This park is located close to the world heritage Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple. You time will be perfectly managed when all three places are covered within one day. Bunches of Elephants can be seen in their natural behavior and visitors will be amazed to see hundreds in bunch. You will be transferred by a off-road/ 4WD jeep which is specially designed for outdoor activities like this. Out chauffeurs speak good English and equipped with good local knowledge. You will not regret about the decision after completing the tour.
There are two National Parks located within close proximity. They are Minneriya & Kaudaulla National Park. Normally the Elephants are switching between two parks during the different months of the year depending on the rain situation and the level of the water of the lakes inside the parks. We will advise the guests about the best location to witness the Elephants on the particular time period and proceed to the relevant park with guest's approval.

- rowena c00Fun Filled Fabulous DayThis was a full day out with lots of amazing activities. Our guide Nilanka was very knowledgeable and helpful. We loved the spice garden, sigiriya and the safari especially! We saw so many elephants. It was magical. This is a long day jam packed with walking and sight seeing! We fell asleep on the journey back to kandy! You need cash to pay for things on the day. It was our first full day in Sri Lanka and we had miscalculated conversion from $ to rupees, however this wasn’t an issue as Nilanka kindly took us to an ATM.

Dilshi in particular was SO helpful with arranging drivers from each of our destinations to take us safely to the next one. Dilshi was available to chat to us whenever to help us with these arrangements, which was really helpful considering some of our trips were booked at late notice. We also did a safari at Udawalawe with Mahaweli which was really great, with everything we needed catered for. The prices also seemed reasonable for each of our trips, and all of the drivers were very professional. Would definitely recommend using Mahaweli. Heavy rain broke party of the road couple of days before the day we were supposed to take the train. We disi not know if we could make it. We had day to day updates from Geesara, also options of solutions if ever the train could not work. Finally, we were lucky enough to take the train as the road got fixed. All is taken cared; the tickets were delivered early morning to our hotel. Absolutely no problem in the train. We got 2nd class reserved seat and it’s really worth it. The views were stunning! A must do on your trip.

- Debbie A00Gorgeous day driving across Sri Lanka.Sanchita was a super wonderful informative guide and driver. Took us on a jeep Safari (had to cut short due to times constraint). Saw some elephants :) then off to view Sigiriya (no time to climb stairs) and Golden Temple Dambulla (no time for caves). All in all, a good day, purely due to our driver, he was very apologetic and disappointed for us to rush. Saw some beautiful country scenery, some radical drivers, and many police. It was a shame there is absolutely no capacity this tour can be done in the stipulated 6-9 hours as it is approx 6 hour round trip. This should be revised! The included lunch was not possible again due to no time.

We Cannot praise Mahawelli Tours enough. We have just come home form 14 days touring Sri Lanka and thanks to Mahawelli we have had the most memorable experience. From my first communication with Prasad, we were guided and advised on things do and see. We faced delays with the start of our holiday due to flight delays, which meant we missed our train to Kandy. Prasad quickly arranged transport for us, which waited 4 hours for us to arrive. On day 1 we met Gamlath, he was our guide for our first week in central province. He was amazing, he listened to our needs, explained everything to us on our excursions clearly and made our hole experience more memorable. The vehicle was very comfortable and the right size for us and all our luggage, including the oversized surfing equipment. The highlight for our stay was definitely Minneriya, seeing the amazing elephants including babies! We also visited Sigiriya and Dambulla, the Veddah people and a fabulous day in and around Kandy doing the sights, all fabulous. We changed our travel plans in the end of our holiday because of the professional service we had received, booking our onward transport to Hikkiduwa with Mahiwelli and then our final airport transport. The roads and driving in Sri Lanka are crazy, it is most certainly an experience, we felt totally safe with Gamleth at all times. A massive thank you to Prasad and Gamlath for making our holiday amazing!

They will pick you up from the parking with a jeep and drive 15 min to the lake where the elephant herds are coming. It was a very pleasant experience.

It was a great experience at the national park. Weather was a bit rainy. Roads were muddy. But at last we could see many elephants in herds. We had also seen birds, peacock, eagles and even few jackles.
