- Anon163090 contributionsSuch an educational experience! What a wonderful morning! A great way to actually understand the political and social factors surrounding the slums. I really enjoyed my time and got to speak to many local people who gave me their insight on what life in the slum really is like. I left feels very humbled - I joined this tour for education and I can say that I really did learn a lot. Really worth the visit - very non-intrusive also. Lot's of respect for the volunteers and guides thar guve their time to help in these areas.Written March 10, 2024

- Dreamer124878265800 contributionsExcellent New Delhi food tourA group of friends and I just completed the food tour of New Delhi with Shiva from PETE for India and we had a fantastic time! Shiva met us at the assigned spot on time and we walked around many different places sampling the street food as we went. From delicious breads, masala chai (the best we've tasted), vegetarian and chicken dishes to amazing sweets we were left wanting nothing by the finish. Shiva is a quiet, thoughtful man whose passion for food is obvious. He is very considerate to ensure the spice level of the food offered is appropriate (😊) so we could enjoy everything presented to us. There is no question of the amount of food - anything we wanted to taste was prepared for us at the different stops along the way. I would recommend this tour for people who want to get a real food expereince with someone who knows what he's talking about. Thanks Shiva for an excellent tour!Written November 20, 2023
- 737deidreg0 contributionsThis tour is a must do if visiting Delhi! Our guide, Sunny, was so friendly and knowledgeable as he showed us around his own community and shared about his life living in the Sangam Colony. I was concerned our presence may be intrusive, but felt very welcomed by the residents and the children getting heaps of handshakes and smiles and felt very safe the entire time. An unforgettable experience for all the right reasons!Written November 19, 2023
- Pioneer222027202430 contributionsAbsolute highlight of IndiaThis was an absolute highlight of our 2 week Indian trip. We felt safe and comfortable and all the people and happy faces we met was such a joy. I loved the railway walk and the seeing the kids playing cricket on active tracks and the trains going past. Thoroughly recommend this tour and any opportunity to help these amazing humans who live in the communities.Written November 18, 2023

- Lydia M0 contributionsSo glad we did it. Highly recommend for those who want to learn rather than tour.My partner and I went on this tour, to get a deeper understanding of what poverty looks and feels like. This tour allowed us to connect with people who are living a life so incredibly different from ours, and to learn from each other. The tour was pretty different from our expectations, since we were a little unsure at first what it would be like, in the end we were so glad we went. We met the kids that our tour guide, Sunny, tutors as a part of a separate NGO. They had 100 questions for us, about how we live, what inspires us and what education is like in the west. Even got us to dance with them. They were amazing! And Sunny was too. We also saw people using rubbish and cardboard to make recycled items, like pillows or decorations, which they sell at their local market. This tour really put things in perspective for us and gave us the opportunity to see a glimpse of how millions of people live each day. It was honestly the highlight of our trip to Delhi. I couldn't recommend it more.Written September 18, 2023

We had a great hike with Pete. We chose his organization in particular because he does a lot for the community. He took us to different places and told us a lot about the society, culture and the name in Delhi. He introduced us to street food that we would normally not eat without advice. It was a beautiful experience

We went on the evening street food tour with Shiva and Abi. We had chosen a private tour and a pick up from our hotel. They were happy to provide the 60km round trip for a small fee, showing us the sights and engaging friendly and intelligent conversation along the way. The Red Fort at the beginning of the tour was beautifully lit by the full Moon, perfect for a few photos. We crossed the street and were suddenly weaving between our expert guides through the crowded streets of Old New Delhi, full of loud activity, street vendors, rickshaws and delicious mouth watering foodies. They were both thoughtful and flexible and adapted the foodies street tour to suit both of our interests including our tastes, personalities and abilities. The places we visited we wouldn't have found ourselves. From the best samosa to the strange and incredible flavours of Indian sweets. All angles were explored with clear engagement with us and where we would like to go without compromising the taste of Delhi that we really seeked. It was a true experience and made our stay in Delhi amazing! Their support and suggestions became our lifesavers at times throughout our trip of The Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) Meeting Shiva and Abi enriched our trip to India and we highly recommend taking one or more of their tours. Namaste 🙏

My husband and I booked this walk through Old Delhi, specifically with Pete because of what they do for the community. We expected everything to be busy, as we were there during Diwali. As such, we also knew that old Delhi and Chandni Chowk would be busy with people shopping. Shiva and a young trainee met us and took us through a decent walk of old Delhi, where we had plenty of food and even visited a Sikh Temple, which we wouldn't have done on our own. Both of them were very patient in the chaos that was Diwali. The tour was decent, but a little uncomfortable, which is where our only issues come into play. Shiva was on his phone quite a bit, which is unprofessional. His trainee was eager to do well, but very shy, and also a bit uncomfortable with the fact his boss was on the phone a lot. The most irritating thing though was when we asked more about Pete and the communities they serve, he just responded, "uh yeah around here". That doesn't really tell me anything. I think the foundation is great and the basic building blocks are there, but if you're going to offer legitimate tours, you need to work on customer service a bit.

Hi,
Shannon thanks for the review, diwali is a busy time for everybody as celebrations starts many days before and as also time to buy gifts, sweets and bonus to people who work with us whole year and that need guidance during the tour call came 2 or 3 times regarding that and explained u abt it and also I believe work abt anything cannot be explained in words or story as long as u don't see it by your own eyes and feel it..Among all the crowd where no space even for standing is there and going thru places can only explain abt the things you were seeing by your eyes and explained as well abt it but advice u as well to join our charity tour if want to know more abt it and see by your eyes..I really feel uncomfortable explaining abt what the foundation does feels like praising myself as one of the founder, also never said (uh around here ) (what does it means? don't make sense) maybe u misunderstand among all the noises and crowd I am sorry for the misunderstanding and suggest if guest want to know more abt foundation they can visit our school and spend sometime with kids and can serve them them food(prepared everyday by our cooks) and practice poems and numbers with them to have a individual experience..we hope to see ur husband and u again on your next visit to india..Thanks once Again for taking our tour..
