          Beautiful
I attended here on an escorted tour. The buildings are beautiful and the fort is situated high on the hill overlooking the houses and river below. Stunning views from the fort. Beautiful decor in the buildings. This was the highlight for me of my trip having been to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

Amer/Amber Fort - Must see. Thank you tour guide Samar
A must visit in the Jaipur/Amer region. Beautiful palace. Sam (Samar) was my english-speaking guide, and was very knowledgeable about the architecture and small details, plus took very nice photos for me. Really nice and helpful. Thanks!

          Exceptional historical marvel
Also called Amber Fort. So much history....The blue hall and mirrored hall were highlights for us. The perimeter wall looks like a mini Great Wall of China. We also saw it all beautifully lighted up in the evening after our dinner in 1135 AD restaurant - exclusive restaurant  right inside Amber Fort. Delicious  food (Thali) although the mutton had a bit too much chillie in it (subjective of course).

          Stunning location, amazing architecture.
We arrived at A ber fort towards sunset, which was amazing- the colour of the fort is stunning in the evening light, and as the fort is illuminated at dusk it gives another dimension to the decorative features. However, I would recommend that you get here much much earlier as many of the gateways/rooms (and so, 'views') are shut off in the evening. It was therefore not possible for us to explore the entire fort, and we also missed the sparkling splendour of the 'sheesh' (mirrored) areas. We could not view the lake below or take in the upper floor. Getting here earlier would have been really useful in accessing the full experience. Having said that, what we did see was absolutely amazing. The level of detail in the palaces is astounding. Views from the parapets are breath-taking. Each level offered another amazing insight into the world of the maharajas . The site is vast: walls cover the mountain tops, the old city tumbles down the mountain side to a lake below, the palace on the top floors is stunningly beautiful- views from each level of arched platforms, amaze, and the rooftop gardens are fantastic There are many forts in this area and all have much to offer, visually and historically, but Amber Fort is the jewel in the crown.

          Impressive and fascinating
This is a really impressive landmark, we had a brilliant guide who was so knowledgeable and knew the best spots to take a photograph too. Although the thought was busy, it was quite easy to move between the different chambers and different parts. Our guide had a lot of interesting anecdotes and pointed out a lot of interesting aspects that we wouldn’t have seen if we had been unaccompanied. The fault is absolutely huge and it’s very well preserved so you can still see the steam room the sauna, the bathing chambers and all of the bedrooms and freely walk around to experience the enormity of it.

          Majestic fort, beware of scams
Enjoyed our visit to this majestic fort. If you are visiting multiple places in Jaipur then buy composite ticket and you can avoid queue. Ignore jeep drivers at the entrance as you can easily walk your way up and down unless you have elderly with you. It needs 2-3 hours to explore full fort. We hired a guide but in the end it felt like it was unnecessary. Guide didn't show us full fort. One should do some research and explore on his own. Due to guide, we missed exploring the internal road connecting Jaigarh fort. Guide took us to some local village shop in the end which sells all fake items. All gems were just glass pieces, cheap metal being sold as silver and poor quality fiber filled blanket being sold as Pashmina wool made. Don't know how government is allowing cheaters to run such shops. Actually whole city is full of poor quality cheap handicraft items. Can't believe foreigners buy these at 10x price.

Majestic blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture
Amber Fort is a majestic blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture, offering panoramic views of Maotha Lake. The intricate mirror work and sprawling courtyards make it a photographer's delight. A must-visit to experience Rajasthan's royal heritage.

Huge fort with hundreds of rooms
Nice fort but a bit of a rabbit warren with so many rooms! It’s easy to get lost. The views are amazing however. There were lots of school children learning about the fort and other large groups that made it harder at times to access some areas. All in all very enjoyable. If you arrive by Tuk tuk you will have to walk 10 mins up to the fort unless you want to spend a small fortune on a 4x4 vehicle. They try and make you take the 4x4 but it’s really not far from the Tuk Tuk drop off.

          Some stunningly decorated buildings
Mirza Raja Man Singh began the construction of Amer Fort in about 1589 CE; further additions were made to the fort by his successors, right up to the mid-18th century. The fort is a beautiful, opulent one with an interesting combination of traditional Rajput and Mughal elements in its ornamentation and architectural styles. Be prepared to spend a good bit of time queuing up at Amber/Amer Fort: this is hugely popular with visitors, and on weekends and holidays it can get really crowded. Our cab driver told us that the week before we visited, he drove some tourists up to the fort and they ended up spending three hours sitting in a traffic jam leading up to the fort! Either reach early—by about 8 (when the fort opens) —or around 2 PM, when the rush eases somewhat. The climb up to the fort can be done by car, or on foot (if you’re fit enough), or even by elephant if you go in the morning: by 1 PM, the elephants are taken away. Once you’re in the fort, you enter through the highly decorated gate known as Chandra Pol (Moon Gate), which was where the commoners would enter the fort. The king would enter through the gate opposite, the Suraj Pol (Sun Gate). Beside Chandra Pol, on the inside, is the ticket counter—we paid Rs 226 for two Indian adults and one child, plus an additional Rs 200 for a guide. Inside Amer, the main attractions worth seeing are: - Singh Pol (Tiger Gate), which stands atop the wide flight of steps perpendicular to Chandra Pol; - Diwan-e-Aam, the Hall of Public Audience, of red sandstone and marble; - Ganesh Pol (Ganesh Gate), richly painted in natural vegetable dyes, perpendicular to the Diwan-e-Aam; - The enclosed ‘char bagh’ style Mughal garden - The stunning, mirrorwork palace known as Sheesh Mahal - The Zenani Deorhi, the women’s quarters, around which the maharanis had their apartments, with a pavilion in the central courtyard for them to gather for entertainment There are various souvenir shops, handicraft vendors and more inside the fort, especially near the exit; there is also a restaurant, 1135 AD, inside.

          Guide spoilt the day
When I started, I was sure to choose the audio guide. Our family being history lovers, We were looking forward for this day for a long time. We had kept an entire day for just the three forts and wanted to spend most day in Amer and end the day with Nahargarh sunset. Then came Harishankar guide. He showed us his govt approved id and told us that he was one of the few senior guides. He also mentioned that Since we had reached around 8.30 am , he was available or else he is booked. We decided to use both the human and audio guides since we had the whole day and Amber fort was the highlight of our trip. Harishankar guide gave us no history more than what was there on wikipedia. The only thing Harishankar guide kept repeating over and over was that the artisans in the village are amazing and they used to make cloth for the kings and now for tourists. He took 40 minutes, showed us the ground floor, insulted some wedding photographers and couples and got us out of the back door saying that we have to visit the village and it was not compulsory to buy anything. We told him and we were not interested in shopping. In 40 minutes, Harishankar guide told us that our tour was over and we can't reenter from back gate and we will have to buy the entry tickets again. About the fort, We could hardly do justice to it. The only history we got was about bollywood films. Which actress danced where and which actress cooked in which kadhai. We went to buy tickets again but it had gotten too crowded due to some tours coming. And we were already feeling really disappointed and cheated .

          Grand but need better maintenance
be careful of the many guides that’s gonna swarm around you, it’s more dangerous and migraine inducing than a bee attack almost. Also the turban sellers just forcefully put their turban on your head or your child’s head, I mean lice can spread that way. The whole experience of visiting this fort can be so much better if the guides and sellers can just leave the tourists alone in peace to enjoy the architecture. The building is also not well kept, with some places even smelling of urine. The magnificent Amer Fort is an extensive palace complex that has been built with pale yellow and pink sandstone, and with white marble. The fort is divided into four main sections that are graced with their own courtyards. As you arrive at the Amer Fort, you will enter through the Suraj Pol; unless you arrive by car, then you enter via the Chand Pol. Both these gates open into the Jaleb Chowk, which is the main courtyard, where in earlier times, returning armies used to display their plunder to the people. The fort has a number of sections, including the King’s quarters, the zenana (where the women lived), gardens, temples, etc. There are a lot of attractions for one to see at the Amer Fort, including the diwan-e-aam, such mandir, and the Sheesh Mahal. Amber (pronounced Amer) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was the bastion of the Kachwahas of Amber, until the capital was moved to the plains, to what is today Jaipur. The palace, located in craggy hills, is a beautiful melange of Hindu and Mughal styles. Raja Man Singh I began construction in 1592 and the palace, which was built as a strong, safe haven against attacking enemies, was completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh. The contrast between the harsh exterior and the inviting interior couldn’t be more surprising. Made entirely of red sandstone and white marble, visitors are left spellbound by the magnificence of the palace that utilises carvings, precious stones and mirrors. The splendour of the palace is enhanced by the breath-taking vista of the Maota Lake in front. The palace is nearly seven centuries old and has a legendary past. Originally a small structure that the Rajputs won from the Meena tribes, it was later transformed into the grand Amber Palace.

          A surreal experience
Amber Fort was built over the remains of an 11th C fort by Maharajah Man Singh I in 1592. Successive Rajput rulers added to it, making it more formidable. The fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013, one of a group of six hill forts in Rajasthan. Its architecture is a blend of Rajput (Hindu) and Mughal (Islamic) styles. There are four courtyards, palaces, halls, and gardens made from sandstone and marble. Suraj Pol (Sun Gate) and Chand Pol (Moon Gate) lead into the primary courtyard known as Jaleb Chowk. Here the king's soldiers assembled and paraded themselves around. The other 3 courtyards follow in quick succession. Then there is the Shia Devi temple where human sacrifices were part of the rituals. during my time here there was a procession of elephants being ridden by tourists. To reach the entrance at the top, you can either walk uphill, go by jeep, golf cart, or take your vehicle. The cost is 250 rupees for foreigners, but the composite tickets (500 rupees) allow you to see many other sites over 2 days. Amber Fort also has a 2 km tunnel that connects it to Jaigarh Fort which I took, only accompanied by monkeys skipping along the walls, both ways. It was a surreal experience

Nice fort but shame they exploit elephants
Fort is very beautiful and set up on the hillside. Quite busy with tourists. They still offer elephant rides here which is terrible and they should look to remove this option.

          Hilltop fort of exquisite beauty
Fort nestling atop a lake view hill with marvellous staircases, slopes, and an enduring sense of charm and mystery. Take time to spend some hours in the company of these warm stones and fantastic views.

          Terrific Historic Fort
We loved the views of the fort, reflected in the lake. Inside the fort was very impressive and the scale of the fort is amazing. It really gives you a sense of how the Rajastani royalty lived in historical times.. We were pleasantly surprised by the very clean public toilets!

it's been the third time I visited this place with my family and it always made me feel nice and special, homely and enriched with heritage. As I always notice these lil things, going there is time taking due to explosion of population but that doesn't make the place deteriorate in its quality. Also, I'd like to add pls do consider the lights and sound show in the evening to actually appreciate it's history and listen...closely listen to the voice of Amitabh bachchan (there's just something so iconic in his oration) & a bit of a heads up pls do not take people with weak hearts and old people who have difficulty climbing upstairs...it might lead to problems sooner or later. Absolutely lovely for photography. Amazing experience!

The Amber Fort is located at Devisinghpura, Amer, Jaipur. The best way to save time and visit all the Palaces in Jaipur is to rent a taxi. Costs about Rs1650/-. Get a guide as well for Rs1200. The Amber Fort is located on top of a hill, has a 32 km wall surrounding it ( 3rd largest in the world) . The beauty of Rajasthani architecture, furniture, art and tradition is on display at the palace. Don't miss the Sheesh Mahal ( glass palace). Will take you about 2-3 hrs to enjoy the experience.

Hello Guys, One month ago i visited Jaipur with my friends and visited many places. Amber Fort is one of them and most attractive place. I was stunned watching this fort because I have never seen a fleet this big in my life it's boundaries are on the mountains also. It's infrastructure is so good you can't remove your eyes from it. It is a very big fort if you want to visit you need a lot of time to see full fort. We don't have enough time because we have to see some other places also that day. In Jaipur their are many fort and I found the amber fort the best one. If you ever visit happy make sure to go there. And I will hook again their and this time see the whole fort.

A must see when in Jaipur. Amber Fort is a blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture built in the 16th century. The Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) is particularly interesting . The fort’s intricate carvings and courtyards make it a must-visit. Highly recommended for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts!

AVOID. I received an email with my PDF ticket, and confirmation of my booking.

No one showed up at the meeting point (my hotel).

I phoned the number given but they claimed to have no knowledge of my booking.

        Waste of time and money.

Amazing well maintained fort. We were there along with family and we all enjoyed a lot. There is also a temple within the fort, we had darshan of temple. Be aware there are lots of monkeys so you need to take care of your belongings. We can take our vehicles up to the fort from backside which is very near to the entrance of the fort.
