- 154atsushim0 contributionsmust seeno regret. a bit pricy but I think it's worth the price. you will see the current situation of Makoko. I'd recommend reading one or two news articles in advance so you know more about the place.Written October 2, 2024
- allantec20240 contributionsMust Visit MakokoI had the pleasure of being transported and hosted by Samap Travels and Tours and they were amazing! From the very beginning, I booked a reservation for the Makoko Tour last minute but they were sure to accommodate me and also waited patiently for me to be ready as they picked me up from my hotel. The tour was very thorough and I was impressed by Benjamin’s knowledge of the community as he guided me and couldn’t help but notice how beautiful Makoko is even though the community is less fortunate, the people are resourceful, kind, welcoming. Please attend this tour and find it in your heart to give love and resources to the community if you have it to give. Samap Travels were extremely professional, timely, reliable and offer many other tours. I would book with Samap again every time.Written September 29, 2024

- iamshellie0 contributionsGreat historical tour! The "Slave Trade Tour: Badagry Black Heritage Adventure" is an incredibly poignant and educational journey. This tour offers a profound insight into the harrowing history of the slave trade through the historic town of Badagry, one of the key points in the West African slave route. The guides are knowledgeable and passionate, providing detailed narratives that bring the chilling realities of the past to life. Visiting sites like the Slave Ports, the Black History Museum, and the Point of No Return was an emotional experience, deeply enhancing my understanding of the impacts of slavery. This tour is a must for anyone interested in the true history of the African diaspora and the resilience of its people. Highly recommended for its educational value and the respectful treatment of its delicate subject matter.Written August 25, 2024

- Merv D0 contributionsA Symphony of Faith and Despair: A Sunday Visit to Makoko's SlumOn a somber Sunday in Makoko, I wandered through the labyrinth of shanties and makeshift homes. In Makoko, the air is thick with the scent of survival and despair. Amidst the pervasive poverty, I stumbled upon a small church, where the melodies of hymns floated through the air. The congregation, dressed in their best despite the dire circumstances, sang with a fervent hope that seemed almost defiant. Children sat attentively, their eyes reflecting both innocence and a harsh reality. The juxtaposition of faith and despair was heartbreaking. In the face of relentless hardship, their collective prayers felt like a poignant cry for a better tomorrow, echoing through the fragile walls of their sanctuary.Written May 25, 2024
- Merv D0 contributionsWell organized, stress freeAs I walked through Badagry, the echoes of a harrowing past weighed heavily upon my soul. The rusted chains and crumbling relics of the slave trade told stories of unfathomable suffering and loss. Each step on the cobblestone streets felt like a somber pilgrimage through time, a stark reminder of humanity's capacity for cruelty. The sorrow in the air was palpable, a silent testament to the countless lives torn apart by an era of darkness. Standing by the shores where countless captives embarked on their doomed journey, I was overwhelmed by a profound sense of grief and remembrance.Written May 25, 2024
- Dreamer030821271460 contributionsHugely InterestingOur trip to Makoko through Samap Travels was an incredibly interesting and enlightening experience. Communication with Samap was excellent throughout, all instructions given were very clear and easy. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel by the team. They drove us to Makoko, and also accompanied us throughout the visit. Makoko itself was a different world from the 5* hotels of Victoria Island. It was an authentic look at the real Nigeria. The whole day felt very safe. The guys at Makoko do incredible work for their community. The trip was very intense, and not for the faint of heart, but I would hugely recommend to anyone who wants to see a more authentic side to Lagos.Written May 24, 2024
- Michael A0 contributionsAirport pick up LsgosThe vehicle pick up operator communicated very well and the vehicle that picked me up was able to accommodate my luggageWritten April 30, 2024
- Michael A0 contributionsWonderful insightful tourThe experience was very insightful. Coordinating pick up was easy due to great communication from the tour operators. I was picked up from my hotel in a comfortable vehicle with AC, and we traveled the 1 hrs west of Lagos to Badagary. In Badagary the tour guide did a wonderful job of showing me the actual rooms, tools, and methods used in the enslavement camp. The tour didn’t feel rushed at all, and the long walk through the sun and sand to the point of no return (now the point of return with the construction of the return point) reinforced the gravity of what took place back then and the systems still in place today. Definitely a tour that was worth the money and time. Bring a water bottle/gatorade, comfortable walking shoes, food/eat before the trip, and possibly an umbrella for the sunWritten April 30, 2024

I was billed $340 for four of us where others paid N3000/head making N12,000($16).
So Trip advisor charged me $340 translating to $324 more is unacceptable so I had to pay N12,000.00($16).
So I demand a refund of my payment as this is a painful experience to be outrageous bill this way.
So for fairness refund my funds in full

Hi Tari, your observations are noted. However, the cost of your tour is not the same as the admission fee to tourist destinations, it is all inclusive package which indicates pick ups from airports , hotels or apartments from all parts of Lagos. There are other inclusions in your ticket.
It is understandable that you said you declined pick ups for you and your family while making the bookings but Trip Advisor platform cannot automatically reduce your cost. That is why there are numbers and email address there to contact to discuss your reservations and they are always ready to help. The matter is being handled.
