The cooking experience was excellent. Neela was very helpful, explained everything well and helped us produce a fabulous meal.
We paid extra for the market which involved walking down the hill to the corner fruit and veg stall for a few items so that part was disappointing.
Cooking outdoors with traditional cooking methods was a great experience.
Pick up was organised easily and communication was great. You can nominate what time you want to do the class. We opted for 5pm and received a message that the tuk tuk was on it's way just before 5. Organised and payment sorted.
On arrival we walked to the shop then we're given a short tour and talk about the village and medicinal uses of the Ayurveda school and products they grow for medicine.
We were then taken to the small kitchen, introduced to the chef and provided with aprons and cup of tea. There were 2 of us which was comfortable in the space.
Cooking was fun, easy and hands-on. Amazing that 7 dishes could be cooked within an hour.
We sat down to eat and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Throughout the process Manju introduced us, explained the process, took several photos and spoke to us while we ate.
There was the usual encouragement to purchase products (very expensive) and do a review on the spot as well as to have a massage afterwards.
Recipes and photos were sent to us via WhatsApp and we were safely seen into a tuk tuk at the end, via the shop.
All in all it was a great experience and we enjoyed learning to cook the various dishes and eating them.
It was very expensive for what it was and l don't recommend including the village market as it really didn't exist (nor did a cocktail or beer).

Communication from the Kandy Spice Walk 101 was very good. Asked about dietary requirements. You can choose the time you want the class. Manju was a wonderful host - explained things in excellent English and was very welcoming. Neela, the cook who gave the class, was amazing - organised, involved us and was charming. We cooked 7 dishes - all delicious - so much food!
We paid $15 dollars extra for ‘the village market visit’- we walked down to the local vegetable stall and back - underwhelming. We walked through a spice garden with explanations - good.
The cooking class was thoroughly enjoyable - great space, good ingredients.
After the meal, we were encouraged to buy some herbal medicines - expensive but they weren’t pushy. Safely seen to our return tuktuk.
Really great food and cooking experience but expensive. (Don’t do the village market extra).

An amazing experience! We cooked 7 beautiful dishes, all guided by our fabulous chef who took her time to talk us through all of the ingredients. Everything is locally grown, which added to the fresh taste. Excellently catered for all dietary needs, and made a cooking experience in a foreign country for a nut allergy sufferer thoroughly enjoyable. A must do when in Kandy!!

We can highly recommend the cooking class. The hosts are very friendly and explain the individual ingredients and dishes very well. The organization of the transport (there and back) also worked out great. The selected dishes were perfectly coordinated and very tasty. We would come again.

Great experience with nice, kind and friendly people. They showed us how to cook a very tasty meal. They even gave me a herbal drink for my stomach pains i had earlier. They support the students in the city and they use only natural products for everything.
Tip: Book the cooking course before 4 pm otherwise it starts to get dark.

We are a group of 10 who travel often and have attended cooking classes worldwide. This one exceeded expectations. The staff went above and beyond to provide an authentic experience. They were incredibly helpful when severe rain could dampened (lol) the experience. You can’t miss this when visiting Kandy!

We had a good experience at the Kandy Spice Walk 101. Agni guided us through the Spice garden and told us about the spices and coconuts that grow here. He was patiënt and kind. The Spice tour was followed by a cooking class. We learned to make coconut sambal and dahl curry. Afterwards we got the ingredients and how to make the curry on a paper. The cooking class showed the basics of making a curry. It takes not very long but shows all the basics.

They offered to give us a massage which we loved. At the end you can give a donation or buy something from their store. We decided not to buy anything but give a donation for the tour and the massage. This was perfectly fine. We donated 1500 LKR which we think is a good deal for the tour, cooking class and massage. We recommend.

Dear Madam, I guess you have mistakenly posted this review. This is the Kandy Authentic Cooking Class. I guess you have visited the Kandy Spice Walk. Not the Authentic Cooking Class where we cook 8 dishes with you for dinner. Thank you

Very entertaining and fun experience! It was our first time taking a cooking class and it was beyond our expectations. The chef was patient and knowledgeable. The food was amazing!! All the hosts were extremely kind and helpful, they even organized a free pickup and return to our hotel.
The class and eating lasted about 2h (not 3h as written), but for us, that was enough. The only thing we missed was the promised srilankan coctail/beer - we got tea.

We recommend it, it doesn’t matter if you are amazing at cooking or an amateur:D you will have fun!

We had an amazing experience. We had introduction to Ayurveda plants and its powers in healing. We had some relaxing massage. This was totally unexpected but really awesome experience that we got more than we paid for. The cooking part as amazing. We made a lot of different curries while trying the ingredients and were involved in all cooking process. And what me made was the best curries we’ve tasted while being in Sri Lanka.
