- 249allisona0 contributionsVery funnyEntertaining and wonderful place to visit. This oasis is southern Peru and easy to get to. You will like it.Written March 13, 2020
- S57Tjay0 contributionsAn adventureIt was a very fun tour, the driver was very nice ( sorry I forgot his name). And it's not that expensive, but for the another day we wanted do sandboard again, we just rented our tables.Written February 16, 2020
- mpia02150 contributionsSo much fun! This was super fun! It was crazy exciting going up and down the dunes but I love every second of it! We also get to sand board and that was awesome too! I was a bit scared but got over it pretty quickly! Didn’t have any problems with sand going to my face, but if you wanna be safe there are some locals who sells them. Our sand buggy and boarding was part of the whole tour package so we didn’t have to option of the company. But there are lots of choices once you’re in Huacachina.Written November 13, 2019
- Grzegorz G0 contributionsDepends on the driverMy driver was hanging on his phone, so we did not spent too much time actually riding. People in other cars seemed to have more funWritten November 6, 2019
- Richard H0 contributionsFun afternoonGo for the 4pm your to see the sunset. We were there in low season and it cost S30 each for two hours. The boards were in bad condition though and some were super slow, so it might be worth paying a little more. The buggy is fun, but you want a good driver in a newer car, ours was super oldWritten October 12, 2019
- wilsonalex090 contributionsBEWARE...My girlfriend and I are both very adventurous and love risks. We both do extreme sports and the rest but this was something else. I wouldn’t do it again I was scared shitless of the driver the entire time. You’re ripping around the dunes half falling out over cliffs and literally 80 degree slopes and it’s very unsafe. We were glad when it was over but if that’s your jam then go for it. Having said that we paid the extra money and got actual snowboards and boots from a local shop and it was a blast on the dunes but you can still do that without buggying by hiking the dunes beside the oasis.Written October 11, 2019
- Vikrowe0 contributionsMust doWe had a great few hours going through the sand dunes and then sand boarding down them. Not for the faint hearted but also not to be missed.Written September 24, 2019
- Irina G0 contributionsWorth to see !Incredible experience , safe and funny ! Everything well organized and views are memorable ! IOnly No No --- dont buy tour on the street, buy it ONLY at certified touristic offices.Written September 3, 2019
- isabellapx_0 contributionsAbsolutely wild. One of my favourite things I’ve done so far in Peru! The buggy is like a rollercoaster and has some of the most amazing views of the desert (without having to walk up). 100% recommend. It’s a must do!Written August 6, 2019
- 507nanneh0 contributionsBuggy was fine, sandboarding poor. There we went for two hours. A buggy loaded with 16 tourists among nearly 500 buggies of the same type. Raging through the sand, downhill. It was a nice trip. Buckeled up going up and down in this desert. At three points we were allowed out. So we could take pictures. At the same time, all other buggies were trying to catch the best shot. However, we weren’t at the real busy places. When we stopped for sandboarding, a really poor set of wooden boards was presented. We sat doen and were pushed from the hill. No excitement. There was no possibility to strap your feet properly, since the gear had been worn out.Written July 22, 2019
- TheMomentHumansBlink0 contributionsDefinitely not to miss ...Visiting Huacachina without doing the Buggy Tour only means missing a truly awesome experience. The dune buggies are extremely powerful and the drivers are committed to making sure their passengers scream in excitement. Bring your sunglasses and bandanas to protect your eyes and cover your nose and mouth. Desert sand is so fine it's difficult to remove especially if you've applied sunscreen, which again is a must. Sandboarding is part of the package but you can opt out. They will bring you to a vantage point before the sunset. Lots of memorable pictures to be had, temperature drops as the sun sets so be prepared for that as well. Overall experience - superb!Written July 4, 2019
- adrian n0 contributionsCrazy, madness and FUN, FUN, FUN !!!In Huacachina, the top attraction is Sandboarding & Dune Buggy. The cars seem to be out of movies with MAD MAX. If you are lucky enough to crash on a crazy driver you have chosen one afternoon in which adrenaline exceeds the supportability level for many people. For me it was exactly what I was looking for. Fantastic. A crazy driver who offered us one afternoon in the dunes. Even the most complete carousel can not give you such pleasure as Sergio has managed to offer us. Sandboarding is unforgettable, you can not be in Huacachina and you do not. I have lived something unrivaled. My wife, who since the onset of the trip to Peru told me she did not even want to go to the desert, she was happy to do it. Whoever is in Huacachina and does not test the Dune Buggy and Sandboarding has seen nothing in life.Written June 27, 2019
- Safari299099170010 contributionsscary but also super fun!really good experience dont miss it! like a roller coaster without rail, sand dunes and the Oasis Huacachina makes the experience marvelous.Written June 19, 2019
- dglogan0 contributionsMust-do if you're in HuacachinaThe buggying far outshines the sandboarding. It's more of a rollercoaster, as you're thrown around (but well strapped in) going up and down the dunes. Great fun.Written June 14, 2019
- NomadicaSam0 contributionsBest thing you will ever doListen!! If you're in Peru go do the buggy tour, just the ride on the buggy Issa roller coaster. The tour comes with sandboarding and might be one of the most amazing thing I've ever done.Written June 12, 2019

Be aware that there have been many fatal and even deadly accidents in the Huacachina Buggy Tours. Please get informed beforehand and google it. There are NO SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT ALL. The drivers don´t have a license and there are no checks on the cars whatsoever. Because the dunes are private proberty, there are no controls, rules or laws for your safety. Most of the seatbelts don´t work. The drivers don´t even check if everyone has taken his/her seat proberly before starting to drive. If you sit on one of the outer sides, your head is not protected by the roof if the cars turns over (which they often do). I saw an accident myself and noone even checked on the injured person.

My husband and I are 72 and weren't going to sand board down those huge dunes. Well, we did it and LOVED it! We flew down 2 huge dunes with glee! Carlos is an excellent driver who rolled us up and down the dunes and took gorgeous photos of us posing at sunset at the top of a dune. We'll use those photos in March for our 50th anniversary. Thanks for the photos and the once-in-a-lifetime thrills, Carlos!

This two-hour tour is worth doing on a visit to Huacachina! We were taken out in the buggy by our guide who made it his duty to give us a thrill when going up, down and over the dunes. We had a stop midway through at the top of the dunes for photo opportunities, which was a bit too long for me but others in our group of 10 were happy taking photos. After that we continued driving up the dunes until we got to the top of the first we would sandboard down. It’s doesn’t require much explaiantion from the guide but he did help out those who were a bit nervous about going down. We had three goes each in total!
The dunes are busy with many buggy tours going on at the same time but it was only really noticeable at the photo stop and sunset stop as many buggies (10+) stop at the same places on the dunes.
At the end of the tour Head up to the top of a dune to watch the actual sunset as the "sunset" stop is just the sun disappearing behind the dunes.

Super fun! Glad I did it. The dunes are so crazy with buggies but the sand goes on forever - it seems.

My wife and I travel full time and are constantly doing fun stuff and thus is one of the coolest things we've ever done. Extremely unique. The dunes are unreal and the driver of the dune buggy was a maniac but in a fun way - drifting in berms and booking it over hills. So so fun couldn't recommend more.

This experience was beyond amazing. We did the 4pm slot, which I totally recommend because we were there for the sunset. Our guide, Marco Antonio, was phenomenal- took us to board at dunes, took pictures- A total must do!

Hello. Do we drive our own buggy on this tour or are we riding in one with someone else driving? We are looking to drive our own buggy if this is possible?
