You will be starting your tour around 8:30am from your hotel in Kandy. The chauffeur guide will pick you up and take you on a scenic drive to the village. Once you get there one of the villagers will meet you and take you around the village. You will be able to converse with some of the villagers and learn about their lifestyle. They will then take you to the fields of their crops, the palm estates and their fruit orchards so that you can see how they plant and harvest their crops. The locals in the area traditionally grow spices such as Cocoa, Pepper, Cloves, Nutmeg and Vanilla; in addition to their other fruits and vegetables. So you will also be able to find good deals on spices here. Jaggery, the delicious natural sweetener used by the villagers, is made from the Kithul palm tree; and you will be able to watch the process. At approximately 10am, you will be leaving for the river banks. The villagers bathe and wash their clothes along the banks. You will be able to wet your feet, or even take a dip if you bring a towel and change of clothes. There is also a rocky natural pool that you can swim in and splash about. After spending some time at the river, you will be going on the last leg of the tour; the hike to the waterfall. This newest addition to the tour can be quite challenging for children, and they have to be supervised at all times. You will be traveling over rough, slippery and occasionally steep terrain as you take the trail to the waterfall; which is hidden deep within the jungle near the village. After hiking for about a kilometer, you will find yourself at the attractively gushing falls. The guide will advise you not to get too close unless it is from a safe area that he knows of. Please follow this advice for safety purposes. You will spend approximately half an hour enjoying the sight and fresh spray of the waterfall. You will then move back to the village and be introduced to a local family, who will give you a half hour cooking demonstration on traditional Sri Lankan cooking. The demonstration will also allow you to make your own attempt at cooking a Sri Lankan dish. You will be having lunch right after at 12:15pm. Lunch will be a buffet of perfectly cooked rice with 6 traditionally cooked Sri Lankan curries and fresh fried fish. You will also have a green salad and crunchy papadum, practically an essential addition for meals in most Sri Lankan and Indian homes After the rather relaxing meal, you can spend some time in the village at your ease and drive back to your hotel Your tour will come to an end at 1:30pm when you're dropped off back in Kandy.

          Great driver and great experience!
Fantastic safari with our driver Asela! We saw so many animals - loads of elephants, some foxes, eagles, water buffalo and lots of other birds. The scenery is beautiful. Asela has great English and was very knowledgeable about the elephants and could answer all of our questions. Would definitely recommend!

Asela was a brilliant guide - he took care of us and everything for the day! We must have seen 80+ elephants and plenty other animals during the safari.

Go early and avoid holy days
Buddha’s tooth was apparently snatched from his funeral pyre and smuggled in to Sri Lanka by a princess and here it is kept in a casket and is considered very holy. People come to make offerings and hope their prayers are answered. Beautiful flowers are sold at many stalls outside. One must not take photos of anyone in front of the buddhas. There is a memorial to a faithful elephant and people can light incense sticks for loved ones. Most people wear white. All must show respect by covering legs and shoulders. Shoes are not worn in the whole complex. 200 rupees to have them looked after. Go early and avoid holy days.

          Great service
Having read other travellers’ experiences of not being able to secure train tickets we didn’t want to take any chances so book them in advance. The tickets came through via email and the agent was great and made regular contact via WhatsApp - even to check we were safely on the train. The train ride was great (only 1.5 hours late which we understand is quite good!) We booked first class seats as thought we would need the air conditioning but as it’s much cooler due to the altitude 2nd class would have bern equally good with the added benefit of being able to open the windows to take photos. However we could move around the train and were able to take plenty of photos of the magnificent views.

Just need a driver for this Tour.
You don’t really a tour guide for this booking. Just a driver if you’re coming from Kandy. The view is amazing and not that far. Get a Tuk Tuk motor cart to reach the top.

Great Safari Experience in Minneriya National Park!
We had a wonderful time exploring Minneriya National Park with our driver, Asela. The guided tour was excellent, and we were lucky to see a lot of elephants. They were close by and Asela stopped at the right spots so we could watch them very good. We also saw monkeys, a deer and eagles during our visit. Asela was a knowledgeable and courteous guide who shared interesting insights about the park and its wildlife. The jeep we used for the safari was comfortable and allowed us to stand in the back for a better view, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also appreciated the small touches, like having water available during the tour. Overall, we were very satisfied with the experience and would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

          Fantastic Seats
Our five star hotel in Kandy let me know about the Perahera and was offering tickets but never responded to be when I asked to buy some. I then turned to Lakpura LLC. Mewan immediately responded and subsequent communication with his staff was excellent. We ended up with fantastic front row seats in the Queen’s Hotel Corridor. Not only did we get the best views for photos but the seating was also converted which came in handy as it was sometimes drizzling. We also had access to a toilet as the ceremony was long. Sure we paid a lot but it was worth it for such good seats to one of Buddhism’s holiest and most colourful festivals. Pro tip: bring water and snacks. Thanks very much Lakpura.

          Highly recommend this trip!
Highly recommend this trip, we had a private safari in a very comfortable jeep. Our guide was informative and patient, and drove sensibly and considerately of the elephants. We saw so many elephants and had plenty of time to take photos, videos and just sit and watch them. We were able to get really close without intruding on their space. Was an amazing experience and a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.

          Excellent birdwatching experience!
I was surprised having such a great birdwatching experience just outside of Colombo. Really good wetland with many birds. And Chinthaka is a guide with deep knowledge, which is not easy to find in Sri Lanka!

          Absolutely worth it!!!!
AMAZING with capital letters! The view, the trail, the incredible tea scent in the air and on top of them all, Vishwa, our guide made sure that also two unexperienced bikers like us would get the most of this wonderful journey.
