- Trip613097613630 contributionsDelhi slum tour with Santan. My guide was Santan for the Delhi slum tour. After a short rickshaw ride we arrived at colony and he told me all about the people that lived in the area. We walked through market street with a variety of shops and stopped for a great cup of chai. Santan was very knowledgeable and it was a great and respectful tour. A definite "must do" whilst in Delhi. Thank you, Santan.Written November 27, 2024
- sandrasL2751QJ0 contributionsUnique and highly recommended tourI highly recommend this tour! Very interesting and unique experience. Very interesting to see how these people live and listen to them. It was very informative and Santans English was very wood. I would definitely book a tour with him again!Written November 11, 2024
- Y1676QDsamuelm0 contributionsA must-doA must do in New Delhi. Tour guide is very well connected and uses money made to help the local community. Doing a truly amazing thing. The kids and people are great, never felt unsafe on the tour.Written November 4, 2024
- Katy B0 contributionsDelhi Slum Walking TourWe had a fantastic walking tour with the very knowledgeable, respectful and relaxed Santan. It was extremely interesting and Santan’s familiarity with the local community meant we felt very welcome. We met the kindest, friendliest people. Many thanks for a very special experience.Written October 26, 2024
- jackmV8204FE0 contributionsSo good!Amazing experience. As our guide said himself it was much more a walk through the neighbourhood then a tour. Everyone we met was so lovely and open. Would recommend to anyone visiting Delhi!Written October 25, 2024
- Ian S0 contributionsWorthwhile VisitReally interesting tour by Santan. Obviously the conditions are very difficult for its residents but the one thing I took away was the laughter & banter. Everybody was so friendly, hospitable and just making the best of things. More uplifting than depressing, and important to be aware of daily reality for thousands of people. Santan knew everybody and everything so well as had grown up there. Fully recommend.Written October 10, 2024

- 995Anne0 contributionsWhat a wonderful experience we had visiting the Zakhira CommunityWe had such a heart warming visit to the Zakhira Community.. They shared with us a real, genuine sense of community… Apart from the obvious poverty, what stood out most to me was what the residents lacked in material and facilities, they made up with heart. ♥️ Such lovely giving people too. Our guide Santan is a kind-hearted, very knowledgeable gentleman. He knows the Community very well and we felt safe and comfortable.. We had such an amazing experience, we decided to visit a second time.. Big thank you 🙏🏻 to Santan for guiding us.. and a big thank you to The Zakhira Community for welcoming us into their lives.. I wished we could have stayed longer in India. 🇮🇳 Namaste 🙏🏻Written October 4, 2024
- Magpieman43610 contributionsGreat experienceWhat an amazing experience. An insight into the daily activities of one of India's poor communities all living in cramped conditions on and around a busy railway system. Our guide for the day was Santan who was very informative and also invested himself with the children and community. You certainly walk away with a different perspective on life. 10/10Written October 2, 2024
- Testear0 contributionsUnique experience10/10 - highly recommend. This is a unique experience you will have in India. I've joined a slum tour in Mumbai before, but this one was unique as it focused on the artists. The tour guide was also open to spontaneous joiners that I met at my hostel. He knew a lot of people in the colony, so we felt very safe.Written September 27, 2024
- U9390XRemmar0 contributionsBe enriched by this tour. This was an absolute highlight of our time in India. I took my 15 year old son and he gained so much from the tour, as I. He said it is the best thing he experienced. We had chai and visited a chapati making place….it was so memorable as they asked my son to have a go. A whole clan of children cheered on with delight. The slums are such amazing places, the people so beautiful (so many children eager to meet us) and welcoming. It is all about community. Santan was fantastic. We were over an hour late and he still accommodated us. He taught us a lot about life in the slums. He runs a school there too. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Be aware that it is quite a long way from where you are probably staying so factor that in. Do it for sure though. Be enriched.Written September 25, 2024
- Maps285013899320 contributionsHighly recommended!!I had the pleasure of having Santan as my tour guide for my Delhi Slum Tour. He was very friendly, I found his English to be excellent and his knowledge of the community and acceptance by them excellent. He appears very passionate about his job. I had such an interesting time touring Old Delhi with Santan. He is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, already ready to answer your questions, and speaks fluent English. He goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy the tour and took me to hidden away places most tourists would never see on their own! Thank you Santan for a great experience.

If you really want to experience the true trade of Delhi then Juan is your Man. We met at the metro and Juan was prepared with masks as we were using the metro to get to our first destination. The tour takes you through the narrow alleyways where all sorts of trade are carried out. There are loads of food options if you are brave enough, unfortunately we werent feeling great so at the end of the trip Jaun took us to Dominos!!
We walked through busy markets and took rickshaws and tut tuts to see the spice market.
Juan is so kind and helpful and will go out of his way to make you feel safe and comfortable.
I would highly recommend this company and the tour

I was able to enjoy it safely even though I was alone! It was a tour that I could enjoy to the fullest, including shopping and eating, while passing through streets that tourists alone cannot go to, and seeing the streets of India. The guide explained about spices, so I was able to buy some. The guide's English was easy to understand, and he was a friendly person, so I was very satisfied.

John took me on a walking tour of Old Delhi. He clearly knew many of the vendors. I had some luggage which I was able to leave with a hotel owner before we started on our journey.
While I was told it was a slow period, to me Old Delhi was incredibly busy! Markets for everything, shoulder to shoulder patrons. We tasted some of the food, bought of the tea. He even arranged for us to climb to a building's roof and look out over the bussle.
He's an excellent host and guide. I would have been completely lost on my own.

As a female solo traveler on a first trip to India I was especially grateful to Santan for his excellent walking tour. Old Delhi is a fascinating and wonderful place and Santan knows all the ins and outs. I felt safe and learned so much. Also the food places he recommended are delicious and I didn’t get sick as they are very clean. Highly recommend.

I already had enjoyed Street Tours India's slum tour the day before, and decided to book this tour with Santan. It was really a perfect way to see Old Delhi. We took a tuk-tuk to the Red Fort, then visited the oldest Hindu Temple, where you could witness the prayers, and the big statue of Shiva. Then we got on a rickshaw tour through the narrow streets of Old Delhi which was real delight! Once we arrived at the colorful spice market, I was able to purchase good quality spices in a store Santan recommended. Then we headed to the rooftop of the spice market, and it was like being on a movie set with scenery that could have dated back over 100 years ago. As a photographer, Santan allowed me plenty of time to take the photos I wanted and observe this fascinating world. We ended with having one of the best lassi's I had during my Indian trip, and with a rickshaw ride to the subway, Santan accompanied me to my stop. Santan is an excellent guide, patient, speak very good English and has a lot of information to share. This is not a big company who just cares about profits, but there is a real human connection. Santan grew up in the slums, and is also dedicating a lot of time to help people who are less fortunate. I highly recommend his tours!
