About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 382rosemaryf0 contributionsHelpful at every step! - Five days in North India followed by a two-week journey through South IndiaPrior to joining our friends on the tour described in the previous review, Fabulous Customised Tour- South East India, my husband and I arrived from N. America in Delhi and spent 5 days visiting city sites, the Taj Mahal, and Dharamshala. Vikas from Royal Rajasthan Travels organized our transport, hotels and guides for this short trip which was a prelude to our tour with friends of South India. All of his choices were A-1; our drivers were safe, responsible and helpful, our guides were professional, knowledgeable and personable and the choices of hotel were great too. Especially notable is that our flight from Jaipur to Chandigarh was cancelled at the last minute due to bad weather, and Vikas advised us immediately after finding this out, such that we were able to change our itinerary, book a train from Delhi to Chandigarh, and arrive in Dharamshala as originally scheduled. As described in detail in the full review by JPNoosa of our South India tour, Vikas provided our group with exceptional care throughout our 2-week journey. Especially appreciated was his willingness to adapt to our groups’ spontaneous health-related needs along the way. Thank you Vikas for your valuable assistance . We wouldn’t have been able to do this trip without your help ☀️!Written February 7, 2025
- JPNoosa0 contributionsFabulous Customised Tour- South East IndiaHi Vikas, Thanks to you we realised our plans into a fabulous, fun, fascinating journey through south east India. Three glorious weeks :- Chennai Mahabalipuram Puducherry Thanjavur Madurai - Meenakshi Temple Thekkady Alleppey - Backwater Cruise Fort Kochi Hotels You helped us to secure reservations in all the Hotels, we discussed with you. Some were niche, others only had a few rooms, others were at full capacity, because it was the Spring Harvest Festival- Pongol… but somehow, you always got us our rooms. Driver & Minivan I specifically asked for a driver who spoke excellent English - You really delivered your best man for this position - Chikku! He was an excellent driver & communications partner with all the guides. So highly capable & professional. We can’t speak highly enough of him. He looked after us so well. The minivan was luxurious- the seats so comfortable and lovely & cool that the 5 adults could sprawl easily with room for all our luggage at the back, plus all our daypacks with us. Excellent Guides You organised excellent guides for us at each point throughout our trip. We highly recommend the ones we had at Chennai, Fort Kochi - Muhammed Basheer; and Priyanka in Thekkady, who went to a lot of trouble to make sure we did everything we wanted to do & escorted one of us to the Doctor, assisting with translation. She was very caring. Emergency Help I also have to Thank You for immediately finding alternative accommodation for my friend, within a matter of minutes of our imminent departure on the Houseboat (that she didn’t feel well to go on). She felt so unwell & your prompt response put her’s & all our minds at ease. Our journey was a kaleidoscope of sensory experiences: we met so many wonderful, friendly people; enjoyed the beautiful, vibrant colours of birds, saris, fruit, spices, forests, rice fields, tea plantations; smelt the fresh spices, the coconuts, the delicious curries, fish markets & the rice harvest and are in awe & wonder at India’s rich and incredible History! Thank You 🙏🏽 for sharing your incredible knowledge & insight about travel with us. Best wishes to You, Vikas, and your family! See you next time!Written February 2, 2025
- frishlv0 contributionsFantastic tour with fantastic travel companyEverything from the meet and greet at the airport to the moment we were driven back to Delhi was impeccably organised. The itinerary was followed meticulously. I'd like in particular mention our driver Sita - always calm cool and collected, even in crazy Delhi traffic. Sher - the guide in Jaipur and the one in Agra also deserve special mention. Beware though, long drives may be harder than you anticipate.Written November 12, 2024
- Roropororopororopo0 contributionsIt was a perfect vacation. We had an 18 days Amritsar/Rajasthan tour. The your was customized for me and my wife. Overall, we are very happy with the tour. We had a nice car, very good driver and excellent hotels. I will surely recommend Royal Rajasthan Travels. Vikas was always available to help, almost 24x7.Written October 27, 2024
- Ptheoneandonly0 contributionsSuperwell organised! We asked this travel agency to provide a 12d tour through Rajasthan based on our wish list of cities (Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bundi, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi) and the kind of hotels we liked. The agency took care of everything from arrival till drop off at the airport for the return flight, including domestic flight. And we are deeply satisfied by the organisation: a very calm and safe driver, nice car, very good and skilled guides (not pushing you to tourist traps), great selection of hotels, very good suggestions of restaurants during guided trips, no surprises,.... I can honestly and sincerely strongly recommend this travel agency if you consider visiting India!Written July 29, 2024
- 94arielled0 contributionsFantastic trip, great service & attention to detail - Can’t wait to visit India again! What a fantastic trip. Thanks in large part to Vikas, our Indian travel agent. Our initial concerns planning a trip from so far away were put aside with his attention to every detail. We arrived late at night in Delhi & realised that we would need a bigger car to comfortably accomodate 4 Europeans & not 4 Indians - by the next morning, Vikas had organised everything. He was fantastic! We so enjoyed our trip ( the hotels, the guides and our wonderful driver) that we’re planning another trip with Royal Rajasthan, next year to the South of India. We highly recommend booking a trip with Royal Rajasthan Tours.Written July 11, 2024
- L4011GXka0 contributionsMagical memories thanks to great organization from VikasWe had the most memorable, magical holiday of a lifetime. Vikas, would have to be one of the best travel agents I’ve ever dealt with & there have been many! My wife and I are not the youngest & have traveled extensively. Therefore, we’re pretty demanding, as clients. However, Vikas met all our concerns and his company’s services were excellent. He really does go above and beyond. He answered all my queries really promptly; accommodated our requests when possible & timely advised us if any weren’t able to be met. I also really appreciated his advice on several occasions. In one instance, we wanted to visit a place that was not easy to find or get to. Vikas, advised us on costs, timings & route alternatives. It really helped us to make a decision about whether we should go. It took him a lot of investigation work & we didn’t even end up going. However, he was as polite, patient and professional as ever. Thanks Vikas! All the hotels we stayed in were very clean & some were absolutely delightful. We were a little worried that some hotels might not be up to par in the cleanliness department but everything was fine. Some might be a little old but that’s all. The time spent traveling from Delhi to Udaipur was spent in comfort & in the company of our considerate driver, Kumar. In each destination, we had excellent guides who brought to life the history of Rajputs, their beautiful culture and traditions. The food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the variety & tastiness of the vegetarian dishes on offer. Wow! I would definitely recommend Vikas and his tour company to anyone. Happy Travels - We’ll definitely come back againWritten June 10, 2024
- emmasB8052ZY0 contributionsDo not book with this tour company. The threatening behaviour from Vikas and awful hotel conditions ruined our trip. Our trip started in Delhi where the hotel was dirty, had no hot water for one evening and no water at all the second evening, to the point where the toilet wouldn’t flush! The ceiling fan had a hole around it which made it look like it was going to fall out and the electrics kept crackling which seemed unsafe. Our next stop was Agra and the hotel was even dirtier than the first. We didn’t even feel clean coming out of the shower. We also had no hot water the whole time we were there. On top of this the staff in the hotel tried to scam us by trying to charge us 700 rupees (equivalent of about £7) for one beer, to give context bars charge about 350 rupees. When we refused their offer we were harassed with multiple calls to our room offering other (still unreasonable) prices for a beer. The location of this hotel was off the main road down a dirt track, which felt very unsafe to walk down at night as two women. On top of the tour, we had asked Vikas to help us with some additions to our trip. We wanted to stay another couple of nights in Varanasi at the end of the tour and were happy to pay Vikas to extend our stay there. We also asked for his assistance with booking a train and some transfers. On the third night of the trip we were informed that our train had not been confirmed and we would only find out 24 hours before departure if we would be able to board. We were very frustrated by this news as Vikas had not told us at any point that the train was not confirmed, despite him informing us the booking was made over a month before the trip. If we had known this was a possibility we would have sought other transport options. With his dishonesty up to this point and the conditions of the hotels we had encountered, we decided that we did not want Vikas’ help with the additional items and we would organise our own transport and hotel once we had reached Varanasi. Vikas was unhappy that we were not going to continue to book services through him, and aggressively stated that we must pay him for the additional nights in Varanasi as he had already made the payment to the hotel. Reluctantly, we offered to pay for the additional nights after our arrival at the hotel in Varanasi so that we could check the cleanliness. The following day Vikas continued to argue for immediate payment. His reaction escalated greatly and he threatened to cancel our whole tour, which we had already paid for. His constant messages were upsetting us and ruining our day and we stopped responding so that we could enjoy the sites of Jaipur. Vikas then contacted the tour guide we were with to relay, once again, that he was going to cancel our tour if we did not pay him for the additional nights in Varanasi immediately. Our tour guide empathised with our situation and persuaded Vikas to let us make the payment in Varanasi. Despite his office being supposedly based in Jaipur, Vikas did not make any effort to come and speak with us and resolve the issue, he was only concerned with getting money out of us. The following night we flew to Varanasi, leaving the tour guides and driver that we had been travelling with thus far. After the unsettling conversation with Vikas and the manner in which he reacted to our reasonable request, we were honestly quite scared about who was going to meet us and what was going to happen on our arrival. Vikas had sent a driver and a guide to meet us, with the expectation that we would be driven to a cash point in the middle of the night and pay a complete stranger the money. The hotel in Varanasi was by no means good standards, but we did not want any further threats from Vikas and so paid for the hotel the following morning. The sum we paid Vikas was double the amount that the hotel should have cost. We were supposed to have a driver included in the additional days also, however Vikas also failed to mention that the drivers do not travel to the centre of Varanasi on Holi festival, so we had to make our own arrangements. Despite the horrendous conditions of the hotels and Vikas’ threatening behaviour, the drivers and tour guides that took us through our journey of India were amazing. If you are booking a trip, I’d suggest booking directly through them and avoid any contact with Vikas and Royal Rajhasthan Travels - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g304551-d13515031-Reviews-The_Imperial_Tours-New_Delhi_National_Capital_Territory_of_Delhi.htmlWritten April 7, 2024
- Sorcha12340 contributionsRoyal Rajasthan Travels is NOT recommended.I would not recommend booking with Royal Rajasthan Travels. We were booked onto The golden triangle with Varanasi tour. We had a slightly different order due to Taj Mahal being closed on Fridays. While the companies sub contracted to provide the drivers and guides were really wonderful (Imperial Tours, Rajasthan Destinations and Guy's travel), the hotels booked were a very mixed bag. Vikas (assumed manager of company and main person we dealt with) made us feel unsafe and scared. As two women travelling in India for the first time this caused undue stress and anxiety that I would not wish on anyone. Our first stay was in Delhi. This hotel had very dodgy electrics, did not always have running water and was filthy. "Not to worry" we said, it’s one night and probably a blip. Our second hotel was in Agra and this was truly grim. The bathroom was revolting. The bed linen has all sorts of stains and the room was full of bugs. No panic we thought. This tour was a bargain from all our research so let’s take the positives and move on. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when we learnt that the train that Vikas had booked for us (as an extra) for our onward travel from Varanasi to Rishikesh was not confirmed. This could result in a huge expense on our part as we would have to pay for an expensive last minute internal flight to reach our next destination on our trip if the train could not be confirmed. Our trust in Vikas and team was broken. Prior to our trip, he had advised that we settle up on the additional bookings we had made when we reached his home city of Jaipur. By this point, we made the difficult decision to cut our losses and cancel our extended stay in Varanasi (two additional nights in hotel) so that we could afford the plane ticket. Vikas responded very very badly to our request to cancel our additional extras (two more nights in Varanasi "with driver", train to Rishikesh, transfer from Rishikesh to Delhi, hotel in Delhi and airport transfer). He proceeded to threaten us with cancelling the remaining services we had already paid for and insisted that we hand over cash before leaving Jaipur. We understood that he had paid for the next hotel up front and therefore we acquiesced and said we’d pay for the extra nights in Varanasi once we had reached the hotel. He was still not happy. He hounded us and our guide and driver the next day. It had a huge impact on our experience in Jaipur. His attitude and response was frankly appalling and not the customer service one would expect from a travel agent. The next 24 hrs were very high anxiety. He sent his sub-contractor to pick us up from the airport in Varanasi. We were already very anxious that we would be met with hostility late at night in a new city. This gentleman, Nitin, was nice enough although clearly felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. It transpired that Vikas had not paid him or booked the services that we had already paid Vikas for (two nights in Varanasi, driver and guide for a day-part of the original tour). We were exhausted after a long day travelling to Varanasi but no longer surprised at the latest turn of events. Nitin was primarily there to collect the cash that Vikas wanted. Nitin busted a gut to ensure we had a room that was sufficient. There was running water and the bathroom wasn’t filthy so we were ok to proceed. Nitin advised that he would collect the cash in the morning. We were still nervous about paying cash but at this point we wanted to be done with Vikas so that he could stop ruining our holiday. We will be reporting Vikas and his company through all available channels so that he doesn’t treat anyone else like this. I am relieved that we are safe but completely appalled at his behaviour. What a horrible man. On a side note: all the hotels had excellent trip advisor ratings but varied substantially in their cleanliness and location. From our experience in India as a whole, I would interpret all the positive reviews on trip advisor with caution. It’s super common to be asked to provide a review in front of the people you are reviewing and thus they may not truly represent everyone’s lived experience.Written April 7, 2024

- H49VPsusand0 contributionsPalaces and Forts across Rajasthan. This was an exciting luxury unique tour taking in Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Thar Desert, Khimser Fort and Jaipur. We were privileged to have an excellent driver for our 2 weeks holiday and very knowledgable guides at historic sites. We stayed in a range of accommodation from luxurious hotels with pools and bars to impressive Heritage Hotels steeped in historical and cultural history and as well as desert camps with camel rides, sunset teas and desert safaris. The food was outstanding with some of the best meals we have ever had. These are places that need to be experienced and if you like the look of pictures in books then you will enchanted by the real thing. Having visited many places in India over 30 years this was the most outstanding holiday. Weather was fantastic, and many of the places offer that truly authentic India-an experience of a lifetime. Our itinerary and tour went like clockwork.Written November 28, 2023
- Companion324271364480 contributionsGreats tour of Agra. This part of our Golden Triangle Private Tour included Agra. Our guide Divya Dee and driver Mr Ashok were just fabulous. Our guided tour of Taj Mahal was very informative and the day was breathtaking. We used a local private photographer which is well worth the cost. Got some great photos . The Radisson was very nice and the breakfast was great . The other major attraction was the Agra Fort and once again the guided tour was informative. Loved it. Overall the 8 days were fantastic and we were very well look after by Rajasthan travelWritten October 14, 2023
- rileyg8220 contributionsGolden Triangle, Varanasi, Udaipur, and Jodhpur tripA truely incredible experience. After being concerned about booking a tour with and operator on the other side of the world, Vikas (Travel Agent) was quick to settle my concerns. My trip was seamless from airport pick up to drop off. Royal Rajasthan Travels is a reliable and trustworthy operator with safety and customer experience at its forefront of mind. This is evident by Vikas replying to all queries by email or WhatsApp extremely fast, and by having guides who were personable and cared for your safety, as well as drivers who drove responsibly (Rameshwar was my driver and he was great!). My Golden Triangle, Varanasi, Udaipur, and Jodhpur trip was fantastic and I would not hesitate to recommend Royal Rajasthan Travels to anyone! When you come to India you must book a tour with them!Written April 30, 2023

- dummyusername0 contributionsRoyal TreatmentWe were nervous scheduling a tour halfway across the globe (literally). However, the Royal Rajasthan experience was great from start to finish. Vikas was our primary contact - working with us to customize our 5-day Golden Triangle experience to visit everything we wanted in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. He was quick in his responses via email and WhatsApp! Our driver, Sanjay, was a lifesaver - keeping us safe on the crazy roads of India. ('good brakes, good horn, good luck!') He even took us to an extra stop and recommended a dinner place on the way to the airport drop-off. Royal contracts with local, independent tour guides. who know the sites well. Each of our guides (Ramesh, Divya, Sher Singh) had lived in their respective cities for many years, if not their whole life. They provided historical context for each memorial as well as became our 'free' photographer as we toured the site. They guided us to the best places for buying souvenirs and places to avoid. They were so proud of their city and loved showing it off to us. We were able to meet Vikas in person to pay the balance of the trip on our next to last day. And talk with him about the overall experience. Be sure to know the types of hotels and vehicle type you will have for the trip. We needed to upgrade the car after day 1 to an SUV to get more room and better A/C (a must!)! We were treated as Royalty by Royal Rajasthan Travel!Written March 12, 2023
