appreciation and understanding of key places in Chennai, despite all of us being Tamilians ourselves who have visited the city many times! We would recommend this tour to anyone, either a local who wants a fresh perspective on new places, or someone new looking to learn about Chennai for the first time.

We had a great time! We saw a temple, some local homes, and the remains of st. thomas. I got so much more out of hearing the background of the sites. Our guide has such a gift for providing amusing anecdotes in such a way which blended theology which the things we are seeing. Highly recommended

I had two private tours -- the peacock tour and the British colonial history (not sure of the name) tour with Lakshmi. She was an excellent guide all around -- knowledgeable, engaging, and flexible. We were able to move back and forth in our conversation between history, culture, and current events. All told, hers were among the best walking tours I've taken. I look forward to more tours in Chennai with Storytrails.

A group of three of us booked the peacock walking tour with Storytrails. Our guide Lakshmi took us around Mylapore. As the name of her company indicates, the style is to tell stories related to what we saw. Some of these were general history but most were personal or family anecdotes. One of the best things we did on this week long business trip to India. As an introduction to customs and culture in the south generally, let alone Mylapore in particular, I doubt you will find a better use of three hours!
