About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Resort181911902180 contributionsInto the heart of Old Delhi. Our rickshaw driver had to deal with the chaotic traffic, which he did with ease. A great experience as he manoeuvred the very heavy rickshaw through narrow streets. We really felt that we had a good understanding of Old Delhi. Our tour guide, Neil was informative, showing us the Sikh temple and the mosque, as well as the variety of bazaars en route. His commentary which we had on our headsets was just right. Pointing out the highlights but not too intrusive. A great team and we throughly enjoyed our morning visit.Written September 30, 2024
- Inspiration6585500 contributionsWonderful Old Delhi experience with "When In India" Rickshaw toursThis is an excellent tour and recommended to anyone looking to understand the rich history of Old Delhi. I did the tour with four kids with age groups ranging from 12-18 and they had an amazing time hearing the stories from Mughal times and visiting the various bazaars. The tour is very professionally run with thoughtful pullers who are great at anticipating every need (they supplied plenty of cold water on a hot day, provided tissues for cleaning hands and hand cleaners). Also, it is worth doing with a guide and for anyone looking for one - go with Ahmer. He is well informed of the history, incredibly personable and knows every bit of Old Delhi. On me next visit, I am looking to do a food tour with him.Written July 18, 2024

- R867BKdavida0 contributionsCustomized Half-Day New Delhi Tour by When In India ToursWe had a short stay in New Delhi and wanted to book a half day tour for specific sites. We browsed the internet looking for a tour that met our requirements and didn't find one. Then we found When In India tours and found that they would allow us to define our own half day tour. Ritu Kaira was extremely responsive and we booked they exact tour that we wanted. (Our tour included the Gurudwara Bangla Saheb, Humayun Tomb, Lodhi Gardens, and National Crafts Museum}. Mr. Neil was our guide and I don't remember the drivers name. Mr. Neil was very knowledgeable, gave us many insights, and allowed us to set the pace at each of sites that we visited. He added to our requested sites by including Kutub Minar (which was wonderful) and other drive-by sites. He gave us a least an hour beyond the contracted length of the tour. We were very happy with When In India tours and with Mr. Neil as our guide.Written April 18, 2024

- arudolph20180 contributionsA wonderful introduction to Old DelhiWe all loved our tour of Old Delhi with Ritu and the rickshaw drivers. They took very good care of 3 very jet-lagged visitors during our tour and lunch break. Providing headsets so we could all hear the guide's narrative was an excellent idea and distinguishes this tour company from all the others we encountered during our visit to India. I especially enjoyed the spice market and was very glad I had a face mask as I inhaled the pungent odors. I highly recommend this tour for all visitors to Delhi.Written March 25, 2024
- mmyatt017570 contributionsWe had a wonderful, very customized tour not on the list. Tailored for us.Neil and his driver met us promptly at our hotel. We didn't do a rickshaw ride because our upcoming group tour had one. Neil customized our trip with New Delhi experiences, a farther away Jain temple, the Gandhi Memorial, the Bahai Faith temple and other unique experiences. He was very attentive and knowledgeable. I recommend Neil and "When in India Tours"Written February 24, 2024

- nicoladD7909UU0 contributionsA super insight into Delhi for all agesWhat a fabulous tour. The rickshaw drivers were super, so friendly and caring. Riti our guide was a font of knowledge. I’m still taking her advice on food now. We had young children in our group and they were so well catered for. We were 12-80 in age and all loved every second of our tour. We can’t wait to return to learn and experience more with you. Delhi you have my heart. Nicola - England.Written January 31, 2024
- AktaP20140 contributionsFun day in old DelhiWe had a great time on our tour. Kids loved seeing old delhi by rickshaw. My son enjoyed the food tasting and my daughter loved picking out the mango tea from the spice market. The tour guide was great I would highly recommend this tour if you want a glimpse of old Delhi but don’t want to walk through the street.Written January 25, 2024
- NorthStar401304729950 contributionsExceptional Tour of Taj MahalWe booked a tour with Taru for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We had only 3 nights and 4 days and with Taru's immaculate planning, we could see amd experience much more than we would have managed to do in a week. What we loved about her was that she did not give us a pre made itinerary like most of the agents do. Rather she discussed our preferences and interests with us over a couple of zoom calls. Our first day and night was spent in Delhi. We started our day with a Old Delhi and rode its colorful streets on some lovely looking and safe rickshaws. We were shown various places and also given details about interesting facts about the historical city. The best thing was that they used wireless audio headsets (which were super helpful as our guide was on a separate rickshaw) without which, I cant imagine seeing old delhi. We also sampled some delicious authentic food. The second half we were driven around New Delhi and we saw Gandhi Memorial, Presidents House, India Gate, Connought Place, step well and Qutub Minar monument. I must say that our New Delhi guide was smart and made sure that we avoided traffic and saw maximum places. On the 2nd day, we drove early morning to Agra using the expressway. Our guide in Agra was quite knowledgeable and ensured that we have the best views of the Taj Mahal. He helped us to take lovely pictures from different angles and different light. Since we were really focussed on Taj, he also took us on the other side of the city so that we could see it from across the river. I must say that the Taj Mahal looks stunning! We went to the Agra fort, baby Taj, walked around in the old bazaars. On our 3rd day we left for Jaipur early morning. Post noon, we saw some old Havelis in Jaipur, visited the wind palace, bought some colorful indian clothes from local markets and ended the day by having dinner in a royal palace! Next day we visited the Amer fort. We wanted to see elephants, so Taru had organised an activity for us where we could feed and spend some time with some elephants. The elephants were in a good surrounding and were taken good care of by the managers. All this time, our vehicle and driver were good. Taru was in constant touch with the driver and guides and ensured that everything went smoothly. We are now back and have beautiful memories of the trip. We are all impressed with Tarus management anf planning skills! We are already planning our next trip with her in which we want to see the Royal Tigers :-))Written January 19, 2024

- Inspire5728220 contributionsSpices and scents tourWe had a fantastic private tour with When in Delhi. We chose the Spice and Scents tour and enjoyed our trip to the spice market and scent shop with the chance to purchase spices, teas and scents. And also had the opportunity to see all the best of old Delhi. Highlights included a visit to the kitchen of the Sikh temple, climbing the towers at the Jama Masjid and travelling in the rickshaw through the crowded streets. Ahmer was a fantastic guide and gave us lots of time and had a huge amount of local and historical knowledge. We felt very grateful to have such a high quality guideWritten November 19, 2023

This was a terrific way to experience one of the most stimulating places on the planet. From ancient religious sites to bustling market squares and streets to tucked-away alleys full of architectural gems and tasty treats - our knowledgeable guide and charming bicycle-rickshaw drivers ensured that we saw it all. We moved between different areas by rickshaw, which allowed us to take everything in, and hopped off to wander around sites, streets and stalls. A wonderful morning!

We enjoyed a fabulous tour of Old Delhi by Rickshaw. This was a multi generational trip from grand parents to grand children and everyone loved it! Our guide Ritu was amazing and the hard set meant we could easily hear the commentary about the fabulous buildings, history and shops. I would highly recommend this tour and our guide to anyone who visits Delhi!

We were blown away on our recent trip to India and our many tours and sites visited. But one of the highlights was our rickshaw tour of Old Delhi with Eshita as our tour guide. It was truly eye-popping fascinating and awesome and highly recommended. We traveled through narrow alleyways to see the hustle bustle of Old Delhi- spice sellers, sari makers, wedding dresses, bangles and jewelry, foods and snacks. It was truly jaw dropping! Eshita shared the history of Delhi and her knowledge of the bazaar and answered all our many questions. We got to visit a chai tea specialist who's been in the same narrow alleyway for over 50 years selling his delicious Masala chai tea. And it was great! It made us feel like we were seeing Old Delhi and experiencing Delhi in an authentic way that will remain one of our most vivid and remarkable vacation memories.

This tour is a great way to explore Old Delhi. Naresh, the tour guide, knows a lot about the city and can transfer his knowledge very well. Old Delhi is very busy en very overwhelming, and this guided tour is a good way to make the most of the experience.

This was a truly memorable experience and a highlight of our time in India. I highly recommend this tour. Don't miss it. Neil was our guide, and he was one of the best tour guides on our trip. The rickshaw drivers are incredible. You go all over through back alleys and bazaars, and see things you would otherwise likely miss. There is a great headset system to hear the guide clearly, which was a huge help. The rickshaws are very comfortable. We stopped several times for tours of major sites. The Sikh Temple was very moving. You get to see them cooking food and serving the public. We also stopped for Indian street food, and watched it being prepared for us! You couldn't ask for more on a tour like this.

This rickshaw tour of Old Delhi with Naresh was the perfect starting excursion for our family’s recent trip to northern India. As passengers on a rickshaw bike dodging in and out of animal, foot, and motor traffic through narrow streets and alleyways, we were able to experience up close the unbridled energy and intensity of the day-to-day traffic and commerce of the old city. Navesh provided helpful historical background on key sites, stopped at interesting jewelry and tea/spice shops, and took us to sample delicious street food. This is a must-do excursion!

Had a great time with Ritu for this experience. The headsets were so appreciated! Even with the crazy hustle and bustle during Diwali I felt so informed and safe. The lunch stop was one of my favorite meals during my entire 10 day trip!

This was a fantastic, unforgettable, delightful, and amazing tour. Don't miss it. This was one of the highlights of our two weeks in India. Neil was our guide and he was the best. The drivers are amazing and the sights are incredible. You go through back alleys and various markets and see things you wouldn't see on your own. There is a great headset system to hear the guide clearly. The rickshaws are very comfortable. We stopped for Indian street food which was another highlight. You do get to disembark and visit the best places for photo opportunities. You couldn't ask for more on a tour like this.

On our first day in Delhi we went on the most fantastic Rickshaw tour of Old Delhi. Our guide Ahmer, was very interesting and very well informed. We packed a huge amount in considering the time, and our driver was very patient and hard working. We would recommend this to everyone.

This was recommended to us by friends who had taken the tour, and we were not disappointed. The center of Old Delhi is crowded and hard to really see on your own, so this tour by rickshaw with headsets is really the best way to see it. For the record, I generally avoid tours and formal tour guides, except when they are really key to making the experience worthwhile, and this is one of those situations.
