Itinerary
- 1You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and driven to Old Delhi where the Fort is located. Enjoy breakfast (beverage excluded) at a local restaurant before you start your tour of the Fort. Enter the Fort through the Lahori Gate, which is the main entrance gate. A covered market, the Meena Bazaar leads to this gate. Start with the Halls of Public and Private Audience, the Diwan-i-Am and Diwan-i-Khas. The walls of these halls were once covered with floral motifs and precious stones. The famous Kohinoor diamond, that is now a part of the British Crown jewels was also housed here. Visit the Royal Baths and the Pearl Mosque built by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Take a tour of the palaces of the Fort- Mumtaz Mahal, Khas Mahal, Rang Mahal and Hira Mahal. The women of the court lived in Mumtaz Mahal while the Khas Mahal was the Emperor’s private residence. The Rang Mahal was built for the Emperor’s wives and mistresses. The Hira Mahal was the last palace to be constructed in the Fort. There are several other pavilions that were once surrounded by gardens. A water channel called the Stream of Paradise used to run through these pavilions. The Fort came under British control in 1857. It was here that the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar was put on trial before being exiled to Burma. The Fort was later converted into a garrison by the British. Today the Fort is the venue for the flag hoisting ceremony and the speech by the Prime Minister of India on 15th August each year. The day marks India’s Independence Day. At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to your hotel.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- barbaracM7649DZ0 contributionsScam! This tour is grossly overpriced and I am requesting a partial refund. The mangrove is nothing but a tourist trap with no wildlife and polluted water. The guide had very basic English and didn’t have much to say at all. It was a long and boring day not to mention a complete rip off. The only good part is the temple. You can easily take a Uber there for very little money. I am not only disappointed but outraged at the cost.Written September 14, 2024

- Joel C0 contributionsDont go Dont tryA restaurant this size and bigger expectations fails on most counts Lets start with their reservations well the take pride in no reservation, but the truth is there are special people seated who have had a backdoor reservation I get a corner sest after a 30 min wait, and boy, i realise the absolute doldrums that the cleanliness is in. My upholstery was dirty, and so were the surrounding walls floor. Ehh I ordered the lamb kebab, the chick tandoori, their acclaimed bukhare dal, and some breaks. The lamb was a disaster. Never eaten something so bad. It was like beaten black and blue and yet left uncooked. The chicken was dry chewy flavourless. The dal was very avaerage and lacked any punch. The staff is courteous though doling out these dished in batches and quickly. Even a catering food would be better. Never again and wudnt even advise a try.Written August 17, 2024

- Y3276FPnicolem0 contributionsAmazing cooking class - so much more than just that, it was a truly memorable evening that we'll never forget! An incredible cooker experience with Mr Singh! He went out of his way to make us comfortable, and we had an amazing evening learning how to cook various breads and curries. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and then taken to the local vegetable & spice market. Our host kindly helped us purchase some spices to take home too! Then when back we settled near a traditional fire, to enjoy drinks and make bread. We each had a go, which was a lot of fun. After that we watched an amazing puppet show from local artists, then enjoyed a amazing cooking class where we made several dishes. Afterwards we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor with our host, and had a lovely evening learning more about the history of the area, the house and his family. Truly a great experience that we couldnt recommend more highly. A memory we will take with us forever!Written July 20, 2024

We had a lunch with friends, and we were hosted by Mr. Vinod Dondiyal, What a person he is, polite, polished, courteous, and his service added the additional pinch of flavour to the food. He is an asset to Hotel. Other staff was also great.Written July 15, 2024

- bibhupdas0 contributionsAverageAverage. View was nice but they only provide loud obnoxious music and no food. We had booked Nirvana cruises thinking less ppl would be there but it was stuffed and smelly. Hiring a chartered yatch/boat would have been better for family like us. Never again.Written April 15, 2024
- romadaro0 contributionsUsed a Different Provider, but They’re Basically the SameThe sunrise boat trip on the Ganges is a must do and provides a clear recognition of the commitment of the people of Varanasi to the teachings of Buddha and Hinduism. It was truly fascinating to see the crowds making their way to the River to participate in this religious ritual and bathing.Written March 29, 2024
