Itinerary
- 1Walk beside one of the most prominent historians of Delhi as you explore the captivating and absorbing Humayun Tomb complex. The Mughal Dynasty has gifted India with some of the most striking monuments. Even today, they stand tall in all their grandeur, gleaming under the sun. Delhi, the capital city of the country has its own share of architectural brilliance scattered throughout its territory. One of these, the Humayun Tomb complex is where this magical trail begins. This three-hour walk starts at around 8:00 am in the morning and the fascinating tomb of Humayun lies at the centre of this garden complex. Built by his son Akbar, the tomb is said to be the first established structure of the Mughal architecture that makes use of red sandstone on a large scale. The tomb also houses the graves of Bega Begum, Hamida Begum and the great Emperor Shah Jahan. Numerous small tombs line the walk to the grand mausoleum, including the tomb belonging to Isa Khan, the Afghan noble and commander of Sher Shah Suri. This tomb is a fine example of the Pathan architecture with its octagonal contour and selective use of glazed tiles. From here, a lofty gate to the left will take you to the Arab Ki Sarai, which is believed to be the enclosure that housed the workmen who built the main tomb. Next to the enclosure is the Afsarwala tomb, belonging to a nobleman in Akbar’s court. There are several other structures in the complex, one of them being the tomb of a royal barber. As you walk around the complex the avid storyteller in the guide will ensure a connect between your visual experience and the enchanting tales he has to share. Once you reach the end of the walk, a bittersweet feeling lingers as you are brought back to reality from the engrossing tales recited by the guide. Taking you back to the Mughal era, this history walk will surely be an enriching experience.
About the operator

- FHTRinRajasthan0 contributionsHilltop History of Karni Mata Temple.Perched on a hill overlooking Udaipur, the Karni Mata Temple is a surprise in the best way. The walk up was a bit of a workout, but the views were totally worth it. You can also take a cool ropeway if you're short on time. The temple itself is beautiful - all intricate carvings and marble. The history behind it is fascinating - it's dedicated to Karni Mata, a revered figure believed to be an incarnation of Durga. There's even a legend about special rats living here that are considered sacred! It's definitely a unique experience, and one I won't forget.Written May 31, 2024

- Destination6662110 contributionsA Rip of the Jungle Jeep Safari experieneOur experience of the Jungle Jeep Safari was a total disaster. The driver did not really take us in a jungle or forest area. He practically drove on some paved roads then about 35-40% on narrow bumpy trails containing rocks, stones and dirt. Which could create someone neck and/or spine injuries. We could not see even a single animal where he stopped in open areas far away from the Jungle or forest. Their fee is high and not worth for the money.Written March 6, 2024

- brightfw0 contributionsThrillingBumpy road from vandiperiyar, mostly full of lemongrass forest ride. Dangerous off road drive, with no roads. One way muddy track created by jeep's of jeep safari. On the way to from kumily, we can see huge view points. On the day of our visit, misty clouds were passing through us in a view point. There are tea gardens, Elaichi estates, guava gardens, etc. The off road drive is over muddy mountains,so patients should be avoided.Written May 7, 2019
- JeanetteEpp0 contributionsSilk Tour and Old BangaluruI had the opportunity to visit parts of the city that I never would have visited on my own as a solo traveler. From a great breakfast to touring the flower market, I felt safe at all times and I also appreciated how the craftsmen and artisans were also respectfully treated. The silk making process was fascinating and I enjoyed the chance to see several of the steps in creating the beautiful woven product. Shopping for silk scarves, shawls and sarees were an extra treat at the end.Written April 14, 2019
- John G0 contributionsAvoid priests and celebrantsPushkar's lake is beautiful. The priests and consorts who entice you to make an offering, or puja, by the lake side are aiming solely at your money. They will bless all your family members you are summoned to name, before being asked how much you are prepared to donate for the fulfilment of your wish. The answer is obviously “All I have!”, not to be confused with the realistic donation the priest ought to expect for his services. Don’t let yourself be confused by this unholy mix between remuneration for the celebrant and the worth of the blessings promised from heaven.Written March 27, 2019

- Achaiahcs0 contributionsA refreshing experience!I wanted to try something really different this time for my upcoming trip to Munnar. So I googled for some unique activities in Munnar and I came across Wandertrails. It was such a discovery! They have so many unique things to do in different places. For Munnar and being a fan of drinking tea, I chose a tea tasting experience in a plantation stay. Tony was such an amazing host and he taught me so much. I got to taste many varieties of tea too including some rare ones. I have now started appreciating the work that goes into bringing the tea into our cups. I recommend you try this activity with Wandertrails to add a new spin to your holiday. Something refreshing and new has always lasted longer in my memory. You should try the same.Written February 22, 2019

- Nandakumaran19630 contributionsFreshness AvailableWhile at Mangaladass, got this wonderful opportunity to visit the market as well. Fruits and vegetables here are indeed fresh and was told that they are freshly delivered from farms and orchards within the area. Besides the fruits and vegetable, one can also purchase various spices in both pure form and grinded for use. Raisins, Almond and various nuts and dry fruits are available for selection at a very reasonable pricing.Written December 5, 2018
