After pickup from your Delhi hotel or Delhi airport, settle into your private, air-conditioned vehicle and venture south toward Keoladeo National Park, formerly called Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
Pass by India’s farmlands and villages, and on arrival at Keoladeo, settle into a comfortable, shaded cycle rickshaw pedalled by an expert guide for your tour.
One of the world’s most important bird breeding and feeding havens, this UNESCO-listed park was a duck-hunting reserve for India’s maharajahs, and now harbors more than 370 species of birds and animals, including storks, deer, and antelope. Follow the tracks around the marshlands, scrub, and lakes and watch for the thousands of birds that visit here.
Look for everything from rare Siberian cranes, grey heron, and cormorants to pelicans, storks, hawks, and eagles, as your guide provides fascinating information about the various species.
After about three hours, leave Keoladeo and break for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant before making the roughly 1.5-hour journey to Agra.
On arrival, enjoy some free time to relax and freshen up before your visit to the UNESCO-listed Taj Mahal: the mausoleum built between 1631 and 1648 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Step out at the gardens and marvel at your first glimpse of the shimmering marble domes and minarets. Then, walk to the terrace and inspect this intricately carved marble edifice as you learn about the love story behind its creation.
After seeing the Taj, enjoy some shopping time in Agra. Browse and buy souvenirs (own expense) from shops selling the city’s famous marble and stone carvings, leather, brassware, and embroidery before relaxing on your drive back to Delhi.
Your tour then ends with an evening hotel or airport drop-off.
