          Do this tour!
Don’t think we would have known where to start in terms of where to eat safely which is why this tour was so good. Nice to experience street food at sunset by the beach along with the locals and then head into a really busy part of the city for more food. Great to walk through the lively and busy districts to experience how everyone in Mumbai live their lives. All food delicious and neither of us got ill. Great vibe and enjoyed some tasty dishes 😋 Jenna the guide knowledgeable and kept us all Together which was a feat!

          More than we expected
This tour really was a highlight. We tried many different foods that we only would have seen and been unsure to try. The pani puri and kulfi were highlights and the Indian version of nachos pretty great too. Learning about how the trains work was a bonus and eye opening!

          An inspiring lifetime must
Just incredible and entirely eye-opening. Resourcefulness and positivity exudes from Dharavi, it was such a privilege to get to know such a special place full of such special, resilient people - it was by far the favourite experience of tour trip Our guide Rishi was simply wonderful - endlessly knowledgeable and passionate. It was so lovely to meet him and hear such an honest and personal insight into Dharavi - as well as, the brilliant work supported by tour funds at Reality Gives. Visiting the Reality Gives classroom was great - it is quite evidently a thriving and integral hub of support and opportunity for many - a very special organisation. Can't thank-you enough - we would recommend Rishi and Reality Tours and Travel to anyone.

          Not what you expect..
Put all your preconceptions behind you when you start this tour, some of the slum was what I expected, but I wasn't ready for the sense of community and the positive attitudes. Nothing goes to waste here, other countries could learn a lot from their resourcefulness. A great start was the train ride in with our wonderful guide Sabina, a third generation resident, it was like being shown around with a friend, I really connected with her. Sadly other companies have copied Reality, they are the originals, and quite rightly do not allow photos. It's not a freak show, people are going about their daily lives, we saw other companies allowing them, this may change the friendly attitude we met throughout the tour. Laudibly 80% of the profits are invested in the community, we saw a school project for example. Very well done guys, we wish you all the best. Keep up the good work! 💪👍 💕

Delicious food and great tour guide!
Great tour! The food was delicious and varied. Our tour guide was Rishi - he was really friendly and knowledgeable. He knew alot about the food and also shared facts about different sites in Mumbai. He always asked us if we wanted more food and we were very full by the end! He checked if we had any allergies too. It was very busy at the market during the second half of the tour, but that just added to the experience!

A positive glimpse of Mumbai slum life.
Insightful experience providing a glimpse into the life and economy of a Mumbai slum. Overall, while shocking in some respects, the message and impression we were left with, was generally positive. The guide was a local and took her time to take us around and answer our questions.

          Excellent tour
I did this tour in December 2023. It was excellent. I am grateful that I was informed in advance that the day that I originally wanted didnt work because the markets would be closed. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, the tour was quite easy, we saw some interesting parts of Mumbai. I would highly recommend it.

          An Eye Opener
What a tour. I will not say too much about it for fear of spoiling it for others. But it is a “Must Do” whilst in Mumbai. The experience is phenomenal. Be sure to ask for Javed as your guide. He was born and bred in the area and knows it inside out and he speaks excellent English.

Very interesting tour, tasty food and some of the proceeds reduce child poverty
The food tour was fantastic. It was not only great for tasting many different street foods but it was also a great way to see local areas of Mumbai with someone who knows the area. Our guide, Rishi, walked us through the the chaotic markets of Mumbai but also caught a train to Chowpatty beach at sunset. This tour is a great starting point for anyone who has recently arrived in a city in India. Initially we were a little concerned about the hygiene of eating street food but we were both absolutely fine after. I was delighted to find out that the tour company, Reality Tours, give a large proportion of the proceeds to educate Indian children to help them get out of poverty. The only thing to be aware of is the meeting point at Churchgate station is unclear. Best to phone when you arrive at station to confirm exact location

          get to know Mumbai kontrasts
Before we started the tour I saw Dharavi from plane. It made me shiver to think about to visit. A friend of mine recommendes a guided tour offered by Reality Tours. Because they are there for many years, working with locals and support the community. So we had the 2 hour walk. I felt like on a different planet, at the start. Im the end a have a lot of respect for the work Reality Tours is doing, also the effort of Dharavi community. To experience such close perspective of living and working in Mumbai will last loooong. One learning from my tour is: Recycling is a business for everyone. An other learning the strong coherency of the community. You vist Mumbai? This tour is a must have!

          High quality tours
I made three tours with them (Dharawi, Street Food and Elephanta caves) and they were all very good! Especially the Dharawi tour I enjoyed most. Professional organisation, informative and their profits go to 80 % to a NGO

A fascinating insight into the area
It was a fascinating experience, offering an insight into the area of Dharavi. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Dharavi may be called a slum, but this tour removes one's preconceptions of a slum. There are many businesses that obviously provide a living for the people. The residential area is very tightly packed but the houses look neat and clean. I would recommend it to anyone interested in seeing the real Mumbai.

          Amazing experience
An amazing experience on the Dharavi tour. Our guide, Lena, was so confidant, informative and welcoming, and obviously had a great rapport with the residents of the slum. It was so interesting and inspiring, and we felt very privileged to be given access to the residents and their way of life

We had truly emersive and wonderful experience with Swathi. Not only was she truly knowledgeable , but she was funny and - most importantly - has a kind heart. The driver was also very sweet!

The tour was well planned and smooth, and we saw Mumbai from all angles. We felt safe and secure the whole time ( as two women this was very important for us). Truly a wonderful experience: 100% recommended!

As a solo woman traveler, I was hesitant to venture out into Mumbai by myself. Booking a private tour with Reality Tours was the best decision I could have made. Raj, my guide for the day, showed me sights I never would have dared visit on my own. He was friendly, knowledgable, and happy to answer all of my questions about Indian culture and Mumbai. Whenever I took a particular interest in something, he took care to spend more time there or provide more detailed information. Raj also has a super power - he's able to stop Mumbai traffic with a single hand, which is no small feat! I will never forget the peaceful quiet of Bombay Panjrapole, the twists and turns and colors of all the markets, and eating pani puri at Chowpatty beach at sunset. Thank you, Raj, for being such a gracious host!

We booked this tour for three of us as one of our group had been on a previous tour and rated it one his highlights across the whole of India.

So our guide Jenya had a tough billing to live up to! He was superb - tailoring the day to create a mix of different sights with some new experiences for everyone. He was very knowledgeable about all things Mumbai and a tremendous ambassador for the city and this company. Paul the driver was also charming and able to add to the tour.

We saw a whole range of sights including the flower market, viewpoints, The Haji Ali Daragh, a Jain temple, street food on the beach and the Ghandi museum.

It seems counter intuitive and even uncomfortable to have 'slum tour' mixed in with sightseeing, but the visit to Dharavi was the highlight of the day. The company's clear social purpose and the way it is offering employment and reinvesting profits back into the area are accompanied by a narrative that challenges preconceptions. There are all sorts of issues that you have to confront about housing, regeneration, rights and environmental responsibilities within a community that is enterprising, connected and clearly proud.

We came across another Dhavari tour taking photos, which felt very wrong and this company have a clear policy about cameras not being allowed. Its a tour that will live long in the mind for changing your thoughts about how we live together in cities. If you want to visit Dhavari then this is the only tour you should take.

It is however great too see that a company with such purpose is able to be so much more - and the whole day was a standout experience. Now all three of us will be advocating these tours next time we are in India!

I cannot adequately describe how amazing our day was with Sonny. I, along with 5 colleagues, traveled around the city for most of the day. Sonny filled us with history, knowledge about his culture, customs, and shared a few personal tales about life in the big city. We traveled through markets and busy streets, the Gate of India, the Laundry, the Banganga Tank, and other various temples. He made us feel like one of the family. It was perfectly paced, a little walking, a little cool off time on a bus ride, more walking, etc. At no time did I feel unsafe or uncared for. I would recommend this experience to anyone. What is especially great is that part of the money for the tour goes back to education of children of the community.

Wonderful day trip with Raj who was a great guide . Raj and our driver picked up our group of 5 people from our hotel as arranged via Bipin in the office . Raj suggested our route as we had seen many places of interest already on another Mumbai tour . We started with lunch in the Taj Palace which was a great experience , we then went into the railway station and actually went inside having seen the outside the previous day , this was a real eye opener . We then saw numerous other Mumbai places of interest and Raj gave us many interesting facts about the City . After visiting a huge open air laundry and market area in Dadah he took us to where he grew up in the slum city of Dharavi . Dharavi was amazing and probably for me the highlight , Raj took us through the commercial and residential areas with his knowledge of the area being a huge asset , he knew many people in the area . I would throughly recommend Reality Tours and Raj , I also like that they return a percentage of the profits to slum areas to help the people living in those areas .

I took an all day tour with Reality Tours. I highly recommend them. It would have taken me days to see what I experienced with them in one day. I was solo with a guide and driver. Traffic, distances, my lack of Hindi skills really prohibited me from doing this alone expeditiously.

Price was reasonable and my guide was completely open to showing me anything I wanted. He made excellent itinerary suggestions. He spoke English very well and was full of information. I particularly appreciated the Dharavi slums tour. It was done respectfully and provided terrific insight into local cottage industries.

My family, (two daughters, one son-in-law, one 12 year old granddaughter and 76 year old me) recently took the private Mumbai Sightseeing Tour - full day run by Reality Tours and Travel. We were met in the hotel lobby by our guide Balaji and had a discussion on what we would like to see and do. We met our driver and off we went. As our hotel was opposite the Gateway of India we had already crossed that off the list. Among the places we visited or saw were Crawford Market, Dhobi Gat Outdoor Laundry, Bombay University, Gandhi Museum, the Victoria Terminus and to us the highlight of the tour, the Dharavi Slum. Our guide Balaji lives there and was able to really give us insightful knowledge about the way the community lives and works (1,000,000 million people living and working within a 2.5 square kilometre area.).. The children were a particular delight with their cheeky grins and “high fives”. A percentage of the money earned through these tours is used for the improvement of life for these hardworking communities. They have schools, doctors, shops, bottled gas, electricity and water within the slum but communal toilets and washing and bathing facilities. Balaji said he was very happy there because there are many of his cousins from the same village he initially came from. Our family found the visit to be a memorable and uplifting experience. Thank you Balaji for your exceptional knowledge of all the places we visited and your charm and good humour. Also, our driver, Raj, was exceptional in getting us through (to our eyes) the chaos and noise of the Mumbai traffic so expertly. It certainly was a day to remember.

We were picked up from our ship by Chetan and Prashant and each day we were shown around Mumbai. Chetan had a wealth of knowledge which he told us about. He knew everything about Mumbai past and present. He showed us all of our requests.... and then some. Prashant is an extdriver especially navigating the crowded streets of Mumbai. Wonderful tour and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!
