About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Cprtraining0 contributionsAn interesting day out. Glacier is small but surrounded by amazing views and how many of your friends have been to 5000mWe booked with one company but they seem to add groups together sometimes to fill a bus. Our guide was not very good, and spoke allot in Spanish, but quite repetitive. Booking was 40 soles. We stopped after an hour like every group I think, at a restaurant to book food for on the way back. That restaurant must get 150 people through in mid afternoon return trip. The food was not the best. Ropey chicken and half cooked chips n rice. Not worth 30 soles. Safer to take your own food and have a nice meal in Huaraz. The restaurant is next to an old gold mine from 40 yrs ago with all the slag pilled up on the river-side . The scenery was lovely as you got closer and you feel the altitude at 5000 m. You can take a small horse up to half way, but nor all the way.cost 15 sols each way. 10 min ride. The walk is a struggle on paved path all the way. Take a warm coat and hat. On the way they have it all organized so you meet a campasina with 2 Lamas for a foto shoot :). A long drive, but it is interesting looking at the views and the life of people from this area. Choose a sunny day if you can.Written September 28, 2024
- 769ameeg0 contributionsFriendly and safe experience, but with some caveats. Recommend. My partner and I used them to book our summits. Overall, the company was very friendly, accommodating, and provided overall good experiences. However, there are some naunces. My partner ha the difficult request of wanting to complete the Pisco summit in 2 days rather than 3 and unfortunately the 2nd customer who was going to do it dropped out. The company was willing to continue the summit. We didn't understand that his guide was a guide-in-training and didn't speak English. I've been forcing my partner to learn Spanish for the past 3 years so it was a great learning experience for him and fortunately the summit went well without any safety issues. My summit of Matteo since is less challenging, had a lot more customers and certified guides. My guides were super friendly, on-time, and accommodating. My only caveat that each customer should educate themselves on each trek or mountain summit to understand what they're signing up for. In addition, each customer should ensure that their guide is certified for their own safety. I highly recommend this company!Written August 27, 2024
- christophercG3998BN0 contributionsso sorequested english speaking guide but he didn’t speak any english, we stopped for food after half an hr even though tour started at 9, missed all the commentary as was in spanish. stopped half an hr away from huarez to eat on the way back (why?) , was ok but would book a diff one than this if u don’t know much spanishWritten July 1, 2024
- meiyuanl20240 contributionsGreat Santa Cruz trekI had an incredible experience with Andean Summit on the 4-day Santa Cruz trek. Manager Mila went above and beyond by arranging 4 horses and even a dog to accompany us, which added a delightful and unique element to our adventure. The views along the trek were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Andean landscape. To top it all off, the cost was very reasonable, making this an unbeatable value. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable trekking experience!Written June 19, 2024
- 717jimmyx0 contributionsSummit the Mateo PeakWe have been in Huraze for 6 days and Andean Summit arranged all our activities. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the ascent of Mateo peak. The climb was exhilarating and challenging, but Andean Summit’s expert guidance made it achievable. They provided all the necessary climbing gear, which was in excellent condition, and our 3 guides' expertise were invaluable in navigating the icy slopes and ensuring we reached the summit safely. Standing atop Mateo peak, surrounded by panoramic views of the Andes, was a moment we’ll cherish forever.Written June 17, 2024
- travelbug9200 contributionsSee this glacier before it’s gone. This tour included several interesting stops before we did the hike to the glacier. Most of the tourists on the bus were Peruvian so the guide spoke in Spanish primarily. Once we asked some questions in English we realized he spoke very well and after that he was happy to explain things in English for us. The hike itself is not long and on a well maintained path. The altitude however is challenging so make sure you have acclimatized in Huaraz before doing this trip. There are ropes showing where the glacier was 3 years ago. It’s sad to see the obvious effect of climate change.Written May 11, 2024
- 998florianh0 contributionsMoney greed and bad valuesMoney above customer service. Very unpleasant experience. We (group of european travellers) had seen the decent review on google and thought we were in good hands to book a transport to laguna churup. We were ripped off. We were told by them that 50 Soles would be the normal price go to there. I understand that on the street people try to overcharge you based on negotiation, but not in a legitimate agency like theirs. We also were about to book far more expensive summit tours with them… They put us in a “collectivo” which is a bus with 12+ people where we almost had to wait for an hour in the morning. Also, in the bus we realised when talking to all the other people the normal price is 20 SOLES and for groups even less!!! When we confronted them after the trip they were incredibly unprofessional and poor with communication, even though we were very respectful with telling them. We didn’t get any money refunded. Choose another agency with honest values.Written July 29, 2023
- 105takui0 contributionsAlpamayo HCThank you dear Mila and my guide Celestino. They offered me a 5 day program to the beautiful Alpamayo High Camp at a good price. The guide was friendly and informative, and the food on site was like a restaurant. I hope this helps many climbers. thank you. TAKUWritten May 23, 2023
- Ronan F0 contributionsSanta Cruz trekWonderful experience all around. Attentionate guides, sublime vistas, nice and varied food during this 4-day trek. Briefing the day before, and gear provided made things easy. Transportation and pickup from/to the hotel was really nice.Written May 21, 2023

- mr_vennie0 contributionsBreathtaking mountains and amazing wild lifeThe Santa cruz trek is amazing and it is not very demanding. The views are amazing. As you are walking below the 6k mountains, you feel so small. Also the wild life in the valley is breathtaking: never saw so many wild horses, donkeys, cows, lamas, hummingbirds,... And as a bonus at the end you can go to local aqua caliente.Written May 23, 2022
- sowing-sunshine0 contributionsEpic AdventuresBooked two hiking adventures with Andean Summit, rented climbing gear for Los Olivos, and had some incredible experiences. I was especially pleased to spend time chatting with Mila and her daughter to get beta on all of the many trekking/climbing areas. She spent a lot of time discussing all of our options, and she had awesome advice. The prices were great (the gear rentals were slightly cheaper than the place around the corner) and we were provided with any and all camping supplies for our multi-day trek. Our guide for Quilcayhuanca was accommodating and kind, and he makes a fabulous plate of spaghetti. Trekking through Huascaran National Park was quite easily one of my favorite experiences in Peru, and those turquoise lagoons are simply stunning! Pro Tip: Altitude sickness SUCKS- acclimate, acclimate, ACCLIMATE, and train your body with smaller treks before diving into crazy elevation gains. We were coming from the coast of Lima and did not spend enough time in Huaraz acclimating. This turned one of our multi-day treks into an epic failure. Buy acetazolamide (Diamox) at a pharmacy before your arrival, and start taking it the day before you ascend.Written August 27, 2021
- delferriere0 contributionsAndean Summit for All !We did Vallunaraju with Andean Summit and it was a unique experience ! Accommodating, helpful, professional and quality service. If you are looking for an outdoor activities near from huaraz, Andean Summit is for you!Written June 27, 2021
- 508anniee0 contributionsGreat Tour, Bad Organization.I loved the tour, but I can’t recommend booking it via Andean Summit. 1) It is more expensive than booking e.g. in a hostel in Huaraz. 2) They postponed my start of the tour. For “compensation” they offered me a “discount” on another tour which turned out to be the normal price. Besides, I could negotiate a free night in their hostel (Sleep & Summit). It was the worst hostel I ever slept in (no windows, no hot water, far from the city center). 3) They told me I would not need cash. However, I had to pay 60 soles for the entrance of the park.Written February 15, 2020

The tour bus picked us up on time and although most of the other tourists were Peruvian the guide made sure to give us information in English. His instructions on how to tackle the hike and our time limitations were very clear. He checked in with us several times during the hike to make sure we were doing okay. The hike itself is strenuous especially with the altitude but the views are well worth it!!

Andean Summit was very helpful with the booking of this tour and another one. Communication was outstanding. It was easy for me to step on to the tour bus from Yungay which saved me hours. The trek to the Lagune takes some motivation because it's quite demanding but the rewards are manyfold. The price is excellent for the service. Thank you!
